🇬🇧 Peter Jenkins argues that the latest guidance from Britain’s main therapy association @BACP gives greater prominence to trans issues while removing a substantial section on therapeutic issues affecting lesbian, gay and bisexual clients. A proposed ban on “conversion practices” adds worrying complexity.
A look at the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s guidance on gender, sexuality and relationships.

My final question to @LesDStrghtManSa was: If you could wave a magic wand and trans as a type of person disappeared, and all the people who are currently medicalised were suddenly healthy and whole again, would you?
And someone in the comments said: no better ending of a video than a fairy tale of genocide.🤦♀️
This medical experiment has been sold as "life-saving" for so long, with irresponsible trans-identified people saying they wouldn't be here today if they hadn't transitioned, that basic medical safeguarding is now equated with genocide.
There is no evidence that these treatments are life-saving, and selling false hope to desperate people is cruel and unethical.

🇵🇱 Gender identity ideology in Poland?
🎙️ On our latest episode of 𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱, we speak with Polish criminologist 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝘇𝘆𝗯 (@GrzybMagdalena), who specialises in violence against women and criminal policy.
We talked about Poland, feminism and how trans activists tried to silence Magdalena for daring to say that men should not be housed in women’s prisons. Magdalena recalls how stressful it was to be attacked in the media and harassed in her own university simply for making rational arguments about women’s safety.
⚖️ We also talked about legal sex self-ID and the impact of EU policy priorities and European court judgements on Poland. She explains how Poland's legal position on difficult or controversial issues is often arrived at via court decisions, rather than parliamentary and legislative processes.

Being kind' doesn't get you round the Education Act.
Political neutrality in schools isn't optional. It's been the law for 30 years.
Somebody tell the teacher trainers.
Right from the start DDU has stressed the need for far greater concern and enforcment of Sections 406 & 407 of the Education Act. There are still too many schools where leaders/staff think hitching 'being kind' to using partisan political content (from open borders to trans ideology) is ok - it really isn't. This is a good start, but teacher training needs radical overhaul. @ScotUnionEd @ProtectTeach thetimes.com/uk/education/ar…

Concretized diagnostic labels can get in the way of efforts to improve well-being.
If you read this essay carefully, you'll see that his so-called gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia are names he gives to feelings of shame. Shame about feeling like a weird outsider due to his autism and shame instilled by his religion over normal adolescent sexual urges (probably reinforced by cultural messaging around "toxic masculinity").
We need to lose these concretized diagnostic labels and talk about how feelings of shame and a sense of being damaged, or different in a bad way, can drive the wish to transition. That's actually the topic of my presentation at the upcoming @segm_ebm conference in Washington DC.

The ingredients for a safeguarding and medical scandal:
A group who are ideologically committed to a treatment model irrespective of the evidence
+
A climate of fear in which concerns are not just dismissed but attract accusations of transphobia
+
Institutions & individuals focused on protecting their own reputation rather than admitting to mistakes
Cases such as GIDS and now WellBN will continue to occur until these issues are addressed. And the problems in gender medicine extend far beyond paediatric services: adults deserve safe and effective care just as much as children.
🚨Hilary Cass has called for an independent inquiry into how Brighton GPs were allowed to prescribe cross-sex hormones to children as young as 12.“There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, and indeed young adults has failed,” she told me.
The employment tribunal between Dr Sarah Redvers and NHS Sussex has highlighted how regulators and the NHS collectively failed to stop prescribing of puberty blockers and hormones against national guidelines - for years - and how instead the person raising concerns was accused of transphobia and herself investigated.
Dr Redvers sat down with me for her only newspaper interview about her treatment in a scandal which, Cass now says, “dwarfs” that of the Tavistock’s GIDS.

It is worth reflecting further on the promised clarity 'about what the draft Bill does and doesn't do' because it reveals a fundamental problem with the conversion practices legislation as it applies to gender identity.
Bridget Phillipson's key argument is that 'being T+' does not need fixing. But in reality, 'being T+' involves many thousands of children with a host of mental health issues and other vulnerabilities, who reject their healthy body, experience escalating distress and seek unevidenced medical interventions.
That really does need fixing.
When T+ is defined simply as 'who someone is' or people just being 'their true selves', any appreciation that the identity itself could be a maladaptive response to a range of external factors is dismissed. Even worse, the unremarkable understanding that not all identities bring health or happiness is misrepresented as an abusive effort to 'change who someone is'. This is the kind of activist language that led to the chronic safeguarding failings at GIDS and at WellBN.
Under this framing, any denial of personal identity is seen as abhorrent: 'no one should be abused, shamed or threatened into denying who they are'. What is encouraged instead is affirmation of the 'true self' even if 'who they are' involves rejecting their own body.
So this is what the bill would achieve: special protection for an identity linked to unhappiness about the body, and criminalisation of alternative understandings because these could be 'intended to change who someone is'.
“A society which values freedom must protect everyone’s right to live openly and safely as themselves.”

Narcissistic Enticement?
Projection replacing empathy?
"The “Gender Affirming” approach is not scientific. It is self-indulgent. It is a scandal, a vehicle for disordered individuals to impose their dysfunction on others"

🇦🇺 Doctors can face disciplinary action over alleged misinformation about gender medicine. But which clinical guidelines does Ahpra use to judge their statements?
Bernard Lane reports that Ahpra’s chief executive told Senate Estimates the regulator relies on “existing clinical guidelines”, yet Ahpra refused his request to name them.
His investigation raises serious questions about transparency, impartiality and doctors’ freedom to discuss treatment risks.
Patients deserve a regulator that openly explains the evidence and standards behind its decisions.

As the CoT on X today, I was protected from my dad's 'trans'/sexual fetish behaviour, VAWG & failure to respect female bodily privacy by my mum, then the police & social services/CPP. It meant some very painful conversations. Now seems safeguarding CoTs is to be criminalised...

In the Tavistock study, children on puberty blockers went on to cross-sex hormones at a rate of 98%. Suggesting we know what will happen to the little kids on the Puberty Blockers Trial. Sterilisation, stunted growth, life-long medicalisation. #StopTheTrial @baronesscash
