Yandy Diaz's check swing was 22.9 MPH. It was not a swing, objectively, and would have been ruled so by ACS...

"The way Hosey did it and the example he sets for our team was instrumental in us getting as far as we did, and I just wanted to let him know how much I and we appreciate him and all that he means to the team and the organization." #Guardians Chris Antonetti on his conversation with José Ramírez after Cleveland's loss in the ALCS #GuardsBall @WEWS

Stephen Vogt: "I'm coming back." Carl Willis, too. Vogt discusses the challenges of living apart from his family (who reside an hour outside of Seattle, where the Mariners are seeking a new manager), but explains why "I'll be in Cleveland": nytimes.com/athletic/7714991

Stephen Vogt to remain with Guardians despite speculation about hometown Mariners

Vogt’s family lives in Olympia, Wash., but he said Thursday he is not leaving Cleveland. Pitching coach Carl Willis is also set to return.

unclear exactly what this entails at the moment, but i'm very heartened that a major american film distributor is *finally* willing to put its name on a movie that directly confronts the genocide in Gaza.

The owner of the New York Yankees, the most valuable franchise in MLB, is is full support of a salary cap This should raise far more questions regarding the owner's driving purpose for implementing a cap (It has never been about competitive balance)

Hal Steinbrenner is asked if he'd be in favor of a salary cap in MLB: "I helped craft the proposals that we have given at the bargaining table, and I support those proposals in their entirety. That should answer your question."

Kalshi (and Polymarket) are deeply insidious and evil and do not give a shit about anything other than getting additional marks addicted to gambling on their platforms

"Opening day starter" "Most starts and innings"
Chris Rose@ChrisRoseOct 20
While a lack of hitting might eventually do in the Guardians (credit to the Rays), one of the great mysteries is what happened to Tanner Bibee. I know, Bibee wasn't great, but he led CLE in starts/innings. How Matt Festa is more trustworthy than your opening-day starter needs an explanation.

Gonna keep it real with you man, there's a greater chance the Rockies win 100 games than this happening

Tanner Bibee Cy Young season incoming in 2027 after being spurned by the team in the playoffs. Not sure how he would have fared in the series, but the bullpen showed it was massively overworked in the playoffs tonight. Love to see Tanner take it personally and show out next year. #StandGuard

I'm not exaggerating, Jeffrey Lurie needs to hire an independent investigator to review the entire decision making process that led to Jalen Hurts not only playing that game in London, but then getting onto a transatlantic flight back. He could have died, heads need to roll.

Very fun application of my new stuff+ breakdown: Tyler Rogers The model learned that sinkers are much better to same-handed hitters, but Rogers's absurd release and downward break make it much better to LHH than RHH. On the flip-side, the extreme rise on his slider makes it MUCH better to RHH than LHH!
