Bibi can barely even win an election in Israel and somehow he's got Trump to go Nuke Iran? Is there ANYTHING the Israelis CAN'T do?
Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer.
Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war.
To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha.
The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people.
And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final.
We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it.
Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made.
They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making.
One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.

This was filmed at Animal Shelter in Springfield, Illinois on a Tuesday afternoon. The man is Glen, 50 years old. A high school shop teacher from the north side of Springfield. He came to Animal Shelter on his lunch break because his daughter had been asking him for months to at least go and look. He told himself he was just browsing. Just getting it out of the way so he could honestly tell her he had tried. Glen spent about twenty minutes in one of the meet rooms with a three-year-old brown mixed breed named Hector. Hector had been at Animal Shelter for seven months. He had been returned to the shelter twice. The notes in his file said he was too attached. Followed people too closely. Didn't do well with being lett alone. Glen sat on the floor with Hector. Let the dog climb into his lap. Scratched his ears. It was pleasant. Normal. The kind of interaction Glen figured would happen. Then Glen stood up to leave. Hector went straight up with him. Not barking. Not jumping in the usual sense. He climbed. Both front legs wrapped around Glen's midsection. Face pressed hard into Glen's chest. Completely quiet. Just holding on. Glen stumbled back a half step. Looked down. Hector looked up at him. The shelter hallway went completely quiet. The staff member near the door told us she stopped moving. Glen tried to lower Hector gently. Hector pressed in harder. Glen stood there for a long moment. Then something in him changed. His shoulders dropped. He sat back down on the floor with Hector still attached to him, both of them landing together. Glen held the dog for a long time without saying anything. Eventually he looked up at the staff member and said: "What do I need to fill out?" He adopted Hector that afternoon. Glen's daughter called the shelter two days later, laughing and crying at the same time. She said her dad, who had said for years he wasn't a dog person, was now sleeping on the couch with Hector on his chest because he didn't want to wake him up by moving. The shelter coordinator told us: "Hector gets called too attached in every return note. But Glen didn't see a problem. He saw a dog who needed someone to stay. And he stayed.

Immediately after Ukriane blew up Russian data centers yesterday and today, Tucker Qatarlson’s views dropped 71%…
I told you. When I was in Ukraine, I was shown evidence of how Russia bots amplify Tucker and his anti-Trump and anti-Jewish podcasts.
Thank you, Ukraine for decreasing the botted viewership of Podcastistan.
America thanks you.
The American people should be thanking @ZelenskyyUa for blowing up the Russian data centers that housed so many of Russia’s bots.
Russia spends $2 billion per year on information warfare and much of that warfare is directly targeted toward the West, President Trump and the US.
I for one am thankful to see less Russian bots online sharing Tucker Qatarlson’s content and accusing everyone of being a pedophile and an Israeli spy.
This means less Russian interference in our elections online since Russian state media spends all of their time online attacking Trump and sharing tweets from anti-Trump podcasters.

So @mehdirhasan accuses me of lying, but not only fails to point out anything I got wrong, he makes even more false claims in the process. Let's go through his response and see how well it holds up:
Mehdi says:
"How do you know how many were killed by Israeli airforce pilots when, as I show in the video you didn’t watch, the pilots themselves say they had no idea who they were killing?"
The same way we attain estimates and verified cases of deaths from all sorts of incomplete information contexts in chaotic cases, Mehdi. Survivor accounts, forensic work on the bodies, unit records, and media investigations conducted afterwards. Pilots not knowing how many they have killed does not preclude the attainment of such knowledge in the aftermath. Surely you know this.
Mehdi further puts his foot in his mouth when he says:
"How come there’s been no independent investigation?"
Mehdi. There has been. In fact, I cited it in my own listed sources of the prior post.
In June 2024 the UN published the findings of their investigation of their Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, which included their investigation's findings on Hannibal related deaths on Oct 7th.
More reasonable minds might argue the scope and limits of such an investigation as the UN alleges instances of refusal of cooperation by Israeli officials, but that's not the argument you just made. You made a much stronger and far less defensible claim: That there has been no independent investigation at all. This is just straightforwardly false, there has been an independent investigation. The investigation concluded 14 such deaths (with language varying from "up to 14" to "at least 14" depending on the summary vs body of the work). This is why I listed the Be'eri deaths as contested. The UN investigation and Israel disagree on the attribution of such deaths, so I included them as contested to estimate the upper bound. I didn't just take Israel's word for it - such deaths found by the UN were included in my analysis.
And of note, none of the differing parties are arriving at numbers of different orders of magnitudes or something, they may not all arrive at the exact same figures (The UN attributes more deaths to Israel than Israel does), but they are arriving at similar enough figures such that we can reasonably conclude whatever the true value is among the point estimates, it's not the sort of point estimates one finds among disagreeing parties where the true value is massively higher such that the conclusion (total such deaths are a very small fraction) would be expected to change. So again, it's not "completely unanswered", we actually have a reasonable grasp on the answer at this point.
So for those keeping track, we now we have two false claims from Mehdi on the matter:
(1) That the question is completely unanswered: false, it is largely answered (and even if you doubt the completeness of the answer it wouldn't make the question "completely unanswered" as was claimed).
(2) There has been no independent investigation: simply false, there has been an independent investigation.
Will Mehdi acknowledge any error on any of such false claims, as he accuses me of lying in the same breath? Hopefully he will.
"Why lie so much?
Mehdi, take a step back and a deep breath. You accuse me of "lying so much", but not only have you not pointed out a single lie, so far it appears you are the one to have been wrong (again) even in the very same post where you accuse me of such.
Why not just re-calibrate your claims and acknowledge you might have gotten it wrong here. It's not that hard. And if you refuse to do so, I'm happy to debate you on this over voice or video. What do you say?
