This week, the U.S. Treasury published its latest, tragic list of people who gave up U.S. citizenship or long-term residence. It names 1,331 people for the third quarter. Since January, 4,574 names have appeared on these lists, 16% more than over the same period of 2025 and more than in 2024. You have to go back to 2020 to find a higher nine-month total: 2026 ranks second since 2008. @WaysMeansCmte @WaysandMeansGOP @SenFinance @SenateFinance @YourVoiceAtIRS @RepLaHood @SenToddYoung

Meet Roy in France. He was recruited there more than 30 years ago for a technology job, met his French wife, started a family and built a middle-class life while staying connected to the United States.
But U.S. tax compliance has made ordinary family decisions expensive and complicated.
Read and share Roy’s story: taxfairnessabroad.pulse.ly/z…
His family’s French SCI, a common structure used to hold real estate and help pass property to children, became a U.S. reporting problem. Roy says he paid a U.S. tax attorney $5,000 for advice and was told keeping it would require Form 8865 filings costing about $2,500 every year.
Now his children, who also have U.S. citizenship, are starting their adult financial lives abroad. Roy says he actively discourages them from opening certain accounts or starting businesses because of possible U.S. tax compliance consequences.
Americans abroad should be able to build families, own property, start businesses and help our children begin their lives without being penalized for living outside the United States.

Our long-range sanctions have targeted the Rostov region. The Kamensky Combine, a Russian defense industry enterprise involved in missile production, was hit.
A Pantsir-S2 system and a command and staff vehicle of the S-400 Triumf system were also hit. The total value of the air defense assets struck is around $70 million.
I thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine @ServiceSsu and other units of the Defense Forces for their accuracy! We are justly defending ourselves against Russian aggression and doing everything to reduce Russia’s capability to continue it.

The Kstovo Oil Refinery (NORSI) is Russia’s fourth-largest refinery and second-largest gasoline producer. Operated by Lukoil, it opened in 1958 and can process 17 million metric tons of crude annually... until today.😜

One week go to, folks. The best thing is, the bill on which we've been working for the past two years has been designed in a bipartisan spirit. So we're fine with however the elections turn out -- as long as the candidates support some form of residence-based taxation!

Meet Alex in the United Kingdom. Dual citizenship was supposed to give her more freedom and more choices about where she could live.
Instead, her U.S. citizenship has become a tax trap that has cost her jobs, bank accounts, life opportunities and thousands of pounds in professional fees, even though the most U.S. tax she has ever owed was about $8.
Read and share Alex’s story: taxfairnessabroad.pulse.ly/x…
Every year, Alex pays between £400 and £800 to a tax adviser for the privilege of being told she owes nothing. She and her partner have even put off getting married because they are afraid of tax implications they do not yet understand.
Americans abroad should not have to choose between our U.S. citizenship and the freedom to build normal lives in the countries we call home.

Have you reminded your representatives in Congress that 5 million Americans live overseas, many of whom vote in their districts ? Or that U.S. tax laws lead to double taxation and other related problems for Americans abroad? It's fine to remind them of this after the elections, too, but while they're still in campaign mode it would be good to remind them that this is the ONE issue that unites Americans abroad and you'll only support candidates that support ending double taxation and related FATCA and FBAR reporting obligations for Americans who live abroad full-time.
Follow our simple instructions (link in first comment) to send them the message that double taxation is wrong and that the solution will soon be on their tables: the Residence-Based Taxation for Americans Abroad Act.

Meet Emberleigh in Mexico. She has lived there since her early 20s, and she is trying to do what families everywhere do: save for retirement, invest responsibly, own property and build a secure future for her children.
But for Americans abroad, even ordinary investing can become a tax trap. Emberleigh says U.S. mutual funds are hard to access from abroad, while local mutual funds can trigger punitive PFIC tax and reporting rules.
Read and share Emberleigh’s story: taxfairnessabroad.pulse.ly/n…
Now she worries her dual-citizen children may one day feel forced to choose between their U.S. citizenship and normal financial lives.
Americans abroad should not be financially trapped by a second tax and reporting system everywhere we go. We need residence-based taxation.
