I recently compiled a good chronology of the residential schools problem in Canada, which reveals a track record of the Government of Canada being the central problem, (as they continue to disregard Canadian lives with MAID): brotherhoodofstjoseph.ca/doc

At this moment in history, when France is at risk of disappearing, my friend @Erga3x and I decided to perform a 19th-century hymn to Saint Joan of Arc, who led French troops during the Hundred Years’ War and reclaimed the throne.⚜ More than six centuries after her trafic death, Joan remains a symbol of courage and love for one’s country. She reminds us that even when everything seems lost, a single person driven by faith and determination can awaken an entire nation. (Find the link to our folk music channel in the description.)

Well, another Cardinal has come out with a, shall we say, puzzling take on evangelization. A few years ago, Cardinal AmĂ©rico Aguiar, at the time auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, said that he and the other organizers of World Youth Day in his hometown had no interest in converting anyone to Christ. Now Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria has opined that “the Church is not there to convert” and “Christians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.” Excuse me, but
what? Last time I checked, the Founder said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Sure sounds like conversion to me. When St. Paul came to Corinth or Athens or Thessalonica, his purpose was not to listen or to form a discussion group but rather to declare an unnerving message: the euangelion (glad tidings) that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. So impassioned is he for this work that he says, “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:22); and “If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:16)! Moreover, the entire thrust of the Second Vatican Council was toward bringing the Light of Christ to the peoples of the world (Lumen Gentium). And this missionary Ă©lan has given rise in the last few decades to the idea of a “new evangelization,” which is to say, a fresh declaration of the Lordship of Christ. Quite obviously, no one thinks that this work of evangelization should be done in a brow-beating, overbearing, or disrespectful manner (proselytization), but for God’s sake, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job.

I am writing this without consulting my lawyer because it is the right thing to do, regardless of the legal implications. In early August, I made a terrible mistake by claiming that Byron Donalds and Cory Mills were under federal investigation. I received this information from someone I trusted, but I accept the DOJ’s public statement that neither man is under investigation, which means that I bore false witness. As a Catholic, I take the Ten Commandments seriously. After speaking with my priest and going to confession, I have a moral obligation to publicly retract my statement and apologize. I apologize to Byron, Cory, and their families for what I said. To be clear, neither man nor their lawyers asked me to write this, and neither has ever contacted me about it. I sinned against my fellow man, and I am sorry. I ask God for forgiveness and pray that I can make amends. In Christ, James T. Fishback Charlottesville, VA

Shocking - New Liberal MAID bill would allow MAID/euthanasia to be administered in certain circumstances WITHOUT informing the patient of what is about to happen. If someone signs an advance request, the practitioner would NOT be required to even talk to them before ending their life.

Sexual compatibility is one of the greatest lies of modern times. They’ll have you convinced it’s some sort of factual number you need to test before you commit to someone. But when people say this what they usually mean is — can you perform in some sort of fashion that would give me the most pleasure? It’s nothing to do with love, with devotion, with meaning, and it has everything to do with the body, with our flesh. Sexual intimacy is not something we can discover, it is only something we can build, and building intimacy is done by trust, by being exclusive and most of all by the lifelong covenant that is marriage. A good and healthy sexual relationship comes from fidelity, love and devotion, not the other way around. You cannot build a roof without first having a foundation. And so now that pleasure has become this new standard by which we now measure love and our desire for long term commitments it is no wonder that nobody ever stays for long. Pleasure is a terrible foundation, and that is because it was made to be the overflow, not the source.

🚹 I AM ACTUALLY IN SHOCK RIGHT NOW! For the FIRST TIME in my life, I strongly agree with Wab Kinew. He just called on Mark Carney to ABOLISH THE INDIAN ACT. His argument? Canada should no longer have a race-based form of identification. EVERY CANADIAN DESERVES EQUAL DIGNITY AND RESPECT. Never thought I’d say this, but Kinew has started a conversation Canada desperately needs to have.

NEW: Members of the organising body of the annual Latin Mass pilgrimage to Rome have issued a statement about the weekend & the various restrictions faced —— “Many members and supporters take part in the pilgrimage and we as an organisation are a member of the Caetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum; we regard the annual pilgrimage as having great significance for the movement for the Traditional Mass. We would like to correct some misunderstandings which have arisen over the organisation of the pilgrimage this year.  The authorities (through the Secretariat of State) declined the Coetus’ request for the celebration of Mass in St Peter’s, in August. At that point it was hoped and assumed that it would nevertheless be possible to have a collective devotion of some kind for the pilgrims, in St Peter’s, as happened in 2023 and 2024 when permission for Mass was refused. The August letter did not rule this out, so the Coetus requested it.  This request was refused in a letter dated 30th September, which was however not received by the organisers until well into October.  In the meantime permission was sought and gained for a Prelatial (Pontifical) Low Mass in St Mary Major.  The Coetus was privileged to be allowed a Mass there on a Saturday, which is not normally allowed for pilgrim groups. A very reasonable time slot was allocated for this, and Mass ended at about 4:15, as would be expected.  The Cardinal Archpriest, the sacristans, and the Basilica security were all very helpful, and we are very grateful to them. The Dominican priests whose role is to hear confessions in the Basilica made themselves available to the pilgrims.  We are also grateful to the Lissom Grove choir and to the 1,500 pilgrims who filled this ancient Basilica.” ---- Una Voce International @UnaVoceOfficial Full & further details on @CatholicHerald

The blurring of the distinctions between male and female and man and machine are both simply the latest consequences of an anti-teleological philosophy of nature that has deceptively cloaked itself in the mantle of science since early modernity. More here: claremontreviewofbooks.com/g

The hyper vigilance of traditional Catholics runs the risk of outright avoiding charity, which will only deepen the chasm of ecclesial disconnection afflicting our faith.
Good grief. Again, I attend the TLM in Rome with the ICKSP and with the FSSP when I'm in the States. I have attended this TLM pilgrimage many times over the years. I am NOT a journalist or blogger who gets paid to rage. I am, however, someone who has been organizing pilgrimages like this for decades and knows exactly how the Vatican and the churches work. The news over the last few days is that the TLM pilgrimage Mass was not allowed in Saint Peter's Basilica, that the Vatican threw together an event to block them, that the group was denied entry into the basilica to pray, and that they were only allowed one hour at Saint Mary Major at the last minute, with no photos. Let me break this down... Celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis were being planned as early as 2021. Meetings took place with Pope Francis in 2022 to discuss the events. In January 2025, the Italian government met with Vatican officials to plan the events. In January 2026, Vatican News referenced planned events to take place throughout the year. So despite what some are saying, the Franciscan event that is happening today was not thrown together to block this Mass at the last minute. In fact, this event coincides with a huge event that starts tomorrow in Assisi, where 5,000 people have registered and which Pope Leo was originally scheduled to attend. When the organizers requested the Mass for this day, they were told the altar was already reserved and offered another day or another location. They chose another location, Saint Mary Major. No scandal. As for the procession, the group was not banned from entering. They were not allowed to process in. They could not carry their flags and banners and would have to enter through security like everyone else. If you check the photos, you'll see that the line at that time was over an hour long. So if they arrived at their scheduled time of 1 p.m., it would have been difficult to get through security and across town in time for their 3 p.m. Mass. đŸ‘đŸ» Props to the PR people who positioned the group for a photo in front of the walls set up for construction of the Nativity scene instead of moving them over a few feet for an unobstructed view of the basilica! đŸ‘đŸ» Last year, we were able to process in because there was a dedicated entrance for the Jubilee with very little wait. Anyone could process in (unfortunately), which is why we ended up with some inappropriate processions. But that was an exception during the Jubilee. Normally, groups cannot just process beyond the piazza, as was the case today. As for the Mass at Saint Mary Major, they allow one hour for Mass. I have been here with cardinals leading pilgrimages of hundreds of people. Do you know how much time they were allowed for Mass? One hour. Saint Mary Major says on their Mass reservation form and in their confirmation emails that private groups are allowed one hour. Could they have made an exception? Sure, but they don't usually for cardinals bringing busloads of people, so why would they here? And for the photos during Mass, permission to use a professional photographer has to be requested well in advance. Did the organizers know this and make the proper request? I don't know. Professional photos on Vatican property, including Saint Peter's Basilica, Saint Peter's Square, Saint Mary Major, Saint John Lateran, Saint Paul Outside the Walls, and the Scala Santa, require special permission. I've been making these requests for years. It's simple, but getting a reply takes time. It is the Vatican, after all. So perhaps they did not have permission or even ask for permission. There is plenty to question in the Church, but if you're not looking for clicks, this looks more like poor planning and poor communication, possibly on both sides, than some grand conspiracy.

Conversely, a lack of genuine pastoral accompaniment from Church authorities creates an administrative vacuum, reinforcing the hyper-vigilance it seeks to correct.

Let me know if any of this is incorrect
But first, I mostly go to FSSP in the US and ICKSP in Rome. I’ve also spent the last two decades organizing pilgrimages and know all the ins and outs of planning group pilgrimages. Ok, so the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage NEVER had permission for Mass in Saint Peter’s Basilica this year?(Yet they still advertise it on their site.) Their requested date interfered with an already scheduled Mass and lecture on the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis. So they were given the choice between another day or having the Mass at Saint Mary Major. But only yesterday, or maybe today, they told those on the pilgrimage the church had changed? Part of this pilgrimage has always been to visit the tomb of Saint Peter. So when they asked for permission to have the pilgrimage visit the tomb of Saint Peter, they were still told they could not AT THE REQUESTED TIME because of the planned event. This is also still on their website, although they knew months ago? Back in August? And now everyone who likes clicks and controversy is saying the Vatican BANNED them, but really they asked for a date that wasn’t available and wouldn’t agree to change their date, which I completely understand is not easy to do. Last year’s Mass with Cardinal Burke was glorious, but if the basilica is already booked, the basilica is already booked. Right? I also think we should have a high TLM weekly in Saint Peter’s Basilica. ✌

This is exactly the type of thing that makes MAID a slippery slope. People start equating actual murder with it and murder itself starts to have more in common with “morally acceptable” behaviour.

Attention, ignorant know-nothing journalists and the people who take them seriously: Women cannot "answer the call to become Catholic priests" because only men are called by God to become Catholic priests and only men can be validly ordained by the Catholic Church. Women can call themselves "priests" and "Catholic" the same as they can call themselves the reincarnation of Cleopatra but they are not and can never be Catholic priests. And, no, that does not diminish the stature of Catholic women. Priests are not "better" than any other members of the Church. They are not "better" than lay women. They are not "better" than lay men. They simply have a unique role, appointed to them by Christ Himself beginning with Peter, who was, as the Bible itself documents, a far from perfect human being. Unfortunately, for feminist women it's all about assuaging their prickly egos. And "joining the club" like the Church is akin to Augusta National in the 1980's. For feminists, it is NOT about serving the Church. It is NOT about serving Christ. Men and women who are not priests or even members of religious orders can equally serve the Church - and Christ - without ever being ordained. Or without ever becoming a monk or nun. Believe it or not, a Catholic layperson can even become a saint.

I told a teacher I don’t believe in “gender identity.” Her reaction suggested she’d never encountered that perspective before. Like so many people, she seemed to assume that TQ+++ was a natural extension of LG(B). Everyone has been gaslit for decades -- especially teachers -- that 'gender identity' exists and is as valid in its existence as sexual orientation and MORE real than biological sex. I had to tell her, "Look, I am standing here as a lesbian telling you that the 'T' has nothing to do with sexual orientation and actually works against the reality of homosexuality. It's telling young people that men can be lesbians and women can be gay men. It teaches effeminate boys and tomboy girls they could actually be 'born in the wrong body' instead of teaching self-confidence in themselves in their perfectly healthy bodies. She couldn’t seem to grasp what I was saying: that rigid ideas about gender roles are regressive and harmful, particularly for children who don’t conform to stereotypes. Instead of teaching them to accept themselves as they are, we risk teaching them that there’s something wrong with them that needs explaining.
I enjoyed this panel and the lively audience interaction. Allowing TQ+ identitarianism to take over the LGB rights movement has been a disaster for LGB people. The so-called “LGBTQ+ community” is a movement based on belief in universal gender identity. Lumping LGB together with TQ+ makes no more sense than having a “community” of vegans and chicken farmers.

By all means resist, but if you resist in the name of the false gods of liberalism, Enlightenment, ethnic purity, jingoistic nostalgia, or anything other than return to the Christian faith that built our civilization, you will not get to the root of the problem and ultimately you will fail. What Islamists understand that too many Westerners, left and right, do not understand is that in the long run you cannot defeat religion except with religion. And they do not understand it because they are in their different ways blinded by attachment to the things of this world – economic wellbeing, political power, freedom, pleasure, security, national pride – things which have their place but have become idols. Hence, again and again, they flail about looking for some secular political solution, whether left-wing or right-wing, to a problem that is at bottom theological.
“Resist it while you still can... the barbarian never take the city until someone holds the gates open for them and it’s your own preachers and multicultural authorities who’ll do it for you...” Christopher Hitchens

The normalization of casual sex destroyed our comprehension of what sex is, and what it has to do with healthy relationships. Women have one reproductive strategy: high investment. Men have two strategies: high investment (which is collaborative, and has everything to do with love) and no investment (which is predatory, and is the antithesis of love). That may sound like an exaggeration, but it isn’t. The ‘no investment’ strategy of men attempts to stick a woman with a child to raise alone, or with a cuckolded partner. It has a consensual form, and a non-consensual form. Does any of that sound loving to you? I didn’t think so. For men, producing a child with a trivial effort is the ultimate evolutionary bargain. It’s something like winning the lottery. For women, being stuck with a baby and no partner is the inverse, like being maimed in car wreck. So men are predisposed to be on the lookout for fertile women who are gullible enough to go to bed with them without locking down a commitment. And women are predisposed to avoid such encounters at all costs. Or at least they were before birth control + abortion changed the stakes and the culture. Women, who have always been the gatekeepers of sex, have been lured into embracing men at their worst. And they’ve started behaving and thinking like them too. There is actually a lot of truth in the idea that “rape culture” has been normalized. Casual sex is not rape by any stretch, but it comes from the same predatory branch of the tree. And before you jump down my throat for saying that, notice just how commonplace “consensual con-consent” has become. That IS normalized rape culture. It comes from the idea that sex is a kind of play. Just like kids playing with toy tanks and soldiers, it’s harmless because the stakes are low and no one actually gets hurt. But it turns out that’s not true. Casual sex is like playing with fire. Actually, it’s worse. Many who play with fire get away with it. They may even learn how to wield it to great effect. The exact opposite is true with sex. If you play with having sex with people that you don’t love, you are damaging the very architecture you will need to form a healthy romantic partnership. Even worse if they bring the same selfish mindset to the alter and the bedroom. For young people participating in their generation’s culture, sex now IS antagonistic and predatory. Most of them don’t know there is any other kind. It’s just some story, like Santa Clause. Not only has this shift in sexual culture obliterated the tools to forge and tend a healthy marriage, but it has also broken the motivational structure that built civilization. —- Exhibit A bellow. Please don’t jump on her. She is voicing a false sophistication of her era. And although I believe what she has said is wrong, exactly why it is wrong, and to what degree it is wrong, requires careful thought.
A woman’s body isn’t something men are entitled to. If you believe women owe you sex, you’re part of the problem that normalises rape culture. It really is that simple
