It’s gonna be an Avenging good time!
Drop a comment for the invite link!
People of venture capital, startup investors, and founders:
I’m assembling the @AvengersVC community for two gatherings next week in the Bay Area, who should get an invite?
Comment below with what you’re building to Avenge our Future for Good!
•Palo Alto, Wednesday Oct 28th from 4-6p
•San Francisco, Thursday Oct 29th from 6-8p
Since 2021, we’ve backed 25 early-stage startups. Over drinks in a semi-private lounge, we’ll talk:
•Portfolio updates: what’s scaling, what’s working, and what’s next
•Our evolving thesis: where we see the best entry points as the market shifts
•Direct access to the builders and investors driving the climate economy
Fresh from the portfolio:
•Optivolt: Just raised a $32M Series A to put intelligence inside the solar panel itself, with 20,000+ panels already shipped.
•Terraform Industries: Now selling >99% pure synthetic methane across California, made from air and sunlight, and producing methanol and hydrogen at its Muroc test site.
•Dexmat: Cut Galvorn pricing roughly in half, with third-party TE Connectivity testing showing up to 6.2x more current per gram than copper.
•Determinant Materials: Microfactory 1 is live with American metal refining that runs in minutes, not months, at roughly half the cost. Critical metals demand skyrocketing in the AI boom.
•Solarcore: Aerogel insulation that now protects EV batteries and has made it into red dot–winning boots.
•St3ms: Banana-waste yarn now spinning at industrial speeds, with yarns out to customers in Asia, Central America, and the US.
Schedule
First hour: meet and greet
Second hour: Climate Avengers VC investing thesis updates

At @REPlusEvents 2025, our LP @JakeRozmaryn introduced me to @rohit_kalyanpur & his company @optivolt.
Having worked in solar for 20 years I’m skeptical of most new hardware in the space. As we dug in on the tech that makes every new solar panel with Optivolt more productive and valuable we got very excited.
Together, Jake and I assembled the 400+ @AvengersVC LPs to back this team and seed stage.
Today they announced their $32M Series A to usher in the next era of #SolarIsEatingTheWorld.
Today I’m excited to share that Optivolt is unstealthing with a $32M Series A.
Solar growth continues to outpace all other forms of energy production, but the granularity of control we get from deployed systems hasn’t changed in decades.
So we’ve added a brain inside solar panels, opening the door for a new unit of optimization and control.

You can now order chemically pure methane for delivery throughout California, made from sunlight and air!
“Terraform produces the gas from atmospheric carbon dioxide and renewable hydrogen using their Terraformer, while WestAir handles delivery.”
Well done @TerraformIndies & @westairgases teams!

@AvengersVC
I've been storing this one for quite a while!
We now officially supply chemically pure grade methane in California with our partner @westairgases. Photos are with our first externalized six pack during the spring.
An insane amount of hard work went into making this happen. I try not to think too much about the blood sweat and tears of the last five years but this milestone makes it particularly sweet.

Terraform is hiring! If you're an ambitious technically minded savant, Terraform is an incredible place to get exposed to every aspect of building a hardware business from sales and hiring to design test and analysis!

It’s been a lot of fun to watch @jimmydouglas and the @plugmotors team relentless test and pivot their model to unlock the hockey stick growth.
Very excited about the market they are capturing now.

Sometimes the biggest growth breakthrough comes from taking the risk everyone warned you against.
Sitting down with solofounders, I shared how Plug went from 17 to 429 sellers per quarter. After a brutal investor meeting, we broke traditional marketplace rules, went all in on consumer vehicles, secured a wholesale dealer license, and bought our first car ourselves.
What’s the biggest counterintuitive risk you’ve taken to unlock growth? Let’s discuss in the comments.

This gets at the essence of why @AvengersVC invests in Carbon to Value.
It’s environmental capitalism that will fix this.
Proud to be a backer of the amazing team @TerraformIndies
The opening words of that full Alex Jones rant, as I know because it’s my alarm every morning, are:
“Look when you realize how fake it all is: the football, the basketball, the lady gaga, the Justin Bieber, who give you these carbon tax messages…”
This has me thinking about our work at Terraform.
Fundamentally we’re extracting revenue out of every tonne of emitted CO2. This is why we win, we are on the right side of capitalism and will be an extremely positive force on the future of humanity as the fly wheel of continual reinvestment and technology development on the Terraformed gets going.
In contrast, you have carbon taxes that are fundamentally unproductive.
Take something that generates value, and penalize it.
This is how we all end up poor and cold and depressed, with rent seekers in control trying to extinguish every bit of dynamism there is, like I’ve heard is happening in Britain.
In contrast, Terraform is a rewarded for every tonne of emitted CO2. Instead of penalizing emission of CO2, we’ll even pay you and cut into our margin (I’m just an intern at Terraform, but in principle this is what collocating DAC with CO2 emitters does).
It takes builders to accrue value and rent seekers to destroy it. Either we can reward CO2 emission and minimize negative externalities (close the CO2 loop), or we can tax it and die early deaths.
We will win.
Happy 250th.

From boots to batteries. Solarcore shows up in more places than you think. Built for performance—wherever it’s needed.
The solar geek in us is very excited for the low tilt, fixed east-west super dense low cost solar array.
Even tho the rest of the actual Terraformer tech stack is where all the truly cutting edge science is happening.

Onwards, #ClimateAvengers!
Also there is no better conductive material than @DexmatInc #Galvorn for wireless charging! It substantially outperforms #copper at the high frequencies required for applications like wireless charging and radio communications.

“I predict that by 2042, 95% of humanity’s energy usage will be downstream of solar PV power” - @CJHandmer CEO of Avengers portco @TerraformIndies
"10 years ago, my colleagues and I looked at the prognosis for Climate Change, and it looked pretty hopeless. There really was no way out.”
Then, they found a way out.
In our first-ever Freethink Interview, Casey Handmer (@CJHandmer) explains how.
Yes, many plastics are made from oil.
@ABioplastics fixes this. We have the solutions!
Deploy deploy deploy.
Yes! Carbon nanotube fibers can be used to create thermoelectric generators—directly transforming thermal energy into electrical energy. 🤯 #tilcarbon

We present the Avengers Carbon to Value (utilization) portfolio:
@AetherDiamonds (new brand coming soon!)
@dimensionalnrg
@DexmatInc
@TerraformIndies
@MetalplantCDR
We invest in world positive ventures, including those turning carbon into useful products.
Anyone investing private capital for carbon removal only (not utilization), is essentially taking a bet on future policies that provide a large market for their service. Everyone - investors, the companies, etc - better be financially prepared to wait for that policy, or figure out another source of sustainable revenue.
