Good comments by Google explaining how a proposal to speed up data center interconnections will cause ratepayers to pay for transmission upgrades.

Clean energy groups, states oppose MISO’s large load-generation study plan
The grid operator’s proposed fast-track study process for large loads with generation lacks ratepayer protections, critics said.

A historic moment for American energy: 140,000+ home batteries | 580 megawatts
As California baked under extreme heat and energy demand surged on September 9, Sunrun and @teslaenergy dispatched more than 140,000 home batteries, delivering 580 MW of peak power to the state's grid in the largest residential distributed power plant event ever recorded in the United States.
The dispatch event provided enough capacity to power every household in Sacramento County during peak hours. The extra power helped increase the grid's operating margin and put downward pressure on real-time energy prices for everyone in the state.
Through grid service programs like DSGS and ELRP, home storage and solar are doing more than providing backup power and energy security to families. They’re helping make the grid more affordable and reliable while reducing the need for costly new poles, wires, and peaker plants.
Everyday homeowners are keeping California's grid stable and making history in the process, all while being compensated for it. That’s the energy future we’re building in America.

We’re excited to share that Sunrun CEO @MaryGPowell will be joining @FortuneMagazine's Fortune 500 Innovation Forum in Detroit next month to discuss what the next century of American ingenuity will take and why energy is at the heart of that conversation.
America is at an incredible inflection point. AI, electrification, and manufacturing are reshaping America’s energy needs and accelerating the speed at which we need to bring more power online. We’re looking forward to hearing Mary share how Sunrun is putting the power of homes to work to help deliver the reliable, affordable energy our country needs to keep leading the world in innovation.

A new audit report provides further documentation that the City of San Diego does not suffer from a lack of revenue, it suffers from a lack of accountability and a culture of mismanagement.
“two electricians found by the audit to have spent 198 hours – the equivalent of 25 workdays – parked for long stretches at sites where no documented repairs took place.”

It’s time for the California Power Hour. ⚡️
As Governor, I’ll launch a first-in-the-nation program giving millions of working families two free hours of electricity every day.
Families of four making $82,500 or less will qualify - potentially saving hundreds of dollars a year.
Cool your home. Do your laundry. Run your dishwasher. Don’t get charged for it.
As Governor, I’ll make California’s energy work for working Californians.

Too many trainings are poor drills implemented by good people.
Too few coaches have experience in learning design and pedagogy. Why would they?
And yet, the coach is 100% responsible for designing a learning environment based upon effective protocols.

We have two good candidates for Congress in San Francisco, but I'm voting for @Scott_Wiener. He's been a tireless fighter for the city, first as a supervisor and then in the State Senate. He takes climate change and clean energy seriously, and he's focused on bringing down costs for Californians.

FBI case agent releases WhatsApp exchange between Andy Duong and business partner, Mario Juarez, apparently laying out the pay-to-play scheme with former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao. See the actual message in my report below. It includes:
- $75,000 for negative mailers against Thao’s opponent
- $300,000 for Thao’s partner, Andre Jones
- Oakland to buy 300 modular homes at $300,000 each from the Duongs
- contract extension for Duongs’ company, California Waste Solutions
- Duongs pick people to fill various city posts
Juarez asks, “Should we share with David?”
Andy Duong answers, “David knows already.”
That’s apparently David Duong, Andy’s father, CWS founder, and now, co-defendant in the bribery and corruption trial.

PROMOTION/RELEGATION SET TO ARRIVE IN AMERICAN SOCCER IN 2028 🇺🇸📈
USL has unveiled new branding as it prepares to introduce promotion and relegation across three men’s professional divisions:
▫️ USL Premier — Division One
▫️ USL Championship — Division Two
▫️ USL League One — Division Three
Clubs would earn promotion, or face relegation, based on their results on the field.
The new look launches in January 2027, with USL Premier and the promotion/relegation system planned for 2028.

The cost of constant instruction
Every time a coach supplies the answer, a player loses an opportunity to search for one.
Instruction has its place. So does silence.
Sometimes the most valuable thing a coach can do is resist the urge to intervene.

"Taking on utility companies for unfair electric bills..." for the win.
Humbled to have President @BarackObama standing with us. As a former teacher, a dad, and the Attorney General who’s gone to bat for Nevadans, I’ll keep fighting for you as Governor: lowering costs, making housing affordable, and holding the line on your taxes.
Thank you, Mr. President. Nevada, let’s do this. Early voting starts this Saturday, October 17th.

What is happening at the Kansas State House is also, unfortunately, happening at California’s.
Dwindling local press = less coverage of state action, lack of institutional knowledge, & officials becoming less accustomed to interacting with reporters:

New: PG&E CEO Patti Poppe says SF's attempted power grid takeover could cost "north of $20 billion."
SF has offered far less, but PG&E's figure includes more things, such as the cost of physically separating the city's system from the rest of the grid.

When your job is to stop people from entering the pitch, but your GOAT is about to take a free kick 🥶
Always.
Hugo Chávez seized more than 1,000 private companies between 2002 and 2012, and every single one produced less under state control than it did before the expropriators walked in. Not most. All of them.
Take SIDOR, the steel giant Chávez nationalized in 2008. It shipped 4.3 million tons that year; by 2019 output had collapsed below 200,000 tons. Chávez purged PDVSA of 18,000 skilled workers in 2003 and stuffed it with loyalists; the company, sitting on the largest proven oil reserves on earth, pumped 3.2 million barrels a day in 1998 and under 400,000 by 2020. The state also grabbed Agroisleña, the country's main farm supplier, renamed it Agropatria, and fertilizer promptly vanished from the shelves. Cement, electricity, banking, rice mills: same pattern, every time.
Bad luck does not repeat a thousand times. A bureaucrat who faces no profit-and-loss test cannot calculate. Without market prices for capital goods, he cannot know whether the factory he runs creates value or burns it. Central planners lack the information needed to allocate resources efficiently. Venezuela ran that experiment a thousand times over, same result each time.
The managers who replaced the owners were not stupid. They responded rationally to their actual incentives: please Caracas, hit political quotas, skim before the next purge. Output was nobody's problem because output was nobody's property.
If your government starts seizing companies "for the people," the production those companies generate is already gone. Expropriation transfers assets while destroying the wealth those assets once created, and the people it claims to serve absorb the shortage.
