STOP REFUSING CONSCRIPTS. Canada recruited these people. It gave them study permits, work permits, and pathways to permanent residence. Many are doctors, engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs Canada actively wanted. Losing them over forced conscription is a loss for Canada too.

STOP REFUSING CONSCRIPTS Today in Ottawa, we are mothers, fathers and children standing peacefully together. In Iran, mandatory conscription is compulsory. Young men are sent to units they never chose, and refusing means losing a passport, work and education, or being arrested. Many of these men left Iran to escape the regime and built new lives in Canada. They work, pay taxes and raise children who know Canada as their only home. Now they are receiving letters that treat their forced service as membership in the regime they escaped. We support Canada’s security, and we want the regime’s real members held accountable. But a drafted young man is not a commander. We ask for an honest, individual review of each case. Ministers and MPs, we are here in Ottawa. Please meet our families and hear our stories.

Day 1 of a 3-day peaceful gathering in Ottawa.
Families of former Iranian conscripts are outside IRCC and CBSA offices, speaking for thousands across Canada who disclosed their conscription honestly and transparently—yet face inadmissibility findings that affect their entire families including minor children.
Evidence from affected families shows that conscription alone is being treated as IRGC membership, despite previous assurances from the government.
Our request is simple: meet with IRCC senior decision-makers, explain how these cases are assessed, and listen to affected families.
Canada must have clear guidelines that distinguishes forced conscripts from voluntary IRGC members. Fairness, transparency, and family unity matter.
