🚨#UPDATE: A GoFundMe has been started for the HERO Kaylub Giamanco, the father who stopped the gunman at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Giamanco, a local carpenter and dad of two girls who attend the school, was driving home on his lunch break when he heard the shots. He FOLLOWED the shooter into the building and put him down before police arrived. His brother has confirmed the details to NBC News. The fundraiser, organized by a close friend, is raising money for trauma therapy, lost income, and support for Kaylub, his wife Kelsey, and their two daughters as they process what happened. This man stepped up when it mattered most. He and his family will need both financial help and emotional support in the days ahead. 🙏 gofundme.com/f/stand-with-ka…

Check out this useful definition of “mental health” from psychoanalytic instructor @JonathanShedler. It’s an assembly of attributes and practices that can be quantified and discussed in session, rather than merely conjectured.

The abandonment depression is first experienced at an age when the young child cannot reflect on it or articulate what is happening. The child simply feels that the flow of life is cruelly disrupted & that he teeters on the verge of annihilation should the vital support of the mother be lost or withheld. Thank you for sharing my post about typos or homophones, a specialty of mine. I find spelling errors in 95% of published books! Why is that so high? My favorite homophone set is: write, rite, right and wright. wordrefiner.com. @AnneFitzKennedy

The manipulation by a narcissistic parent is often skilled and subtle. They use a combination of passive and active aggression to get their way. Our guest contributor looks at the complex emotions she felt after the death of her narcissistic father. buff.ly/3x4fsRr

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future. As we mark 100 years of celebrating Black history, let’s honor the sacrifices of the leaders who came before us, and recommit ourselves to continuing their work.

“The spirit of the Native people, the first people, has never died—their spirit lives in the rocks and the forests, the rivers and the mountains. It murmurs in the brooks and whispers in the trees. The hearts of these people were formed of the earth that we now walk—and their voice can never be silenced.” ~K.Nerburn,

“There is a road in the hearts of all of us, hidden and seldom traveled, which leads to an unknown, secret place! The old people came literally to love the soil & they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power.” ~ L. Standing Bear, Sicangu/Oglala Lakota (1868-1939)
