Social engineers pretending to be Google Support keep calling me, so I took the opportunity to create this educational video showcasing their tactics.
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected.
Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions.
Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent.
But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models?
We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem.

If only any of the steps past the first shred was remotely how any of that worked 🤣
A lawnmower blade won't ever chop plastic into a fine powder, a cotton candy machine will not extrude plastic, extruded plastic doesn't twine the way wool does, etc etc...

"I worked HARD for the fans, every day."
I now have permission to share something I hoped would be revealed with much more fanfare.
I spent more than 3 years as one of the writers of #MassEffect4
It was one of the greatest privileges & GLORIOUS challenges of my life. I smiled every day. I worked HARD for the fans, every day.
So when I say I am devastated by the end of #MassEffect I REALLY mean it. I don’t know how to express how gutted I truly am.

I just had AI write an entire RISC-V core, put it on an FPGA, compile C code into a custom ELF format, boot the core, and run the program.
I read ZERO of the code. Someone come up with a good name for the core.

As I cross over the 200k of C++ in my game, I observe the following trend for how much I use AI to write the code for me between C++, shaders and Blender add-ons:
C++ - 99% hand-written, 1% AI
shaders - 50% - 50%
Blender add-ons - 1% hand-written, 99% AI
