Columbia trustees: turn the volume up! You and SIPA's racist Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo will answer for the abhorrent actions you did to pro-Palestine students. Accountability is coming, and I'll be working with the newly elected officials to deliver it.

God he’s such a rat. You sold the war! You promoted it! You said in March that Iran wanted to blow up “nuclear suicide bomb vests” in American grocery stores. If you opposed it you could have quit in protest before 130 school girls and 3000 other Iranians we’re snuffed out
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Jeffries spending the morning taking a false high road about "not getting even" is not a great sign that he knows what to do with this moment.

I find this effort to distance Stevens from her staff/supporters tiresome. I buy they were left in the dark about the explicit Rogers endorsement but—even on the issue of partisan loyalty—they had no problem with her primary being funded almost entirety by Trump mega-donors (1/5)
NEW Former Stevens staffers blast her "selfish ... irrational ... shameful" decision in open letter Comes from former organizing director Max Skove and 20+ other (not named) ex-staff, including one now in senior role on El-Sayed campaign

The skies over Gaza are now filled with an intense and terrifying presence of warplanes and drones on an unprecedented scale. At the same time, Israeli artillery continues to shell and demolish what remains of the buildings, amid violent, deafening explosions that shake the entire Gaza Strip! We are facing extremely terrifying and horrifying conditions, unlike anything we have ever witnessed before! Please, never stop talking about Gaza. Please, keep your eyes on Gaza.

Their goal is routine disciplining of Israel critics but the reason they’re going scorched earth here is El-Sayed would be the first (what they index as) openly anti-zionist candidate to win a swing state. It completely nukes their “electability” line which is all they have left
Explain to me the AIPAC/Mr. Stevens endgame here? If Rogers wins and is god forbid the 49/50th vote for ICE camps & who knows what else they will be blamed! It will reduce their power in the Dem party even more. If Abdul wins anyway (which I expect) then they reveal themselves to be whining losers w no influence. It’s just one big temper tantrum that is serving to undermine their stated goals. Crazy.

Again this is empirically false. The AP keeps writing that Dems are “divided” over El Sayed. They are not. He has 95% support among Dem voters—a higher % than Kathy Hochul, Roy Cooper, Sherrod Brown (and dozens of other candidates) and on par with Josh Shapiro and Mike Rogers.

I can hardly imagine anyone who hasn’t seen this photograph. But it was taken on this day in 2000. I cannot believe the photo is 26 years old now. The boy in the photograph was Fares Odeh. He was just 14 years old. Ten days after this image was captured, Fares went out again to throw stones at Israeli tanks, seeking to avenge the killing of his 17-year-old cousin. An Israeli sniper shot him in the neck, killing him. And there is another chilling detail to this photograph. The photo changed Israeli tank doctrine. In August 2001, The Jerusalem Post quoted an anonymous tank doctrinist saying tank personnel were now instructed to fire upon rock-throwers.

“Arabs don’t produce literature” is really something you can only say if you’ve never had a moment’s contact with genuine civilization. A mind totally consumed by television and self-help books.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Novel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

This is bone chilling. She straight up says Palestinians should be forcibly removed from their land, that God commanded them to take the long, that Lebanon, Jordan and Syria belong to Israel and that Palestinians should be killed. Why isn’t there more outrage about this?
The comparisons to post-UDI Rhodesia & Apartheid-era South Africa are too generous to Israel.

Important thread on bird flu— TLDR: the response from the federal government has been insufficient, this should have been over two years ago. Instead, we keep giving the virus chances to evolve, potentially to do human to human transmission
There is something really concerning (and disappointing) going on in the US right now. A dangerous and preventable situation. Let me explain. nextstrain.org/avian-flu/h5n… 1/

Over 2,000 Palestinians expelled from their homes by the Israeli military in Hebron during the last 48 hours. Half a million people kept under siege.
Nearly 500,000 Palestinians in Hebron are facing a sweeping Israeli lockdown and military assault, with large-scale demolitions across the city. More than 200 families were forcibly driven from their homes overnight, while Israeli forces seized some houses and converted them into military positions. Al Jazeera's Nour Odeh reports from the occupied West Bank.

Brad, ur in Palestine. Pls exercise some humility. Listen more, lecture less. Framing the targeting of soldiers as a “cycle of violence” - rather than resistance 2 apartheid & genocide- while also not demanding US sanctions/arms embargo is asking Palestinians to die politely.
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured. I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response. I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image. For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

The blockade of the West Bank, the siege of Hebron, the expulsion of thousands from their homes there, & the demolition of buildings & houses are not only to serve Netanyahu’s fascist elections campaign, they’re primarily to implement his longstanding strategy of the ethnic cleansing and annexation of the West Bank. Israel’s criminality & cruelty know no bounds.
Hundreds of families have been in the street with nowhere to go since they were forced out of their homes by Netanyahu’s thugs in Al Khaleel
