George Orwell on British anti-Semitism: "above a certain intellectual level people are ashamed of being antisemitic and are careful to draw a distinction between ‘antisemitism’ and ‘disliking Jews’."
The revealing admission in @mehdirhasan’s post - which he completely misses, accidentally or not - is that rising anti-Israel hatred fuels rising attacks on Jewish school kids, because they are Jewish.

If you hate Zionism, believe Israel is the new Nazi Germany, or think Zionists secretly control the world, you need to understand where some of these ideas came from.
Let me take you back to Moscow, 1983.
On March 29, 1983, the Soviet Communist Party approved a KGB proposal to establish the Soviet Anti-Zionist Committee.
Just one year earlier, Mahmoud Abbas, today’s Palestinian Authority President, had defended his doctoral thesis in Moscow, promoting Holocaust distortion and conspiracy theories about Zionist collaboration with the Nazis.
Both emerged from the same Soviet environment of anti-Zionist propaganda.
The committee’s mission was simple: demonize Zionism, discredit Israel, and spread the Kremlin’s narrative worldwide.
But the KGB had a clever strategy.
They deliberately placed Jews at the head of the organization to deflect accusations of antisemitism.
Led by Soviet Jewish General David Dragunsky and supervised by the KGB and Communist Party’s Propaganda Department, the committee became a propaganda machine.
Here is how it worked:
1. Compare Zionists to Nazis. Pravda accused Israel of using Nazi methods and operating concentration camps.
2. Manufacture Jewish opposition to Israel. Soviet media promoted supposed letters from Jewish emigrants claiming they had been deceived by Zionist propaganda.
3. Stage international press conferences. Committee leaders accused Israel of adopting Nazi practices, while TASS and Novosti amplified their accusations worldwide.
4. Export propaganda worldwide. The Soviet Union used international media, publications, foreign language broadcasts, and propaganda networks to spread its anti-Zionist narratives across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond, turning a Kremlin campaign into a global messaging operation.
5. Give propaganda academic credibility. In 1985, the committee published a 300-page White Book portraying Zionism as a global conspiracy and Israel as an instrument of American imperialism.
Meanwhile, the same Soviet regime restricted Jewish emigration and persecuted Jews who wanted to leave for Israel.
Think about that.
More than 40 years ago, the KGB was systematically manufacturing the accusations we hear against Israel today.
Zionism equals Nazism. Israel is an apartheid regime. Zionists manipulate governments. Even Jews supposedly reject Zionism.
Today, these narratives circulate across university campuses, demonstrations, social media, and mainstream political debates.
Perhaps one of the greatest successes of Soviet propaganda is that millions of people today believe they arrived at these ideas entirely on their own.
Before repeating the next accusation about Zionism, ask yourself one question: Who taught the world to think this way?

On this day—October 25, 1929
The Shaw Commission arrived in Jerusalem to investigate Arab massacres of Jews across Mandate Palestine. This was two decades before Israel’s independence.
Arabs had killed 133 Jews brutally with axes, knives, and clubs in places like Jerusalem, Hebron, and Safed. Homes were looted, synagogues were destroyed, and survivors were raped and mutilated.
The massacres were ongoing. There were another 57 Arab attacks against Jews as the Commission sat. The Grand Mufti later invoked the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and compared himself to Jesus, claiming Jews had denounced him.
The Commission found the Arab attacks on Jews were driven by hostility to Jews in general and the notion of Jewish sovereignty anywhere in the Land.
This was the conclusion before there were any “settlements,” “occupation,” or even a State of Israel.
Perfect analysis - Palestinians are largely descendants of Arabian Peninsula migrants who came to the Levant
Israel Is The Ancestral Homeland of the Jews, Not Palestinians
Addressing common counter-arguments
1. "Palestinians are closer to ancient Israelites than modern Jews" - Incorrect. Ashkenazi Jews alone trace the majority (roughly 80%) of their Y-lineages to the Levant. They are basically indistinguishable from non-Jewish Levantines on the paternal line. About 40-50% of their maternal lineages (contrary to earlier papers which overestimated European input) are also Levantine.
Palestinian paternal lineages are predominantly Peninsular Arab with MRCA estimates dating back to the mid-1st millennium CE which corresponds neatly with waves of Arab invasion and settlement. This is why they cluster with Saudis on most sample-based PCAs. The mtDNA side is more diverse, but the majority of it is decidedly non-Levantine. A Levantine component does exist (particularly among the Christians), but there's no way of proving that any of it comes from actual Jews (Arameans are more likely) and, either way, was almost certainly acquired via forced conversions and sexual violence. You cannot October 7th your way into indigeneity.
2. "But this proximity list I have here says Palestinians are closer to ancient Canaanites" - Because proximity lists are based on population aggregates and genotypal similarity, not shared ancestry. For example, someone who is half-Cherokee and half-Nigerian will chart further away from “Cherokee” than will an Indigenous Siberian or Indigenous Amazonian individual with no Cherokee ancestry whatsoever.
To give a more pertinent example: someone who is 75% Arabian and 25% Levantine will chart much closer to “Bronze Age Levantine” than someone who is 75% Levantine and 25% European. Why? Because Arabians and Levantines are neighboring populations. They're genetically much closer to each other than Europeans are to either. Thus, even if a sample is 75% Levantine, that 25% European will strongly pull their plot away from the Levant.
On such lists, Ashkenazi groups (i.e. aggregates, not individual samples) will chart closer to Sicilians and Cretan Greeks than non-Jewish Levantines. Does this mean Ashkenazi Jews originate in Italy? No. All it means is they are a similar genetic average when their base components are mixed together — Ashkenazim are Levantines with a South European component on the maternal line, and Sicilians are a largely Roman and Greek-descended population with a significant MENA pull (Phoenician , plus Southern Europeans have retained much more European Neolithic ancestry than other Europeans). That Ashkenazi aggregates may have stronger affinity (that is, similarity) to Sicilians than, say, Lebanese Christians is meaningless in regards to the origin of Ashkenazim as Jews.
3. "But the grandparents and great-grandparents of modern Jews were born in Europe" - Because that's where their ancestors ended up after being driven out of the Middle East. Recent history in Europe does not cancel out or supplant ancestral origins in the Levant. By this logic, Europeans are "indigenous" to Tennessee and the indigenous tribes they displaced are indigenous to their place of exile.
On that note, a large portion of Palestinian families can't trace their history in the land back more than 100 years. They arrived with the British mandate. Saeb Erekat, for instance, loves to claim that he is a "Canaanite" despite descending from a Saudi Arab clan that arrived in the 20th century.
4. "Netanyahu's REAL last name is Mileikowsky" - Jews in Europe had European surnames forced on them in the 18th-19th centuries. Before that, they used traditional Hebrew patronyms.
Conversely, there is nothing "Israelite" about Palestinian surnames. Nearly all of them pinpoint origins outside of Eretz Yisra'el.
5. "Palestinians are culturally closer to the Israelites than modern Jews" - Jewish language, holidays, folklore, calendar, core cuisine, music, and history all center on the land of Israel.
Palestinians speak Arabic, practice Islam (notwithstanding the Christian minority), and are culturally almost indistinguishable from other Arab populations. Their flag uses pan-Arab colors, each one representing a different caliph.
And no, dabkeh is not a Canaanite dance.
6. "Jews stole Palestinian Arab cuisine" - Most if not all Levantine cuisine is thousands of years old, predating the Arab conquests. Jews were familiar with these dishes in antiquity and are now returning to them after centuries of exile (to say nothing of Jews who were never exiled and never stopped eating these foods).
7. "Modern Jews look like Europeans" - No. ashkenazijews.net/
TL,DR: Jews are indigenous to Israel and arguments to the contrary are invariably based on sophistry, misinformation, and misreading of data.

Silent footage from @AP in 1956 just after Israeli forces drove Egypt out. Captions says: "Refugee camps near GAZA, where the Egyptian kept the Palestinian refugees in primitive dwellings, not permitting them to go to Egypt or mingle with their countryfolk. Fed and clothed thanks to the International Organization for the refugees, the Egyptians used these people as political hostages. While Cairo affirmed that Gaza territory sheltered 300.000 Arab refugees, right after occupation they were numbered at 200.000. In front of their huts decorated with white flags, they warmly receive the Israeli soldiers, saying that the Egyptians were very haughty towards and did not treat them well."

Clearly, you didn’t read the report.
Regarding that survey: 827 students (mostly non-Jewish) said they'd witnessed antisemitism.
Nor do the report's recommendations rest on that survey. They rest on CST's 204 incidents targeting schools in 2025, two JPR studies, Teacher Tapp's survey of ~10,000 teachers, the NEU and NASUWT surveys, 587 call-for-evidence responses, and 84 written submissions. Take the student survey away and the evidence base doesn't change.
Reading is hard, I guess.

Islamophobes are accusing Abdul El-Sayed of being pro–Muslim Brotherhood JUST BECAUSE:
• His mother worked for an organization later designated by the U.S. Treasury for supporting terrorist groups.
• His sister-in-law appeared on a federal terrorism watchlist during the Obama administration.
• His father-in-law held leadership roles in organizations accused of Brotherhood connections.
• Those organizations were named unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation case.
• His half-sister celebrated October 7 online.
• The same half-sister wrote that their family had “long been MB” and described their mother’s Brotherhood activism.
• His campaign buddy Hasan Piker said America deserved 9/11.
• He wanted to avoid commenting on Khamenei’s death because some potential voters were grieving.
• He signed a statement urging Morsi’s government to purge Egypt’s media and police.
• He compared Oklahoma’s Sharia-ban measure to historical atrocities, including the Trail of Tears.
• He praised the work of Tariq Ramadan, grandson of the Muslim Brotherhood’s founder.
• He defended his friend Mohamed Soltan, whose father was a senior Brotherhood figure.
• His campaign received donations from CAIR-associated individuals, and his father-in-law contributed $300,000 to a supporting PAC.
• He argued that a Brotherhood-led Egypt would not necessarily resemble Iran.
You’re confusing what happened with what you’re allowed to notice
Why is this motherufcker still allowed to keep his job?
Imagine being a Jewish student at this university. Or a Jewish professor.
This man is a professor there. Wael Ramadan teaches at Sheridan College and the University of Guelph-Humber.
In a sketch he posted, Israelis are accused of taking — these are its words — "their skin for your skin bank." Palestinians' skin. Harvested. Banked. The same sketch describes Israeli people as "not really people."
In January 2024, a human rights complaint documented some fifty of his posts — that sketch, praise for the Houthis, thanks to the Al-Qassam Brigades, "Zionists worship Satan."
He has never been suspended. Never been disciplined. No sanction of any kind.
Why? Because his views are not a problem for the institutions around him. They reflect the university that protects him, the college that employs him, and his union, OPSEU, which adopted BDS as official policy. He isn't their embarrassment. He's their mirror.
A Jewish professor at Guelph-Humber told me: "I can't lose this job." She had supported me — and she was afraid of being discovered to be Jewish.
Afraid that at this university, in Canada, being known as a Jew is something you can be fired for.
Jewish students have said they were afraid to take his class. They said they were afraid to attend their own convocation, because of the massive Palestinian flags carried across its stage.
And the vice-provost whose architecture all of this is — Melanie Spence-Ariemma — has never faced a consequence of any kind.
Imagine being a Jewish student at this university. You don't have to imagine. They're living it.
