My objection to the religious left is that it only takes the Christian ethical teachings seriously when they don't run into any conflict with contemporary secular progressive ethics, as with abortion. If you only believe the parts of Christianity that make you popular, then you don't really believe in Christianity, whose founder was quite unpopular in his time.
I could not care less if republicans or democrats are in power but watching people like James Talarico and Pete Hegseth misconstrue, twist, bend, and warp the Christian faith to curry political favor (and to be met with cheers while doing it!) genuinely, deeply hurts my soul
