ADC-PCC TO TINUBU: NIGERIANS DEMAND ANSWERS OVER SPOKESMAN’S ALLEGATION THAT MINISTERS BOUGHT APPOINTMENTS
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to respond to an allegation by his campaign spokesperson, Mr Alwan Hassan, that some ministers in his administration allegedly paid to secure their appointments and are now seeking to recoup their investments.
The ADC-PCC said the allegation, reportedly made during a live television programme, raises serious questions about the integrity of ministerial appointments, accountability in government and the circumstances surrounding the selection of members of the Federal Executive Council.
Hassan was reported to have stated that some ministers paid money to secure their positions and were now focused on recovering what they allegedly invested before turning their attention to the business of governance.
The ADC- PCC queried " If substantiated, such an allegation would represent a grave indictment of the process through which public offices are filled and the principles of public service. It is particularly troubling that the allegation is attributed to a figure associated with the President’s political camp".
The ADC-PCC therefore insisted that Nigerians deserve a clear and unequivocal response from the Presidency pointing out that "an allegation of this magnitude cannot simply be ignored or dismissed without a transparent explanation.
"The allegation, if established, would suggest that ministerial appointments were treated as private investments rather than positions of public trust. It would also raise concerns about whether decisions affecting millions of Nigerians are being influenced by the personal financial interests of those entrusted with public responsibility.
"At a time when Nigerians are grappling with rising living costs, insecurity, pressure on household incomes and persistent economic difficulties, the country cannot afford uncertainty over the integrity and priorities of those occupying its highest public offices".
The ADC-PCC argues that the allegation raises fundamental questions about the administration’s much-publicised Renewed Hope Agenda and whether the interests of ordinary Nigerians are receiving the attention they deserve.
"Public office is a responsibility, not a commercial transaction. Ministerial appointments must be guided by competence, integrity and a commitment to national service—not by financial inducements or expectations of private returns", the ADC- PCC stressed.
The ADC-PCC, therefore, demands the following:
1. Immediate response from the President: President Tinubu should address the nation and clarify whether he is aware of the allegation, whether any investigation has been initiated and what steps his administration intends to take.
2. Clarification from Alwan Hassan: The spokesperson should publicly substantiate his reported claims by identifying the ministers allegedly involved, stating the amounts he alleged were paid and those who received the money.
3. Independent investigation: The appropriate law-enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), should examine every shred of evidence of financial inducements connected to ministerial appointments. Anyone found culpable should face the full consequences of the law.
1. National Assembly inquiry: The National Assembly should consider a transparent public inquiry into the allegation, including inviting Hassan to clarify his reported remarks and provide any supporting evidence available to him.
The ADC-PCC stresses that these demands are not a substitute for evidence or due process. Rather, they are necessary steps to establish the facts, protect the integrity of public institutions and ensure that any wrongdoing is addressed in accordance with the law.
Nigerians deserve a government in which public appointments are made in the national interest and public resources are managed for the benefit of citizens, not to facilitate the recovery of private investments.
President Tinubu must respond to this allegation. Silence or an evasive response would only deepen public concern and leave critical questions unanswered.
As the country approaches the 2027 general election, the ADC-PCC calls on Nigerians to scrutinise the records, policies and accountability of political leaders and make informed decisions about the future of the country.
The ADC-PCC maintains that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s presidential candidacy offers Nigerians an alternative platform for debating governance, economic recovery, public accountability and national renewal.

ADC-PCC: Kwankwaso Cannot Distract Us; His Response Exposes Alleged Alliance with APC, Tinubu
…Challenges NDC Vice-Presidential Candidate to Stop Attacking Atiku and Confront Tinubu Over Nigeria’s Worsening Crisis
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has dismissed Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s response to its earlier statement as diversionary, insisting that his reaction has further raised questions about his political alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The ADC-PCC had earlier advised Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), whose presidential candidate is Peter Obi, to stop attacking the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and redirect his energy towards holding the ruling APC accountable for its failures.
The Council maintained that, as an opposition figure, Kwankwaso should be challenging the Tinubu administration over the worsening economic hardship, insecurity and declining living standards confronting Nigerians, rather than repeatedly targeting Atiku and the ADC.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Director of Media and Publicity of the ADC-PCC, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Kwankwaso’s response had failed to address the substance of the Council’s concerns.
According to the ADC-PCC, Kwankwaso casually mentioned the APC in his defence but devoted much of his response to attacking the ADC, a development it said raised questions about his priorities as an opposition leader.
“Why is Senator Kwankwaso making our candidate the issue instead of confronting the ruling APC, whose policies have made life increasingly difficult for millions of Nigerians?” the Council asked.
It argued that Nigerians were more concerned about hunger, insecurity, high fuel prices, the depreciation of the naira and the crushing economic hardship under the APC-led government than political exchanges among opposition figures.
The Council insisted that these national challenges should be the priority of any politician genuinely committed to providing an alternative to the Tinubu administration.
It further challenged Kwankwaso to explain why his political attacks appeared more frequently directed at Atiku and the ADC than at the ruling party responsible for the country's current challenges.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the ADC cannot and will not be distracted by Senator Kwankwaso,” the Council declared.
Describing the ADC as a strong and increasingly accepted political platform, the ADC-PCC said it remained focused on mobilising Nigerians around its commitment to rescuing the country from what it described as the failures of APC governance.
The Council also challenged Kwankwaso to stop using attacks on the ADC to curry political favour with the ruling party and instead demonstrate the courage to openly align himself with the APC if he shares its political agenda.
The ADC-PCC reaffirmed its determination to remain united, focused and committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative in the 2027 general election.

PRESS RELEASE
APC PCC Inauguration Is a ‘Rape of Democracy’, Says ADC-PCC
........ACCUSES ruling party of plotting one-party dictatorship, declares Atiku only pathway out of Nigeria’s predicament
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has condemned the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, describing it as a calculated attempt to impose a one-party dictatorship on Nigeria.
The ADC-PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, stated this while reacting to the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday.
Ologbondiyan alleged that the ruling party was undermining Nigeria’s multiparty democracy by allegedly coercing opposition governors into its fold or incorporating them into its presidential campaign council despite their refusal to defect from their respective political parties.
“What we are witnessing is not politics but political abduction. You cannot claim to be a democrat while using state power to force opposition governors into your party and then drafting them into your campaign council. This is political banditry,” he said.
He accused the APC of pursuing a political agenda that could concentrate power in the hands of one individual, alleging that key national institutions, security agencies and the judiciary were being deployed to weaken opposition forces.
The ADC-PCC spokesman urged Nigerians of conscience to resist what he described as the emergence of an immoral political order driven by the desire to retain power at the expense of citizens’ welfare.
According to him, the ruling political establishment has shown little concern for the worsening economic hardship, hunger and insecurity confronting ordinary Nigerians.
“These particular sets of leaders don't care about the current conditions of the people but how best to remain in power at a time when average Nigerians find it difficult to eat and be secure,” he said.
“I appeal to Nigerians of conscience to stand up against this birth of immoral politics by those who care less about the suffering of the people.”
Ologbondiyan further alleged that Nigeria’s democracy was facing one of its most difficult periods, citing what he described as the suppression of dissenting voices, harassment of opposition figures and weakening of democratic institutions for partisan interests.
“Never in our democratic journey have we witnessed this level of intolerance and desperation. The APC government has weaponised poverty, hunger and insecurity to subjugate Nigerians and cripple the opposition. This is not the democracy for which Chief M.K.O. Abiola and other martyrs paid the supreme price,” he stated.
The ADC-PCC spokesman maintained that the presidential ticket of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi possessed the experience and democratic credentials required to restore democratic governance and reunite the country.
He specifically described Atiku as a committed democrat with the national reach and political experience to address the country's challenges and rebuild public confidence in democratic institutions.
“Atiku Abubakar is a democrat to the core. He has the national spread, the capacity and the will to reunite Nigeria and restore our battered democracy, which the APC has destroyed.
The fate of Nigeria's democracy rests on him to save it from total collapse,” Ologbondiyan declared.
The ADC-PCC called on Nigerians, media organisations, civil society groups and the international community to oppose what it characterised as the APC's anti-democratic agenda and support efforts to protect Nigeria's multiparty democracy.

Police Clampdown on ‘Tinubu Must Go’ Rally in Kano Shameful, Unconstitutional — ADC-PCC
Accuses APC Government of Using Police to Suppress Dissent, Demands Immediate Release of Event Centre Owner
The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has condemned the Kano State Police Command’s disruption of the peaceful.
“Tinubu Must Go” rally at The Avenue Event Center, Kano, describing the action as shameful, unconstitutional and a disturbing descent into authoritarianism.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, the council accused the police of violating Nigerians’ fundamental rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
The rally, led by Barrister Abba Hikima and organised by concerned youths, was reportedly disrupted when police operatives barricaded The Avenue Event Center and allegedly intimidated participants.
Despite the police action, the council said the youths demonstrated courage and determination by refusing to be silenced and insisting on making their voices heard.
The ADC-PCC expressed particular outrage over the reported arrest of the owner of The Avenue Event Center for allegedly allowing the facility to be used for the gathering, describing the development as another troubling indication of the APC-led government’s intolerance of dissent.
It questioned why a business owner should face arrest for making a facility available for a peaceful gathering.
“This is not democracy. This is tyranny. For how long will the APC continue to use the police to suppress dissenting voices?” Ologbondiyan queried.
He described as ironic a situation in which a government that claims to uphold democratic values appears threatened by citizens exercising their constitutional rights.
“The message from Kano is loud and clear: Nigerians are tired, hungry and angry. You can stop a rally and arrest a venue owner, but you cannot arrest hunger in the land. You cannot barricade the anger and frustration of over 200 million people,” he said.
Ologbondiyan argued that the government’s priorities were misplaced, insisting that the same determination displayed in disrupting the rally should instead be directed towards tackling insecurity, banditry and the crushing cost of living.
“If the APC government had deployed the same energy it used to stop a peaceful rally at The Avenue Event Center to tackle insecurity, banditry and the excruciating cost of living, Nigeria would be a safer and more prosperous nation,” he added.
The council commended Barrister Abba Hikima and the youths who participated in the rally for their courage and determination to speak out despite the reported police intimidation.
It also called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Kano State Police Command to ensure the immediate and unconditional release of the event centre owner, if still in custody, and to desist from actions capable of turning the police into an instrument of political oppression.
The ADC-PCC further urged civil society organisations, human rights groups and the international community to pay close attention to what it described as a dangerous erosion of democratic freedoms in Nigeria.
“The right to protest is not a privilege granted by the police or the APC; it is a right guaranteed by the Constitution. No amount of intimidation will stop Nigerians from demanding change.
“The ADC stands firmly with Barrister Abba Hikima, the courageous youths of Kano and every Nigerian who has found the courage to say enough is enough,” the statement concluded.
