As a child Avram would send me lecture prep cassettes. As we countdown to 100, I wanted to share his voice with friends & fans. 100% Avram. Please feel free to share and invite fans to follow us.

The more I read from Avram Davidson, the more I recognize that there is a certain writing style which is characteristic of people who have studied the Talmud and also write fantasy and Science Fiction. I’m thinking of writing an essay about this.

Just read 'Rork!' by Avram Davidson. Quirky! Lively 1960s SF novel sees man clash with aliens in pursuit of medicine.

The example of Avram Davidson taught me that the strongest characters are each at least a little mad.

In other words, while Davidson is a little known author to many, I consider him a more skilled writer than Joyce. He's sometimes a difficult writer, but his difficulty pays off.

A discussion about Finnegans Wake made me understand why I admire Avram Davidson. Like Joyce, Davidson is digressive, complex, and full of allusions. But the difference is that in Davidson is that all these traits are tightly woven into the story; they're not just one-off jokes.

Not to always shove in an apt sf story, but one of the most Jewish stories ever written, the Golem by Avram Davidson. (If you buy the audiobook Robots Through the Ages, you can hear Leonard Nimoy narrate it) nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/…
