Even in a mature field where cruelty was thought to be maxed out, factory farming shows that there's still room to get even more psychotic.
A new study (Li et al., 2026) recommends giving chickens just 2 hours of darkness nightly to maximize the time they spend eating.
The study and photo are Chinese. But the idea is American: US chicken producers pioneered sleep restriction to keep their birds eating around the clock.
We know chickens have far better welfare with 7–8 hours of darkness to sleep. Their ancestors, the red junglefowl, naturally sleep 12 hours a night.
Today the US industry gives most birds just 4 hours of intermittent darkness. Will they now drop that to 2?
Don't count on them considering what the birds need.

A ton of internet discourse is now like this song. It sounds good, but it is all gibberish. It means nothing.

Let's put the environmental impact of 4,000 trees in context.
What is the one-time loss of carbon sequestration? Himalayan forests usually have around 0.5-1.5 tons of carbon sequestered in itself and the soil. Culling all 4k would release around 2k - 6k tons of carbon dioxide. Let's take a average figure of around 4k tons of CO2 for this standing stock.
How much do these trees reduce carbon annually? That's approximately 0.01 tons of carbon dioxide per tree. So that's around 40 tons of carbon dioxide that they reduce per year additionally. Let's round this to about 100 tons of CO2.
So total emissions = 4,000 tons of CO2 release one time + 100 tons/year recurring.
And let's go through some emission facts:
1. India emits around 3.3 billion tons of CO2 per year. The full standing stock of 4k tons is exhausted in 30 seconds of emissions.
2. That comes out to a 2 tons of CO2 emitted per capita. 1500 Indians will consume the entire standing stock in one year.
3. Punjab's paddy burning amounts to about 30 million tons in 45 days. This consumes the standing stock in 7 minutes.
4. 1 GW coal unit emits about 6 million tons of CO2 a year. So basically 5 hours of operations will be equal to 4k tons of CO2.
There's more numbers I could pull out, but I hope I got you the gist of it.
Assume that there's a better road constructed after cutting down the trees that eliminates a 20km detour. That detour carries around 2000 vehicles and emits an average of 250g of CO2/km.
So that eliminates around 2000 * 20 * 0.25kg * 365 = 3650 tons of CO2/year.
So the entire carbon sequestration of the 4000 trees is taken care of in one year. And these are calculations with conservative numbers!
I hope I got the point across. Environmentalism must not come at the cost of development. Whatever your underlying philosophy is, if it loves trees in spite of this, then you are mathematically illiterate as well as anti-poor.

For the record, evidence for a premise in a valid argument may be evidence against the conclusion of the argument. In fact, even if A entails or necessitates B, evidence for A may be evidence against B.

I often hear lines like "you're not doing SM right." The entire argument is based on how I am supposed to say things that generate more engagement.
If doing social media right means saying things that have to go viral then I'm happy doing social media wrong. Because most people that do social media right are really dumb assholes.
Verdict: 8 year old says red, 6 year old said blue because he thought it was a trick question since it would be dumb to have red be such an obviously correct choice

Zero-sugar soda is like Ozempic. People on the internet *really* want it to be bad for you in some way despite all evidence to the contrary because they assume everything good has to have some hidden catch. Sometimes free lunch is real, guys.

Consensus & Confusion
While the '25–'30 Dietary Guidelines repeat familiar messages like eat more veggies & fruits, they also overemphasize protein, downplay fiber, muddy guidance on processed foods, and send mixed messages on saturated fat.

THE RIGHT SIDE UP:
We often hear: "Government meds are weak" or "Cheap meds don't work."
This is false.
Our lab data proves that Indian generics match the quality of premium brands. Don't let marketing fool you. The molecule doesn't care about the brand name on the box.
Your health deserves quality.
Your wallet deserves fairness.
This large scale study proves that in general:
Generics ≠ Inferior
We tested. We verified. The results are undeniable.
EVERY. SINGLE. PILL. PASSED.
Whether it was a ₹61 liver tablet from a big brand or a ₹16 one from Jan Aushadhi - they ALL met the strict Indian Pharmacopoeia standards.
Zero failures. The cheap meds worked just as well in the lab.
Please share and RT to help your family & friends save tens of thousands on medicines!

Nothing inherently wrong with eugenics. I very much support eugenics actually when it’s for a good cause, like making us all smarter. Eugenics is only bad when it’s used for evil purposes. And that can be said about so many other inventions.
