VIDEO A BOLD NEW EXPERIMENT IN KANNADA HORROR! Dear @srinidhi_Blore , I watched your 'Video' movie, and I must say, this is a refreshing and ambitious attempt at paranormal horror in Indian cinema. Reminiscent of The Taking of Deborah Logan, it explores the found-footage, paranormal documentary and vlogging-horror format in an interesting way. Your style stands out, though at times, the treatment reminded me strongly of Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare. The colour grading and cinematography are absolutely superb! You have cleverly divided the film into three distinct phases: Comedy, Bejaru and Horror. Comedy: This is where the film scores big! The comedy works wonderfully, and our entire family enjoyed these portions. The humour lands well and keeps the audience engaged. Bejaru: This is where I felt the film loses its grip. The characters repeatedly getting bejaru with one another, often for reasons that feel rather childish, eventually makes the audience bejaru too! At one point, I genuinely started wondering, “When on earth will they finally reach Padmapur School?” The stretch feels unnecessarily dragged out, and tighter editing could have made a huge difference. Horror: Srinidhi, you might just be a new OG (Original Gangster, not that OG) in Kannada horror! You guys absolutely rock when it comes to creating a chilling atmosphere. A few of the jump scares are genuinely terrific. However, not every scene of characters running around with cameras automatically creates fear. The horror could have been even more effective with greater restraint and a stronger sense of dread. KUDOS! to your entire crew. @nalmeyolume #priyajachar Nevertheless, Video is a bold experiment that deserves appreciation. It reminded me of the audacious, unconventional spirit of films like The Green Inferno — a film that dares to venture beyond familiar territory. My suggestion to the team: Think beyond Karnataka and take Video to the world! Explore international distribution and dubbed audio versions through platforms such as Amazon Prime Video. @PrimeVideoIN . With the right reach, I believe this experimental format could find an audience far beyond India. My verdict: 3.5/5 ⭐ Must-watch at least once! A fresh concept, a great attempt and a promising new direction for Kannada horror. The ending leaves the story incomplete (though are we looking at Video 2?) And a special word to producer Deekshith @Dheekshiths , thank you for encouraging young minds and backing fresh ideas. Kannada cinema needs more producers who are willing to take chances on new talent and unconventional storytelling. Keep experimenting. Keep frightening us.
