The EU is going to tariff Canada because we don't have a CBAM program. Is this all just a ploy, an excuse for Carney to bring in a CBAM, a carbon border adjustment mechanism, essentially a new carbon tax into Canada?

A teaser bit from my second novel, "Montrose County." "Now” Del continued “At some point, it’s a hill you’re gonna have to climb, and it’s gonna be hard even when you’ve done it, so when that day happens, you just drive on over and the wife ‘n’ I’ll cook up some dead cow parts and we’ll have a meal of it. Plus, we always keep a few bottles of good Presbyterian whiskey in the cupboard. One for us, and one for the neighbors who figure they’re far enough from Salt Lake a little sip don’t hurt once in a while.” Del cackled a little at that, and Sabrina smiled. amazon.com/dp/1520927835

Stelco CEO Lourenco Goncalves made quite a few important statements today regarding the plant going idle. I’ve listed the important ones he said below: • “I’m not shutting down, I’m not dismantling.” • “There’s no market in Canada for the amount of galvanized steel we produce in Canada. We need to EXPORT to the United States.” • “Until we reestablish that there’s nothing we can do, nothing.” • Even a complete ban on galvanized steel imports into Canada would still leave Canadian production above domestic demand. “There’s only one solution. We need to be able to export.” He also stated that no amount of Government money could have altered this decision. Carney and his Government need to get back to the negotiating table.

What is seriously wrong with Carney? Why didn’t he stand and applaud a Canadian Army Veteran with the rest of the people around him? This is truly disrespectful.
WOW: Mark Carney attended the Oilers home opener tonight and appeared to remain seated as the crowd stood to applaud a Canadian Army veteran. Tall about disrespectful.

If the “Rock of Starvation” surfaced in the Danube River in 1616, 1718, 1811, 1830, 1842, 1868, and 1947, then this is part of a natural recurring cycle that has nothing to do with CO₂ emissions. The rock surfacing also no longer indicates that mass starvation will occur because produce can be imported from elsewhere very easily today.
In Budapest, a rock has resurfaced in the Danube. It's called the Rock of Starvation - Ínség-szikla. For centuries, its return has meant one thing: the river is so low the mills fall silent, crops fail, and hunger follows. It surfaced in 1616. In 1718. In 1811, 1830, 1842, 1868. In 1947. And now it's back, in 2026. For the first time in 44 years, Hungary has shut down all but one of its Danube-cooled nuclear reactors. A nearby farmer puts it plainly: "I've lost nearly 50% of my harvest, and it could hit 70%. Since I started farming after the end of communist rule, I've never seen a catastrophe like this." The rock is a warning. It's been delivering it for 400 years. We know exactly what it says, but we haven't been listening.

A woman asked an elderly man, "How much do you sell these eggs for?" The old man replied, "50 cents per egg, lady." The woman said, "I’ll take 6 eggs for $2.50, or I won’t buy any." The old seller answered, "You can pay whatever you want. It’s fine. I haven’t sold a single egg today, and I need to sell everything to feed my family." She bought the eggs at her price, feeling like she had won. Later, she got into her nice car and went to a fancy restaurant with her boyfriend. They ordered what they wanted, ate a little, and left most of it. The bill came to €180, and the woman left €200, telling the owner it was a tip. For the chef of a luxury restaurant, this might seem normal, but for the egg seller, it seems unfair. The question is: Why do we always feel the need to show power over a poor seller when we buy from them, yet we are so generous to those who don’t need our help? I once read something that stayed with me: “My father would buy goods from the poor at high prices, even when he didn’t need them. He would sometimes pay more than the asking price. I asked him why, and he said, ‘This is charity wrapped in dignity, my daughter.’” I know most of you might not share this story, but if you’re one of the few who took the time to read it, please consider sharing it. Maybe you’re planting a good seed for someone to see.
