Is it possible that the @scotgov Justice Minister does not know that drugs policy IS devolved - how else could @scotgov have effectively decriminalised possession of class A drugs in 2021 or set up the ‘safe consumption room’ in Glasgow ??

👀One of the things that’s often overlooked in Scottish crime author William McIntyre’s @Best_Defence books is his fully shaped characters. It’s not just the relentless protagonist Robbie Munroe, either. In Illicit Still, for example, the accused is a romance author, Jilly Jean Lyon – wife of a deceased (we think) whisky baron. Along the way you’ll meet Robbie’s wife, daughter and secretary, and further in his adversaries. They all seem of this world, rather than cutout placeholders, and we can see why some of them get themselves into trouble… especially Robbie, as he tries to investigate Jilly Jean’s case, and keep his daughter safe.

This is book one of 15 (so far) and in it Robbie's defending a woman accused of murdering her policeman husband, trying to stop a mob hit taking place, and fighting a charge of using a counterfeit £50 note, all while his love life falls apart. Always worth a read to see if there's any "fictional characters" you recognise.
Can recommend these books.

Love a good legal thriller? 👩⚖️
Mark Thursday on your calendar for the release in print of Relatively Guilty by William McIntyre @Best_Defence
The novel introduces Scottish criminal defence lawyer, Robbie Munroe, who has a baffling case. The woman he's defending seems hell-bent on going to prison for killing her policeman husband. Why?
That, ladies and gentlemen, is the real question before the court. Find out Thursday when it comes out via @VinciBooks
