WHEN DOES PREJUDICE BECOME A SAFEGUARDING CONCERN? The Government has accepted all 27 recommendations of Sir David Bell's antisemitism review. But what does this mean for schools, KCSIE and the boundaries of safeguarding? Our new analysis examines the implications for child protection, political impartiality and professional judgement. The proposed KCSIE changes are subject to consultation - they are not yet statutory guidance. Read our analysis 👇 protectandteach.org/when-pre…

Scotland's declining educational performance demands more than another round of reforms. Lindsay Paterson's latest book raises a fundamental question: has Curriculum for Excellence weakened the place of knowledge in our schools? Read here: bit.ly/sue175fh Can standards recover without restoring it?

Baroness Cass has called for a full independent inquiry into Brighton WellBN Clinic, saying the scandal “dwarfs” the Tavistock. She said “There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, and indeed young adults has failed. Clearly it goes beyond NHS Sussex to other regulatory bodies.” thetimes.com/article/cfde7b4…

Utterly glorious. Teaching is hard. @TTRadioOfficial
Here’s the incomparable Dave Allen discussing how to teach your child the time. It’s one of the most perfectly delivered stand up comedy performances of all time. Absolute genius.

NHS England accepted that Dr Sam Hall had "no formal training in gender-identity medicine" but argued that he'd "acquired expertise informally through self-study, experience" and "from talking with other gender specialists." This is what NHSE "accepts" for the treatment of vulnerable children. These children weren't being treated for colds. They were being given life-changing blockers and hormones for feelings that hadn't been explored. Cass is right. This goes much deeper than just one clinic. Full independent inquiry is needed now. Excellent reporting as always from @hannahsbee. thetimes.com/article/cfde7b4…

A mum's post about her son being taught he could be "born in the wrong body" has reached 30,000 people this weekend. Here in the UK we have the same problem both sides of the border. Teach children how to think, not indoctrinate them with Queer theory. Excellent work here from @ScotUnionEd.

Agree. Our contribution.
Schools should educate, not indoctrinate. They should encourage disciplined thought, not impose political orthodoxies. Read and share: bit.ly/sueIdeologyMatters Our new booklet, Why Transgender Ideology Matters, examines government overreach, parental authority and the politicisation of Scottish education. #BattleFest

Yesterday my son sat through a class where his teacher told him some people were born in the wrong body so they were the opposite sex or had no sex at all. I wasn’t informed this was part of the school curriculum (although I know it is). In the recent past parents were required to give permission for an adult, often outsourced non teaching staff, to speak to minor children about adult concepts like sexuality and gender identity. This is no longer the case. It is now up to us parents to know what our kids are being taught and by whom. Often kids are scared to tell because they know their parents, or any other reasonable adult, would be horrified and they are afraid of their parent making a scene. We need to reassure those kids that won’t happen so they don’t carry any confusion or anxiety they might be feeling about what they were being taught.

A child's mind isn't a vessel to fill with lgbtqia+ alphabet soup. "Born in the wrong body" is a belief, not biology. Parents please ask for the lesson plan. You have every right to see it. If you don't understand it send it our way. Better still, watch Barry's breakdown of RSHE, it is pretty disturbing.

A full grasp of RSHE. I've been breaking it down A. On my articles tab. Up to part 13. @ProtectTeach

Who decides what our children are taught and who scrutinises those decisions? Having worked in education and safeguarding for many years, I believe these are questions we should always be asking. External organisations do not become exempt from scrutiny simply because their materials promote 'inclusion'. Political impartiality, parental transparency and safeguarding are responsibilities, not optional extras. An important analysis from @ProtectTeach. 👇

Oh really. We will need to see the exact detail on this. @ProtectTeach @JenKteach @PaulSTEandM @OurDutyUK
The rise in antisemitism presents a challenge for all of us. Schools and colleges should be places where young people can discuss difficult issues, challenge prejudice and learn to debate respectfully. These conversations can be complex, but we want to encourage debate. That's why we're backing teachers and school leaders with training, guidance and practical resources, giving them the confidence to lead these discussions well. Schools will not face this challenge alone. In this generational moment we have a real opportunity to challenge antisemitism, build understanding and create more inclusive school communities.

Thank you, Baroness Deech, for pressing the Government on the age at which children can genuinely understand and consent to puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, and for raising concerns about bone health, fertility, sexual development and brain maturation. How can an 11- or 12-year-old assess long-term risks to bone health, fertility and development? Can a child sufficiently understand and evaluate the potential lifelong consequences of puberty suppression or masculinising and feminising hormones to give genuinely informed consent? The Government's reliance on parental consent, child assent and trial safeguards was beyond disappointing.... These do not answer the fundamental question.
Extraordinary testimony from Baroness Cass yesterday on the profile of children who will be part of the *Puberty Blockers Trial*. Little kids who have been 'socially transitioned' from early childhood. Harmed by their parents - reinforced by the State... @Transgendertrd 1/
