Really grateful to Andrew Garfield that every time I read a quote from Sam Altman I can now imagine Garfield pulling that horrible simpering insincere face he does in Artificial.
NEW: Sam Altman says it’s “quite terrible” for everyday people to own RAM, arguing it belongs in data centers.

Okay let’s not get back on suggesting gender nonconformity is inherently predatory, believe it or not most horrible men come across as stereotypically normal blokes.

What really connects the three men listed here is that in all cases a lot of people around them, including male collaborators with reputations for being really nice, knew what they were up to and continued to hire and associate with them!

People are obsessed with the idea that anyone with a degenerative illness who is in public & working must be being exploited. Both misunderstands what lacking capacity means and assumes that anyone visibly disabled would be too ashamed to venture outside of it was up to them.

I remember that supposedly investigative piece about Bruce Willis that seemed to largely amount to crew who didn’t know him personally saying looking at him made them sad and they, complete strangers, didn’t think he’d want to be seen like that.

Anyway, while it sounds like Patrick Stewart’s dementia progressed quickly, you can also have dementia and still have capacity to accept a job offer, and with the right support there’s no reason someone can’t keep doing the thing they love as long as they want to & are able.

So many people I know have expressed confusion that this is being treated like new information as they had no idea it hadn’t already been formally reported on. Common knowledge for years and years.

I seem to remember drivers with ADHD are significantly more likely to cause an accident than someone who’s drunk at the wheel so this seems a pretty reasonable measure!
🚨 NEW: People with ADHD can now get a third off train tickets under Government changes to the disabled railcard to include people with neurodivergence

Thing with chronic pain is sometimes you're having a really rough sesh and think, pretty crazy it can hurt this badly and I can't go to hospital, or freak out about it, or treat it as an emergency that requires other people to pause for me, because it's just my life!

It has correctly identified it needs to be BBC 2/Channel 4 comedy, not BBC1. That's where we've been starved lately.
snl uk is legitimately phenomenal

Obv most people interested in media understand the UK has the publicly funded BBC & BBC1 is our biggest TV network. I wonder how many know the gov deliberately created BBC2 as a niche & experimental TV network, then ALSO funded Channel 4 so it had a competitor.

Zac Goldsmith levels of backfiring, bigoted hubris at play on this one
The Ramaswamy ad has pushed the largest newspaper in Ohio, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, to reverse its position on endorsements. "A candidate who uses childhood sexual abuse as a weapon against the person who endured it has crossed a line that Ohioans should defend, whatever their party.  We are better than this. We have a responsibility to show it. Today we endorse Democrat Amy Acton for governor." cleveland.com/open/2026/10/w…

One of the best things about letterboxd is it's very easy to choose your own level of engagement with it. Despite what people complain, nothing is really shoved in your face, lots of different ways to use it, curating your feed is straightforward etc.
Replying to @staticbluebat
people who are too young to remember a world before letterboxd really don't understand. it's been the most significant positive force for cinephilia of the century. for all its faults, it has completely changed film culture for the better

Whatever disappointments you might have in life, consider that someone in Wales won £12,000,000 on the lottery in June and possibly doesn’t even know. Maybe never will!

The completed film would have to be absolutely wildly misjudged to not make a fortune.
The budget for the ‘ELDEN RING’ movie is nearly $200M. A24's most expensive movie ever. (Source: wsj.com/arts-culture/film/a2…)

imo Josh O’Connor will end up being cast as the next Bond villain. Happens pretty often with someone ostensibly going for the lead.

It’s always going to be Tony Gilroy Winter Soldier for me but maybe not while it’s beholden to MCU house style and constant franchise tie-in moments
I’m interested what are y’all’s dream marvel or DC project? What Character and Creator would you have?
