I’m still baffled how this was brushed over so quickly. Can you imagine how many games Robertson would’ve been banned for if the roles were reversed?

Klopp was driven mad in the end by PGMOL. They even got mild mannered Slot. How long will be before they break Iraola?

Baffled by some of the reaction to the match yesterday. We could have easily won that if we’d been more clinical. Unfortunately, we were playing turbo-Pulis and they are very good at shutting games down.

Football is fucking shite these days. It’s a bit of banter and everyone clutches their pearls.
These pundits need to understand that they can't just say anything they want without some sort of comeuppance. Abusing a fanbase, & a club is all well & good. But when your platform has the potential to be seen by millions worldwide, it has the potential to cause monetary damage.

What are the good faith answers to these questions from Man City fans: 1) If the club has grew legitimately - with no under the table self-sponsorship / off the book payments - to the scale of a Madrid or Man United commercially, why has no other middling club been able to replicate them? Shouldn’t we have saw an Everton became half as big as Barca in that time? Are City’s owners just unique geniuses? 2) What is the beef with FFP if the club has grew legitimately to the scale of Madrid and United? Sounds like a great enabler of a system. 3) Why did the club grow through COVID commercially, when no other club in world football did? 4) What explains the discrepancy between the attendances that we can all visually see and the reported attendances? Why is this unlike any other major club? How can the fanbase be uniquely local and skint, but then pulling on global scale revenue? 5) Why the need for off the books payments like those given to Mancini and Yaya, and Sancho’s agent when he was 14? 6) If the club is owned in a private capacity, why is the Abu Dhabi state applying pressure commercially and politically? Could it be that there is no meaningful distinction between the state, the private and the commercial here?

Jesus fucking Christ what is wrong with these people
Man City have no fans is one of the most delusional takes in football. PSG vs Barcelona was playing at the same time, yet 40% of the world was watching City based on my analysis. This is how global we’ve become, and people still want to pretend otherwise. Aside from Real Madrid, I genuinely don’t think there’s a club with a bigger global fanbase than Manchester City. Cry about it.

Another reminder that the state, the club, the investment funds, and the sponsors are all controlled by the same family. Everything is a related party. City are a state owned club. There are no firewalls.
🚨 EXCL: I understand that if Etihad pursues the rumoured legal action against the Premier League, it will consider this abuse of process for an improper collateral purpose and pursue legal and disciplinary action accordingly.

We have no tourists, but we also have the highest legitimate revenue in world football. Which is it.
City don’t have an army of football tourists to occupy every empty seat when locals don’t go like the other big PL clubs. UCL group stage prices have nearly doubled in the last few years, wages have not. No football fans should be attacking other fans for taking a night off.

City fans need to disillusion themselves of the idea that the club would be fine if the owners needed to divest. Here’s how any prospective sale would go: - Hi Lads, it’s US Sports Ventures / it’s Qatar / whoever, we are looking to buy the club - What is your asking price? Does this asking price include the money that you effectively pay yourselves in commercial revenue and will it factor into the price, and will you keep paying that money in if we buy? - Oh you won’t keep paying the money in? But given we ourselves can’t engage in industrial sham payments, how are we going to cover Haaland’s wages? - We’re going to offer you £2.5bn as opposed to £6bn. - *Buys club* Ok, so half the income has disappeared. We have £200m in wage liabilities that we can’t cover. We’re going to have to sell players and bring in cheaper ones. - *Sells some players* Other elite players, who thought they were going into a club as big as Real Madrid and regard themselves as best in the world - do not want to stay at what they think is a declining club. - Spiral continues - Eventually City right-size to actual revenue scale and player calibre fit. They become an upper-Europa club / fringe elite club.

His immediate reaction is to go full bitter
Breaking 💣 Andy Burnham says he has an idea to ban VAR in Labour's next election because he originally thought VAR would stop clubs like @ManUtd and @LFC from getting the big decisions.

Trophies need to be voided along with this for it to have a minimum amount of weight
So thought balloons put out by someone at the Premier League or club involved regarding a big point deduction this reason and something next. Sum total? No titles rescinded. City back in 2-3 seasons They'll keep plenty of players to compete plus academy. So 20 trophies, elevation from nationally big-ish club to globally big club, owners carry on regardless, nothing to see regarding last few years including fees, player and former managers contracts. Seems fair. If that's the punishment then I genuinely hope Newcastle United in particular just blow everyone out of the water and overheat the system in England so much that it will be impossible to compete at all. That they win every major trophy every season for 50 years and destroy English football, bankrupting 50+ clubs as they chase the impossible. Because if the punishment for a decade plus of deliberate corrupt practice is 2 or 3 seasons out of the Premier League then I'll cheer on any club in this land who does the same in the future.

Revenue growth 2007–2014: 🔵 Man City: +509% 🔴 Liverpool: +91% Liverpool had 18 league titles and 5 European Cups, yet somehow couldn’t compete commercially with a club that had won just 2 league titles. Nothing unusual about that growth whatsoever.

Why the ‘football club owners should be able to invest in themselves, like any other business!’ analogy doesn’t make any sense: Football is not like any other business

Thoughts on the game yesterday - - Wirtz, fine. But I don’t buy that he played some elite chance creation game. Good good ball for Munoz. - Barcola. Not a great, but good assist. I think he’ll get there. - Munoz. Patchy, but scrappy and fantastic goal. - Isak. Overall poor, but you’ll take that performance all day if he bangs in 25-30 a year. Elite finish.

Unbelievable achievement. And massive props to the Man City commercial department for generating the funds to buy, build and pay a squad of such talents over more than a decade.

🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Digital yellow and red cards were used during the match between Nacional and Rentistas in the Copa Uruguay. Instead of traditional cards, the referee used an electronic device to display bookings and send-offs. An innovation in football!
