Something almost no one has brought up in this discussion of pre 2014 India was the tacit understanding by Al Jazeera and other foreign outlets that Indians weren't entitled to dignity and that it was ok to film people answering nature's call on account of them not having access to sanitation facilities.
Can you imagine a news outlet filming a homeless man in SF or NYC doing the same? People would correctly point out that doing so is insensitive to that person's dignity/humanity. The tacit understanding here was that Indians werent fully human.

Congratulations to our boys on a superb four-wicket victory over India in the opening clash of the Hong Kong Sixes 2026! It was a good game of cricket
I also commend Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi @MohsinnaqviC42 and his team for their dedicated efforts in preparing and supporting our players.
According to World Bank's latest report, India's extreme poverty has fallen from 27.6% to just under 2.6%.
And for Indians living under Rs. 400 a day (lower middle income), it has come down from 57.7% of the population to 16.1%.
Remarkable achievement by India given the rupee depreciated and the inflationary pressure of a fast growing economy.
Great point actually. Baseball is a cartoon game that can be replicated anywhere without changing anything

King Viv Richards played without helmets against a much harder cricket ball till 1991 but MLB made helmets mandatory in 1970s itself for a much softer baseball.
It's ok, baseball is for softies. No harm in accepting that.

Baseball fans, atleast the ones on this app, are low IQ and stoop to racism quickly. They dont really have any real arguments. So Cricket fans go easy and feel free to use this image to get your point across.
Brazil had its moment in the sun. In its growth heyday in the 70s it really appeared that it was destined for an East Asian type miracle. And then it stagnated. Growth is not automatic. Prosperity is not a guarantee.

We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.
The Sharjeel Imams will sla ughter you on the streets while the Asim Alis will write 800 word treatises on why you deserved it
They have become increasingly unhinged because BJP has simultaneously broken their electoral veto, their street veto and their terror networks. Elections have consequences.

"these leaders believe that the greatest injustice to Indian Muslims is the simple fact that there is a majority of Hindus in this country"

As usual, it took a Bombay grandee to see thru and ID the real angst of the islamists...
I write on Sharjeel Imam as a committed democrat who deserves a place in a radical democratic project of the future, one focused on the liberty and equality of all.

In 1992, inflation was 14%, in 80s it was sometimes in the 20s. This country has too many uninformed, good-for-nothing whiners and parasites

Rahul Gandhi never posted about Smit Macchar. Nor did the overall left ecosystem celebrate Smit Macchar. But that same ecosystem spends so much time defending Sharjeel Imam. I cannot be on the same side with all of that. My priorities are very clear. Smit is a hero, and Sharjeel is a villain.

Sharjeel Imam's interview and writings have reinforced the unsaid reality about our constitution and India -
India is a secular nation not because the Constitution says so but because Hindus are inherently secular.
