On Saturday 24th October, our MIST System was activated for its first real incident in the Southbound tunnel, in response to a vehicle fire.
The Fixed Fire Suppression System was the first of its kind to be installed in a British tunnel, and it is a critical part of our tunnels safety. Activated via our SCADA monitoring system, the system can target three fire zones, including the affected zone plus one zone either side, to fully contain the fire until emergency services respond. While we hope it's rarely needed, Saturday's incident demonstrated exactly why this investment in safety and regular maintenance is so important.
We are pleased to share that the incident was safely resolved within an hour, with no reported injuries, and attendance from the North East Ambulance Service was not required.
A big thank you to our Operational Delivery team, as well as emergency services who responded quickly and professionally.

The last time #Arsenal reached the Champions League final, mighty #Boro reached the UEFA Cup final. On the Gazette sports desk we were seriously (but discreetly) looking at the logistics and finance of how to get to Monaco for the Super Cup final v Gunners or #Barcelona.

Left hand on the ground trying not to hit the pavement; right hand still holding a cell phone. ICE person standing with a one handed grip pointing his gun right at the man’s head.
There is nothing about this that we should accept. We all must reject this. This is our government

"If I had to fly to the moon I'd take Tony Mowbray, my captain, with me. He's a magnificent man,” Bruce Rioch, the then Middlesbrough manager, in 1988. Famous quote that led to the title of a famous fanzine. Mowbray, born in nearby Saltburn, played with total commitment in 424 games for Boro (10th= in all-time list), captained them at 22, helped them up and later managed them for 153 games. West Brom manager bound to get a good reception at Boro tonight. And great to see Mowbray back in management. #MIDWBA

Well - the entire crew of season two of #AdamRichmanEatsBritain has just been robbed. We were driving from Birmingham to London, stopped at a rest, stop in Barnet for exactly 4 1/2 minutes to use the restroom, and came back to our van completely cleaned out.
All of the filming equipment is gone.
Both of my suitcases with all of my possessions are gone.
Backpack with my laptop and all of my medications are gone .
And to make matters worse, because I have trackers on some of my possessions, and because of my laptop, I can see where these things are. But we have to wait here for the police. The rest stop won’t release the security footage until the police arrive.
It’s been almost an hour.
I’m going to share a few of the locations where I can see my possessions.
Reward for anything found.
