It was a great experience for our team to present & to hear about great research in the field. With appreciation for novel mechanisms, new diagnostics and new therapies, hypertension is having a moment, and we must all rise to meet it. The future is hopeful for #hypertension care

1. CRISPR came from basic research on bacteria. 2. Optogenetics started with a discovery in algae. 3. The GFP protein comes from jellyfish. The biggest breakthroughs all trace to scientists follow their curiosity. This is one huge reason why we must keep funding basic research!

I’m a doctor. This executive order is wrong. The President does not have the expertise to make these changes. Vaccines are overwhelmingly safe. Vaccines are effective. Vaccines DO NOT cause autism. Breaking up vaccines will mean children have to get more shots to get the same protection, not fewer shots. It will increase hesitancy and make children less safe. Parents should listen to their child’s pediatrician about vaccines rather than listening to an inaccurate executive order. This is so wrong. xitter.cf/axios/status/208688294…

Congratulations @Tobias_B_Huber and Team this is really great news for the kidney community and our patients 🙌🙌🚀🚀❤️
HCKH-Launch-News: We officially launched the Hamburg Center for Kidney Health (HCKH) together with the leadership of the University of Hamburg (@unihh) and University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (@UKEHamburg), and distinguished international leaders from the European Renal Association (ERA) (@ERAkidney, @torra_roser), International Society of Nephrology (ISN) (@ISNkidneycare, @kidneydoc101), International Society of Glomerular Disease (ISGD) (@ISGDtweets), African Association of Nephrology (AFRAN) (@Rasha_Darwish_), NephCure Kidney International (@nephcure), Greifswald University (@uni_greifswald, @EndlichNicole) and UTMB (@utmbhealth, @JochenReiser) alongside patients, clinicians, scientists, and the next generation of kidney researchers. HCKH is now among the world's leading academic platforms for kidney health, bringing together more than 250 kidney experts and internationally recognized programs spanning precision medicine, AI, systems biology, biobanking, integrated patient care, education, and translation. Our ambition: to redefine kidney medicine, from understanding disease mechanisms to delivering precision therapies, and to translate scientific discovery into longer, healthier lives for people living with kidney disease. A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding speakers, colleagues, patients, collaborators, partners in joint programs (@UniklinikAachen, @rkramann, @AarhusUni, @UKKoeln, @UK_Muenster, @Uniklinik_Fr, @SFB1453_NephGen, etc.), supporters, and the entire HCKH team for making this inaugural symposium such an inspiring milestone. This is only the beginning. #HCKH #KidneyHealth #TeamScience #GlobalHealth #Innovation

Watching Alexander Zverev compete at Roland-Garros, it is easy to see the athlete. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child, he is competing at the highest level of professional sport. His journey reflects decades of discoveries in insulin therapy, glucose monitoring, and diabetes care. A reminder that biomedical research does not just change numbers in a paper. It changes lives. For millions living with Type 1 diabetes, especially children, that matters. A quiet reminder that the disease may be part of your life, but it does not have to limit your dreams.

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is one of the most common complications of PKD. When hypertension is left untreated, it can further damage the kidneys and increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Learn more about managing this symptom of PKD: pkdcure.org/about-the-diseas…

Thanks to Jordy and Tammy for their leadership on this important statement! @jordy_bc @TammyBradyMD
Cuffless devices estimate blood pressure (BP) indirectly. Most rely on sensors such as photoplethysmography (PPG) or tonometry, often combined with pulse transit/arrival time and machine learning. Outputs often represent BP change relative to calibration, not direct measurement. Accuracy is particularly unclear in real-world use. Device performance is highly susceptible to motion, sensor positioning, body posture, and hydrostatic pressure effects. Yet most validation occurs immediately after calibration in static, controlled settings—leaving true real-world utility unproven. ✍🏼 @Jordy_bc @Tammybradymd @Rushellebyfield @Shakia_hardy @Spjuraschek @Deanp_bp @Roberththielemd @DrEugeneYang

This might be the most badass brief report I’ve read in a long time. In @NEJM A team just published what feels like a glimpse straight into the future of cellular therapeutics: successful survival and function of transplanted allogeneic, CRISPR-edited beta cells with zero immunosuppression — in a real human with long-standing type 1 diabetes. No anti-rejection meds. No immune flare. Glucose-responsive insulin secretion documented weeks after implantation. A clean safety profile. This is the kind of translational science that makes you think about how close we might be to rewriting what’s possible in autoimmune and metabolic disease. Medicine is moving fast. This is one of those papers that makes you feel it.
