#SOTEU #VDL supporting farmers starts with a preserved CAP budget. Livestock needs more than water to survive, & EU food security needs a livestock sector that isn’t just surviving, but thriving. That requires investments & funding. We are ready to discuss constructive solutions.

🍴EU Agri-Food Promotion Budget at Risk! @COPACOGECA, alongside 15 undersigned organisations, has raised the alarm in a letter to Commissioner @CHansenEU regarding the proposed €112 million budget for 2027 EU agri-food promotion policy 🟰a 45% cut compared to 2026 ! This drastic reduction threatens the progress made in recent years and undermines the stability of promotion programmes. It contradicts the @EU_Commission own commitment to strengthen agricultural promotion and risks weakening the 🇪🇺support for the agri-food sector at a critical moment. Promotion policy is a key tool for EU operators to differentiate their products and secure trade agreements in unstable global markets. Cutting this support now sends the wrong signal, especially when the Commission itself has stressed the need to diversify exports and boost the sector’s competitiveness. 📄 Read the full letter here: copa-cogeca.eu/press-release… We urge the Commission to reconsider the proposed allocation for 2027 and to restore the budget to at least €205 million, that reflects the strategic importance of agricultural promotion for the competitiveness, resilience and long-term success of the EU agri-food sector.

Zeev Noga UECBV adds: We need to look at the big picture and understand that there is no 1️⃣single solution. It’s concerning that farming is no longer attractive to young people, so we need to find ways to support this essential sector in all its forms.

🖊️Ahead of EU Leaders' retreat, 4⃣2⃣ organisations of the agri-food chain sign a joint statement: ❕If Europe is committed about strengthening its strategic independence, it must start with agriculture and food. ➡️Reducing strategic dependencies and reinforcing competitiveness in agriculture and the agri-food sector are essential foundations of a truly resilient 🇪🇺. 🧭Simplification, modernisation and investment in the competitiveness of farming and the entire agri-food chain must be placed at the centre of the EU agenda. Investing in the EU agri-food chain means investing in Europe’s common security, and geopolitical resilience. ⏰The time to deliver is now. 📣We call on EU leaders to hear the voice of the agri-food chain and take concrete action with the policies and investments needed to secure the future, resilience and competitiveness of the entire sector. 🔗Read full Joint Statement >>>>>>copa-cogeca.eu/press-release…

🚨🚜 BREAKING: MEPs pivotal vote validates EU farming community’s rightful concerns and mobilisation The result of the vote in the @Europarl_EN on the referral of the Mercosur Agreement to the ECJ clearly shows how divisive this agreement is. It also shows that the arguments put forward by the farming community, which just want fairness, have made sense to a lot of MEPs, across national and political lines. 🇪🇺 farmers and agri-cooperatives are the first to pay for geopolitical upheavals and unrest. Fair and balanced trade, coherent with internal policies needs to be a certainty, even in uncertain times. Trade policy cannot continue to reward lower standards while European farmers are asked to do more with less. The current global uncertainty is an additional reason for the EU to invest in and protect a sector that lies at the very foundation of the European project, that boosts the EU economy by contributing to a positive agri-food trade balance and sustains rural communities while providing citizens with safe, high-quality and nutritious food. 🔗Download press release: copa-cogeca.eu/press-release…
