This is as bad as it gets. The AZ PIRG letter is clear how personnel matters are supposed to be handled.

Nope.
We’ve served Arizona for 140 years, in the towns and communities where we live. As Arizona experiences extraordinary growth, our responsibility to protect customers has never been more important.
That’s why APS is ensuring that residential and small-business customers are not paying for data center power usage – and why we’re taking steps to make sure they won’t in the future.
Unfortunately, recent @12News reporting makes false and misleading claims about data center costs. The simple truth is that our rate structures are working as designed to avoid cost shifts. Get the facts here: tr.ee/T2mhGw

While standing at APS headquarters, explaining the APS Data Center Cost Shift analysis, I had 2 coincidental encounters within minutes reminding me how vital this entire project is. Both men represent APS customers. What is Blue & Orange? Find out here: 12news.com/video/news/invest…

Here's another interesting way to understand the cost shift model: The 117 largest commercial and industrial businesses in APS territory paid 21 CENTS ON THE DOLLAR compared to what they would have paid if the Arizona Commissioners had ensured "growth paid for growth," ('23-'25).
Customers overwhelmingly support solar. There is more value in solar’s low and stable price, no air emissions and water saving than a one-time $15 bill credit.
ACC Approves Bill Credit for APS customers: For residential customers, the average bill credit amounts to approximately $15. The one-time credit will appear on customers' November 2026 electricity bill. For more info, go to

Current and former staff at the AZ Corporation Commission tell me there is turmoil at the commission after the Exec Director abruptly fired the policy advisor for Leah Marquez Peterson. Commissioner Peterson issued a statement, saying she does not believe the law allows this.

Commissioner Kevin Thompson is reposting an unsupported claim by the utility he regulates. The AZ power company APS has declined since July 29th to explain why its investor reports and gov filings reveal customers paid $587 million for data center sector outsourced power.

A long, but worthwhile read from @JoeDanaReports.
‘Analysis: APS customers paid $587 million for data center sector growth. APS denies claim.’ It’s pretty clear growth hasn’t been paying for growth… And there’s always more under the rocks.

With energy bills rising and our Colorado River water supplies cut by almost 30%, we can't keep approving projects and hope for the best. I look forward to hearing directly from Arizonans about this critically important issue.

The ACC directly affects utility bills, including whether to approve rate increases sought by utilities. And @ClaraforAZ has made affordability a top priority, drawing on her own experience growing up without reliable access to water and electricity.
