BigPali still believes in a central government in Lebanon🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love Lebanon because of its people both Muslim and Christian regardless of sect. But if there’s one thing I hope it’s that this war fucks them up mentally so bad that they force themselves to unite and build a strong central government and leave these civil war era factions to die.
I sincerely hope that once they find peace a major anti corruption campaign comes along and throws anyone and everyone involved in corruption in jail.

At least 47 Orthodox Christians were killed in a late-night attack in Shirka Woreda, in Ethiopia’s Oromia Region, Borkena news reports. Armed groups surrounded farming families in their homes around 10:00 PM, blocked the exits, opened fire and set the houses on fire. Local sources told Borkena the attackers included local armed groups and others from the neighboring Bale Zone. Residents asked police to step in, but the outlet reports that officers did not act, saying they had no official orders. Families are now burying their dead among the ashes of their homes. Let us pray for an end to the persecution of Christians in Ethiopia.

Jordan has just bombed Southern Syria Islamic extremist hideouts who were involved in the terrorist attack last week on the Greek Church.

Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents.
On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty.
These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence.
Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away.
The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.

Jordan has proven to be the best place in the modern Arab world for native non-Muslim minorities living in their ancestral homelands under Muslim rule.* That is very much to the credit of the country, its leadership, and the way they govern.
Let’s be honest, though: this is not the product of any uniquely tolerant features of Jordanian society that set the country apart from the rest of the region. The considerable degree of acceptance and coexistence there is a consequence of the nature of Hashemite rule, and it is conditional on its persistence.
Otherwise, a significant share of Jordan’s population has Islamist leanings, and the Muslim Brotherhood has traditionally been one of the country’s largest organized opposition movements. If Hashemite rule were ever to end, or the monarchy were reduced to a largely ceremonial role, it is the Islamists waiting in the wings, people like Dr. Eyad, who would be best positioned to take power.
They would not necessarily persecute Christians, to be sure, and nothing in his statement suggests that they would. Yet, they would call them by the classical Islamic term Nasara, which many Christians find demeaning (much as Black Americans would not appreciate being called the N-word). And they would treat them not as equal citizens, but as belonging to a subordinate category of protected subjects. Dr. Eyad calls them musta’minin (مستأمنين), though the term more familiar to Western audiences is dhimmis.
Jordanian Christians do not say this openly, but this is precisely why they do not put all their eggs in the Jordanian basket. Many send their children abroad for education and work, while those with the means often seek and secure foreign citizenship. (@DalrympleWill wrote about a similar practice among Syrian Christians in the 1990s in From the Holy Mountain.)
(*Lebanon is, in fact, the best place in the Arab world for native non-Muslims, but it has a unique history and political model. It was established with a Christian majority and a political order that granted each community internal autonomy and a share in the sovereignty of the state. No single community, therefore, lives under the mercy or rule of another.)
