3 August 2026 Market update: Bitcoin is holding a familiar range this morning, trading around US$63,500 after chopping between US$62,475 and US$65,100 over the past few sessions. Friday's US spot Bitcoin ETF data showed a US$265.37 million daily net outflow, reversing Thursday's US$233.1 million inflow, though cumulative net inflows remain solid at US$51.32 billion and total net assets sit at US$76.29 billion, around 6.04% of Bitcoin's market cap.
Key takeaway: short-term ETF flows are choppy day to day, but the multi-billion-dollar cumulative base built since launch hasn't gone anywhere.
@ethereum told a different story. ETH ETFs added a net US$9 million on the day, led by @BlackRock's staked ETF product, and over the past 10 sessions Ethereum funds have added US$113.8 million against a US$27.6 million outflow from Bitcoin funds.
Key takeaway: this kind of rotation between BTC and ETH ETFs is a normal feature of institutional positioning, not a signal to chase.
Elsewhere, decentralised exchanges captured a record 24.14% of spot trading volume in July, with @solana's on chain activity leading the pack, and XRP ETFs extended a four-month inflow streak.
Geopolitically, easing tension around the Strait of Hormuz took some heat out of oil markets over the weekend, with limited spillover into crypto.
Key events this week:
· CLARITY Act's narrow Senate window before recess
· @circle's Q2 earnings
· MARA earnings (6 Aug)
· Concentrated token unlocks (ENA/AVAX/CONX/ZRO/KAITO)
What to watch this week: whether Bitcoin can reclaim its 50-day EMA, which would open the door to a test of the low US$67,000s.
Learning note: An EMA, or exponential moving average, is a rolling average of an asset's price that weights recent prices more heavily than older ones, so it tracks the current trend more closely than a simple average would.

The Coldcard situation, explained in under 60 seconds
Coldcard is a hardware wallet, a small physical device people use to store Bitcoin offline, away from the internet.
When you set one up, it generates a seed phrase, 12 to 24 ordinary words that act as the master key to your wallet. Every private key it ever uses comes from that phrase. Whoever holds it, holds the coins.
For a seed phrase to be safe, it needs entropy, genuine, unpredictable randomness. High entropy means there's no pattern an outsider could guess or reproduce.
A 2021 firmware bug meant some Coldcard Mk3 devices generated that seed phrase using software-based randomness instead of true hardware randomness, and that randomness had far less entropy than it should. Lower entropy means more predictable. Attackers could work out likely seed phrases offline, check them against known Bitcoin addresses, and sweep the funds when they matched.
Worth noting: longer seed phrases carry more entropy by design, which is exactly why 24-word phrases are considered safer than 12-word ones.
Important distinction: Bitcoin wasn't hacked. Every stolen transaction was validly signed with a real key. The flaw was in one manufacturer's device, a layer built on top of Bitcoin, not the protocol itself.

Bitcoin trades US$62,800 to US$63,800 after US-Iran escalation triggered risk-off selling and US$350M+ in liquidations. Geopolitics is driving price action, with Strait of Hormuz risk keeping oil and rate-cut timelines in focus.
The flow story is stronger. US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in US$132.3M on 17 July, led by @BlackRock IBIT at US$136.48M, ending 8 straight weeks of outflows. @ethereum ETFs added US$105.44M for the week.
@solana momentum building, US$500M in USDC inflows from @circle, US$900M in RWA capital over 30 days, and 100M+ monthly active users. @Grayscale filed updated docs for a SOL staking ETF. SOL steady near US$75.
One to watch: CLARITY Act Senate vote expected this week. Passage would classify XRP, Ethereum and Solana as digital commodities under CFTC jurisdiction. US$64,000 is the level Bitcoin needs to reclaim. @btcmarkets

16 July 2026 - Daily market wrap: Cooling US inflation is good news well beyond crypto. CPI at 3.5%, PPI negative, Fed hike odds down to 13%. Cheaper money ahead means mortgages, business loans and growth assets all breathe easier. BTC up 3.6% to US$64,800, @ethereum up 5.3% to US$1,880.
Japan just made crypto a normal investment, a flat 20% tax instead of up to 55%, plus a path to spot Bitcoin ETFs. And DTCC, which settles US$114 trillion in securities, ran live tokenisation trades with @BlackRock, @Vanguard_Group and @jpmorgan. Adoption is infrastructure now.
Bitcoin's oldest holders have finished a two-year selling cycle, old wallet activity down 50% this year. Less overhang, improving macro. If US$63,500 holds, US$66,800 is the next test. @btcmarkets

29 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: Bitcoin dropped to low of US$72,582, its lowest level since mid-April. The move lower was triggered by a fresh escalation in US-Iran tensions, with military strikes near the Strait of Hormuz driving a spike in oil prices and a broad pullback in risk assets.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded their worst outflow stretch of 2026, with US$2.26 billion exiting over eight consecutive trading days. @BlackRock's IBIT saw its second-largest single-day outflow on record at US$527.8M. @ethereum followed, falling below US$2,000 for the first time since late March, with ETH ETFs logging nearly US$500M in outflows across 11-12 consecutive days.
Amid the macro headwinds, institutional adoption of blockchain infrastructure continued to advance. The DTCC announced plans to integrate its tokenised securities platform with Stellar by H1 2027, validating blockchain's role in traditional finance. VanEck also launched the first US spot BNB ETF on Nasdaq, further expanding the regulated crypto ETP landscape.
Key level to watch: BTC's ability to hold the US$72,000-73,000 zone will be critical in the near term. @BTCMarkets

28 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: A challenging 24 hours for crypto markets as macro headwinds weighed on sentiment. Bitcoin dipped toward US$74,260 amid renewed US-Iran tensions and uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz, which handles roughly 20-25% of global oil shipments. Risk assets broadly felt the pressure, though BTC showed relative resilience compared to traditional markets.
@ethereum continued to face selling pressure, trading around US$2,016 as spot ETFs extended their outflow streak to 11 consecutive days. That said, Bitmine's US$238M purchase of 111,942 ETH is a notable countersignal, institutional conviction at scale doesn't disappear quietly.
The standout mover was HYPE, reaching a new all-time high above US$64, up 25% on the week. Spot ETF inflows absorbed over 1% of market cap in just 10 trading days, a debut outpacing BTC, ETH, and @solana ETF launches on a relative basis.
On the regulatory front, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act cleared Senate Banking Committee, a meaningful step toward a federal framework for digital assets.
Key level to watch: BTC US$75,800, the Head and Shoulders neckline. How price responds here will shape near-term direction. @BTCMarkets

27 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: Bitcoin is holding in the US$75,000-$77,000 range as geopolitical risk continues to dominate the macro picture. US strikes on Iranian military targets near the Strait of Hormuz triggered a sharp move from US$78,000 to below US$76,000, with approximately US$300 million in futures liquidations recorded. With 20% of global oil supply transiting that corridor, energy prices and inflation expectations remain a live headwind for risk assets.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded US$1.26 billion in outflows last week, the third-largest weekly redemption of 2026, with @BlackRock's IBIT accounting for US$1.01 billion of that figure. @ethereum ETFs shed a further US$216 million. That said, appetite remains active in alternative crypto products: XRP funds attracted US$116.74 million in May, while HYPE-linked ETFs saw 8 consecutive days of inflows totalling US$54 million.
On the corporate treasury front, @MicroStrategy retired US$1.5 billion in convertible debt at an 8% discount without selling a single bitcoin, maintaining its 843,738 BTC position. A clear signal of conviction in the capital structure.
Key level to watch: BTC US$75,500 as near-term support. A reclaim of US$80,000 with volume would shift momentum back to bulls. @BTCMarkets

26 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: Bitcoin is navigating a complex macro backdrop this week, with US 30-year Treasury yields touching 5.197%, the highest since 2007, resetting the opportunity cost calculus for non-yielding assets. Despite that headwind, BTC rebounded 3% toward US$77,000 as US-Iran peace deal optimism lifted risk sentiment broadly, with oil dropping 5-6% and Asian equities rallying.
@ethereum is trading near US$2,100-2,150, facing continued pressure from ETF outflows and Layer-2 fee dynamics, though it retains a dominant 55% share of the US$190 billion stablecoin market, a structural anchor worth noting.
The standout mover this week is HYPE, which surged to a new all-time high above US$64, briefly entering the top 10 by market cap. Its buyback mechanism, directing 99% of trading fees into HYPE purchases, is generating genuine momentum, with US$72M in fresh ETF inflows.
On the institutional front, the SEC has conditionally approved Nasdaq's Bitcoin index options (QBTC), a meaningful step toward accessible crypto risk management for smaller institutions and retail.
Key level to watch: BTC US$78,500. A close above that level with volume would shift near-term momentum. @BTCMarkets

25 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: Digital asset markets recorded notable activity over the past 24 hours, with Bitcoin trading above US$77,500 following the announcement of a US-Iran peace framework and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The development reduced geopolitical risk and contributed to broader risk-asset sentiment improving across global markets.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded US$1.26 billion in outflows over the past five trading days, their third most negative week on record. Despite this, Bitcoin demonstrated relative price stability in the US$75,000-77,000 range, with corporate treasury buying and whale accumulation observed as contributing factors.
Bond markets are currently pricing in a 25-basis point Fed rate hike by end of 2026, with 2-year Treasury yields reaching 4.14%. Rising long-term yields historically increase the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets, and this dynamic is being closely watched in the context of Bitcoin's recent price recovery.
SpaceX disclosed 18,712 BTC on its balance sheet in an S-1 IPO filing, marking the first formal acknowledgment of the company's holdings and adding to the growing list of corporations with digital asset treasury positions.
@ethereum continued to hold above the US$2,000 level. The Ethereum Foundation outlined a narrowed strategic focus on censorship resistance, privacy, open source, and security.
On the regulatory front, the US Senate Banking Committee advanced the CLARITY Act, which proposes commodity classification for several digital assets including XRP, ADA, HBAR, and XLM under CFTC jurisdiction. @BTCMarkets

22 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: Markets are showing resilience despite a complex macro backdrop. Bitcoin is holding firm near the US$77,000 - US$78,000 range as long-term holders accumulate aggressively, with LTH supply now at 16.3 million BTC.
On the institutional front, SpaceX's S-1 IPO filing confirmed holdings of 18,712 BTC worth approximately US$1.45 billion, cementing its position as the seventh-largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally. That's a meaningful signal for mainstream adoption.
HYPE was the standout performer of the week, surging 120% year-to-date after Bitwise and 21Shares launched US spot ETFs that pulled in US$54 million within their first week, outpacing BTC and ETH ETFs on a market-cap-adjusted basis.
The @federalreserve's proposed 'payment account' framework for crypto firms is also worth watching closely, direct Fed system access could be a structural tailwind for stablecoins and regulated digital assets.

21 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: Markets faced a challenging week as US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded nearly US$2 billion in outflows over seven trading days, with US$648.6M withdrawn on 18 May alone. Rising Treasury yields, the 30-year hit 5.198%, its highest since 2007, and sticky inflation data at 3.8% YoY are compressing risk appetite across high-beta assets. Bitcoin traded down to around US$76,500 before stabilising.
Despite the macro headwinds, longer-term structural developments remain constructive. @tether consolidated its position in Twenty-One Capital, the second-largest public Bitcoin holder at 43,514 BTC. The CLARITY Act continues to advance with a 75% passage probability following a bipartisan Senate Banking Committee vote, a meaningful step toward the regulatory clarity that institutional capital needs. South Carolina also enacted pro-Bitcoin legislation, banning CBDCs and protecting self-custody rights.
@ethereum continues to face structural pressure, trading near US$2,100 with ETF outflows of US$255M. Watch for whether ETH can reclaim key support levels in the sessions ahead.
Key level to watch: BTC US$78,000 as near-term support. A return above US$82,000 would signal renewed momentum. @BTCMarkets

19 May 2026 Daily crypto wrap: Bitcoin pulled back overnight, trading as low as US$76K after President Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, pushing Brent crude above US$112 per barrel. The move triggered over US$661 million in liquidations across crypto markets, with long positions bearing the brunt at 89% of losses.
The macro backdrop is doing the heavy lifting here. The 10-year Treasury yield hit 4.63%, a 16-month high, and markets are now pricing a meaningful probability of a @federalreserve rate hike by year-end, a dramatic shift from just a week ago. That environment naturally weighs on risk assets.
Despite the noise, long-term conviction signals remain intact. @MicroStrategy acquired another 24,869 BTC for US$2 billion, bringing total holdings to 843,738 BTC, surpassing @BlackRock as the largest public Bitcoin holder. Separately, the White House confirmed legal and custody frameworks are now in place for the US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, with first open-market purchases potentially beginning Q4 2026.
Closer to home, the @RBAInfo and DFCRC released the final Project Acacia report, confirming Australia's wholesale tokenisation trials delivered measurable improvements in settlement efficiency and capital markets infrastructure. Research estimates digital finance innovation could deliver AU$24 billion in annual economic gains for Australia. For Australian investors, this is a meaningful signal that institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure is being built at the regulatory level.
Key level to watch: US$76,500 is near-term support. A daily close back above US$80,000 would be the first signal that bulls are regaining control. @BTCMarkets

18 May 2026 Daily crypto wrap: Bitcoin is holding above US$78,000 despite a challenging week for institutional flows. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded nearly US$1 billion in weekly outflows, the largest since January, as rising Treasury yields and elevated inflation data prompted some profit-taking. @BlackRock's IBIT and Ark's ARKB led the outflows, though it's worth noting this followed six consecutive weeks of accumulation.
The more constructive signal is coming from long-term holders. Wallets added 316,000 BTC over 30 days, pushing long-term holder supply to 15.26 million BTC, the highest since August 2025. That kind of accumulation during a dip reflects genuine conviction, not speculation.
XRP stood out this week, with ETF inflows of US$60.5M, its strongest week of 2026, as the CLARITY Act cleared the Senate Banking Committee 15-9, bringing a federal regulatory framework for digital assets closer to reality. Regulatory clarity has historically been a positive catalyst.
Key level to watch: BTC needs to hold US$78,000 on a daily close. A sustained reclaim above US$80,000 would shift near-term momentum back to the bulls. @BTCMarkets

15 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: A landmark week for US digital asset regulation. The Senate Banking Committee passed the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act 15-9 with bipartisan support, marking the closest the United States has come to comprehensive crypto legislation. The bill establishes clearer boundaries between @SECGov and CFTC oversight and provides a framework for exchanges, stablecoins, and digital commodity classification. Markets responded immediately. Bitcoin moved above US$82,000 following the vote and XRP rose above US$1.50.
On the institutional side, Ondo Global Markets crossed US$1 billion in total value locked across tokenised US stocks and ETFs, with @BlackRock and @Fidelity tokenised treasury funds receiving AAA-mf ratings from Moody's a meaningful signal for regulated institutional adoption of on-chain financial products.
Macro conditions remain a factor, with US CPI at 3.8% and PPI at 6% year-on-year. Bitcoin's 200-day moving average near US$82,000 remains the key technical level the market is watching closely.
Regulatory clarity, when it arrives, tends to matter. @BTCMarkets

14 May 2026 Daily crypto wrap: US CPI came in at 3.8%, driven largely by energy costs tied to the Iran conflict, which has pushed Brent crude above US$106. Bitcoin attempted to hold support above US$80,000 through the initial data release. The S&P 500 fell 0.2% and the Nasdaq shed 0.9%.
@ethereum continues to attract institutional attention, with @jpmorgan filing for JLTXX, a tokenised money market fund built on Ethereum, following a similar move from @BlackRock days earlier. ETH's 54% dominance in the tokenised real-world asset market is increasingly hard to ignore.
Crypto funds recorded US$858M in weekly inflows, and the largest unwind of Bitcoin short positions in 2026, US$14M, suggests institutional positioning is shifting.
On the regulatory front, Senate confirmation of Kevin Warsh as Fed Chair marks a meaningful shift in tone at the top of US monetary policy.
Key level to watch: BTC's ability to hold US$80K through the PPI-driven volatility will be the defining price structure question heading into the weekend. @BTCMarkets

13 May 2026 Daily crypto wrap: Markets navigated a complex macro backdrop today, with Bitcoin holding above US$80,000 despite hotter-than-expected US inflation data. April CPI came in at 3.8% year-on-year, above the 3.7% consensus, briefly pressuring risk assets before BTC recovered to around US$80,800.
On the institutional front, @MicroStrategy added 535 BTC to its treasury, bringing total holdings to 818,869 BTC. XRP spot ETFs recorded their largest single-day inflow since January at US$25.8M, with cumulative flows now reaching US$1.35B. @circle raised US$222M for its ARC token at a US$3B valuation, backed by @a16z, @BlackRock, and Apollo, a strong signal of continued stablecoin infrastructure investment.
@solana continued its run, trading around US$97 on the back of Solana's Alpenglow upgrade entering validator testing, targeting near 100-fold improvement in transaction finality.
Legislative clarity is also approaching, with the CLARITY Act facing a key Senate markup vote on May 14.
Key level to watch: BTC US$82,000 resistance, a clean break could shift near-term momentum. @BTCMarkets

12 May 2026 - Daily crypto wrap: Institutional momentum continued to define the week's narrative. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded their sixth consecutive week of inflows, attracting US$622.75 million for the week ending May 8, bringing the six-week total to US$3.4 billion. @BlackRock's IBIT alone drew US$596 million. Total crypto ETP assets under management have reached US$160 billion, the highest level since February.
@MicroStrategy resumed Bitcoin accumulation, purchasing 535 BTC at an average of US$80,340, bringing total holdings to 818,869 BTC. @jpmorgan analysts project the firm's purchases could reach US$30 billion across 2026.
Beyond Bitcoin, @SuiNetwork surged approximately 50% over seven days on institutional staking activity and strong network fundamentals. CME Group confirmed SUI futures launch for May 29. @circle reported Q1 USDC on-chain volume up 263% year-on-year to US$21.5 trillion.
On the regulatory front, the Senate Banking Committee is scheduled to vote on the CLARITY Act on May 14, a landmark moment for US crypto market structure.

Bitcoin has recovered from early April lows, trading around US$82,000 after a 37% move off the bottom. ETF flows remain a key story, weekly net inflows reached US$622.75M, a significant step up from the prior week's US$154M. Long-term holder supply continues to tighten, with approximately 78% of Bitcoin supply unmoved, one of the highest readings on record.
@solana has been a standout mover, breaking above US$90 and recording its strongest ETF inflow day since January at US$21M. Open interest in Bitcoin derivatives has surpassed 2025 ATH levels, reflecting increased participation across the market.
On the institutional front, @BlackRock has filed for two new tokenised money market funds, and CME Group plans to launch Bitcoin Volatility Futures on 1 June, pending CFTC approval, a meaningful step in the maturation of regulated crypto derivatives.
US$80,000-82,000 remains a key zone for Bitcoin to hold as attention turns to the May 14 Senate stablecoin markup. @BTCMarkets
