In a society that's more anxious and stressed than ever, we need to cultivate those critical social-emotional skills that help us regulate and relax. We have to prepare our brains for big challenges (resilience) & have tools in our toolbox to rejuvenate and recover (wellness).

If culture is behavior, we need to remind ourselves that doesn't just mean the student behavior, but more importantly the adult behavior practices. If we want to change the definition of school spirit, we have to be relentless with the behaviors staff are demonstrating each day.

Equity work & developing a school culture rooted in social & racial justice does not result from a quick fix or "checking the box." For real results, we must commit to disciplined effort over time & deep integration of this into our lifestyle, not just the occasional lesson plan.

We MUST teach Respect — to see people for their stories & understand how their narratives shape their reality. To treat people like they're important. To move past the Golden Rule (treat others as you'd like to be treated) & to Platinum (treat others as they’d like to be treated)
