The internet sure is less utopian than predicted.
Giving people the technology for a window into how other people think apparently just makes them want to suppress other people's access to communication technology.
This year @messyhot is taking photos and selling ultra high quality prints at @exxxotica in New Jersey. Booth 667! There are also new fragrances, tshirts, stickers and more available. @larzbit3z and @liloleblu will be taking photos and selling merch too!

Zelle is great because if you try to send money to someone and they've done something suspicious (like creating a Zelle account), Zelle will block the transaction and if you call your bank they will tell you the solution is to use something other than Zelle

Thanks so much to Jon H for pointing out needed California Deathrock book as an add-on. Well, better late than never, I guess. Anyway, if you were looking for our last book of portraits, featuring Malice McMunn @Malice666Mcmunn on the cover, available there now. Link in comments.

#FlashbackFriday we shot Taylor Nicole @xxxTaylorNicole at AVN 2024 and it ended up the cover of AltStar Magazine 25! A book of photos we took in situations like this has just about lucky 13 hours left to go to fund on Kickstarter. Ask Zinetastic if there are copies of the mag.

Update: AstraZeneca announced this morning that sunvozertinib is now available in the United States. A major win for the lung cancer community, especially patients with EGFR exon 20 insertion lung cancer who have been waiting for this option.
China approved it in August 2023. The FDA approved it in July 2025. It became commercially available here today. More than three years from its first approval to US availability.
I did not expect this many people to read about my mom. Thank you. If you or someone you love is going through this and doesn’t know where to turn, my messages are open.

In January 2025 my mom’s lung cancer spread to her brain. The drug with the best chance of helping her was approved in China but not here.
A doctor told me, almost as an aside, that if she were Chinese she could buy it at a pharmacy.
So I flew to Shanghai and came home with 26 boxes in my luggage. That was 19 months ago. My mom is still here, still working, and in her words has had an amazing three years.
The drug was approved in China in 2023. The FDA approved it in July 2025. It still is not for sale here. I know of at least 30 Americans who have made the same trip.
I have been scared to tell this story because I worried it could cost my mom access to the medicine keeping her alive. But the problem matters more than my silence. These drugs need to be developed and available here, and that means FDA reform.
Art Allen at KFF Health News told our story this week. It also ran in The Washington Post.

“The child who obeys you out of fear will one day lie to you for freedom.”
- Niccolò Machiavelli
This illustrates how controlling others through fear creates dishonesty rather than genuine respect. When children are forced to obey through intimidation, they often learn to hide their true thoughts, emotions, and desires. Over time, deception becomes a way to protect themselves and regain a sense of independence.
The combination of Machiavelli’s words and classical imagery emphasizes the psychological consequences of excessive authority. It serves as a powerful reminder that fear may produce obedience, but it cannot build trust or loyalty. Instead, it encourages secrecy, resentment, and the pursuit of freedom beyond the reach of those in control.
Alchemy is not even front page news in these modern times.
A San Francisco startup says it turned mercury into gold last month & beat CERN's record by a factor of ten.
CERN's record is 29 picograms.
That's the entire yield of 86 billion gold nuclei created across four LHC experiments between 2015 & 2018, about three hundredths of a billionth of a gram, and it didn't survive. The nuclei flew off, struck the beam pipe and shattered within a fraction of a second. CERN wasn't trying to make gold either; it was measuring how lead nuclei shed protons during near-misses, because those losses limit how hard you can run a collider.
The physics Marathon is using is more interesting than the headline, though.
Natural mercury is about 10% mercury-198. Hit one with a fast enough neutron & it ejects two, leaving mercury-197. That isotope is unstable & here's the part worth pausing on: it doesn't decay by spitting anything out. A proton inside the nucleus captures one of the atom's own orbiting electrons and turns into a neutron. The nuclear charge falls from 80 to 79. Half-life, about 64 hours.
Element 79 is gold. And gold-197 is the only stable isotope gold has, so what's left is permanent, ordinary gold - made by an atom quietly swallowing one of its own electrons.
This needs fusion specifically.
Knocking a neutron out of mercury-198 takes something above roughly 8.5 MeV & fission neutrons average around 2. Deuterium-tritium fusion throws them off at 14.1 MeV, comfortably over the line. The gold is downstream of what fusion already does anyway.
And gold was never really the business. The same neutron flux makes copper-64 & other medical isotopes, where the shortages are real & the customer isn't the bullion market.
