New Yorkers: Do you have a form of immigration relief called withholding of removal? Have you received an ICE letter summoning you to 26 Federal Plaza? Here’s what you can do:
1. Call our Immigration Legal Support Hotline at 1-800-354-0365, or call 311 and say "Immigration Legal" for free, confidential help in your native language.
2. Fill out our intake form to get help from the Rapid Response Legal Collaborative: nyc.gov/RRLC
3. Make a plan. Make sure you have an emergency contact and that someone you trust has your A-number. Talk to a lawyer before making any decisions.
Immigrants with protected status who’ve lived in the city for decades are finding themselves swept up, shackled and threatened with expulsion.

Stunning reporting from ProPublica: Over 500 documented cases of U.S. citizens being detained since the start of this Trump administration.
This could be any of us. Disband Trump’s rogue immigration militia.

For @theintercept I wrote about ICE posting then deleting a bunch of records from its website and how 6/8 of the mortality reviews of deaths in custody from 2025 found that detention staff broke (sometimes pretty egregiously!) with standards of med care.

More than 50,000 people are on ICE GPS ankle monitors, the most I’ve seen in years of studying the data. I talked with attorneys from @AmicaCenter, @Kennedy_HRC, and @JustFuturesLaw about why “this is really an alternative form of detention.”

After the tent camp plan of 2025 fell through, and the warehouse plan of early 2026 fell through, ICE's third attempt at spending their billions in detention funding appears to be constructing new permanent detention centers on existing federal property. projectsaltbox.com/p/ice-sig…

ANOTHER death in ICE detention which appears likely to be the result of medical neglect.
A diabetic who wasn't receiving regular insulin shots OR getting diabetic-appropriate meals just died in custody.
A 36-year-old Costa Rican man whose family says he complained of missing insulin shots and meals to manage his diabetes is the third detainee to die in less than six months at an ICE facility in Louisiana. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/cos…

ICE has been detaining a record number of pregnant women since Donald Trump’s return to office. According to records obtained by The Guardian, the agency also "lost count” of miscarriages suffered by women held in detention almost a year ago. youtu.be/bR3xgS0XMos?si=AUPH…

Took an Uber to work the other day and when the driver found out I'm in immigration, relayed exactly this to me about a family member's case. I was convinced he was confused about how it works because I'd never heard of such a thing. Welp 🙃

🚨NEW🚨 ICE quietly received permission in recent weeks to force-feed a detained Cuban hunger striker inside a Texas detention center, including with the use of a rare, nonconsensual surgical procedure.
He’s likely the 19th hunger striker in ICE detention where the agency has had an application approved to conduct “involuntary medical procedures” since Jan 2025.
ICE received permission *just this week* to force-feed him through a “PEG” tube insertion.
This is a surgery in which medical staff make an incision in a person’s abdomen, insert a tube and pump liquid directly into the stomach.
This procedure has not been previously identified in other force-feeding cases we’ve reviewed.

The entire immigration courts cannot possibly be construed as due process anymore
SCOOP: Immigrants are being rapidly reassigned to in-person immigration court hearings at buildings that are not immigration courts + with minimal notice. The pop-up courts come as EOIR is looking to rapidly acquire space throughout the country.

If you want to understand ICE’s deportation priorities, read about Kelly Yu. She fled China as a teenager, built a life in Arizona over 21 years, opened three restaurants where she employs over 70 people, is married to a U.S. citizen and raised an American child. I fought for her release and was happy to see her back home in Peoria, where she belongs.
This is the story of Kelly Yu, co-owner of Kawaii Sushi & Asian Cuisine, who spent months in a notorious ICE detention center: phoenixnewtimes.com/news/ice…

I just finished an unannounced inspection of the San Antonio ICE Check-In facility.
I saw 40 men packed into 2 holding rooms.
Most had been picked up in the morning, on their way to work.
Their dusty work boots were off to the side. One pair had an American flag on it.
I also spoke with families who knew someone held inside.
ICE isn’t going after the worst of the worst in San Antonio. They’re targeting hardworking folks who are trying to make an honest living for their families.

Ankle monitors. Electric shock gloves. What’s next?
We should be deeply concerned about where this is going.
Dehumanization does not begin with the worst act imaginable. It grows when we become comfortable with treating people as threats to be tracked, controlled, restrained, and subjected to pain.
Immigration status does not erase human dignity. Government power does not erase the responsibility to respect it.
We cannot build the Beloved Community while normalizing the dehumanization of our neighbors. And we should not wait to see what comes next before we say enough.
