Part of why shops close is that there is nothing shops have in common other than ordering from the same publishers. There are no standards to how we do business. It's not the audience, it's not the comics. It's the lack of consistency and availability.

I love comic stores. I’ve been an advocate, especially on my podcast. They are cherished clubhouses that serve fandom. 5 comic stores, 6 locations, have closed in Orange County in the last 5 years. None have been replaced. The flashing red light of the industry is that accounts are going to order online without stores. They won’t carry full menu’s. The middle range will likely fade.

This week Flash has officially become the longest I’ve worked on a single title and character. I’d had 174 pages of Superman and 144 pages of JSA under my belt and I’ve now hit 180 pages of The Flash, with many more to go.
