After two months, the John Gillick affair has finally reached the @IrishTimes.
This is a noteworthy moment. Since late August, when screenshots of antisemitic posts to Gillick’s personal X account began circulating, only one journalist at one newspaper (@Fearghaloc at the @Independent_ie) has covered the story. The screenshots highlighted posts describing Jews as “human scum” and “filthy dogs,” and declaring that they “need to be thrown out” of Ireland. The Wayback Machine revealed a substantial archive of such posts going back to the start of last year.
John Gillick is not a nobody. He worked at AIG for over 20 years. He headed consumer marketing and sponsorship, fronting the company’s partnerships with sporting bodies including Dublin GAA, the Golfing Union of Ireland, and Hockey Ireland. In March of this year, he was photographed with the Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) at a gala dinner in Washington, D.C. On 2 September, Gillick stated that his account had been compromised and that the antisemitic posts were not his. He reported the matter to the Gardaí, and that investigation continues.
However, on Friday, AIG’s president and chief executive, Eric Andersen, confirmed to Orli Degani, chair of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland, that Gillick is no longer working for the company.
Andersen does not run the Irish subsidiary, @AIGIreland. He has led AIG worldwide since June. It is significant, therefore, that a complaint from a handful of people in this country reached the CEO of a global insurer in New York. Degani thanked him specifically for the personal attention he gave it.
But note the disparity here. The CEO of a multi-billion-dollar multinational corporation judged this matter serious enough to deal with himself. Meanwhile, most of the Irish press ignored the issue for eight weeks. Consider, by contrast, how a story last week about a Palestinian necklace being edited out of an episode of Cheap Irish Homes was instantly in the headlines of every major newspaper, TV station, and radio broadcaster in the country.
That asymmetry reflects something that I have written about here before: a habit of looking the other way when Jews are being targeted. The elements of a story were always there: a senior figure in Irish sports sponsorship, a personal account calling for a minority group to be expelled from the country, a company inquiry, a Garda investigation into a claimed hack. Had the target of the posts been any other minority community in this country, it is hard to imagine having to wait two months for a second journalist to take an interest.
Ms Degani says the case mattered “far beyond the actions of one individual,” and she is right. The issue was never about what was posted on one account. It is about whether Irish Jews can trust that when things like this happen, they will be taken seriously by employers, by the Gardaí, by the media, and by the public. Her closing point is that reporting antisemitism matters. It does, but so does reporting on it.

It's easier to open a Jewish museum in Baghdad than it is in Canada. Just imagine the mobs of keffiyeh clad lunatics if you tried this in Montreal or Toronto.
Canada has a serious antisemitism problem and no level of government seems to care.
Here is an amazing story. A Jewish museum has opened in Baghdad. The museum commemorates the life of one of the largest, longest lasting and most important communities in all of Jewish diaspora. For 2,500 years Jews lived and sometimes thrived from Nebuchadnezzars expulsion to the Farhud and destruction in the 1950s. Good job.

Owen Jones has done a 16 tweet thread explaining how a 14 year old Jewish student being called a “Jew bitch” and physically assaulted while another is taunted with gas chamber noises is just criticism of Israel.
“It’s true for me, therefore it's true for everyone” is called the “anecdotal fallacy.” By that logic, my grandfather proved seatbelts are useless because he never wore one and died peacefully at 94. The guy in the car he hit was unavailable for comment.
Also: The UK has roughly 69 million people. That creates nearly 2.4 quadrillion unique potential pairings. Even if you're ultra-popular—which seems unlikely (sorry)—and you know 5,000 people, you only ever interact with 0.007 percent of the population.
It should bother parents that someone so ignorant of these common fallacies teaches their children. Your personal experiences are evidence of nothing.

Today, @AIGIreland confirmed to the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland that John Gillick is no longer employed at the company, where he previously served in a senior executive role as Head of Consumer Marketing and Sponsorship.
A quick recap on how we got here. At the end of August, @karenievers began posting egregiously antisemitic screenshots sourced from Gillick's personal @JohnnyGpops account on X. In response, Gillick claimed that his personal X account had been hacked and that "recent posts" were not his.
The same day, AIG told @Fearghaloc of the @Independent_ie that the antisemitic posts had not been authored, published, or endorsed by its executive. But AIG soon backtracked. The compromise quickly became a "purported compromise," and the company announced an internal investigation into "the posts and the surrounding circumstances."
Gillick blanket-deleted everything posted to his X account after October 2022 once the screenshots began spreading, But this did not prevent people from using the Wayback Machine to unearth an extensive archive of bilious antisemitic material going back to at least January 2025. This included posts calling Jews "evil," "vermin," "human scum," and "thieves," and advocating for their expulsion from Ireland.
After posting on September 2nd that his account had been "compromised by unauthorized person(s)" and that "recent posts containing antisemitic content were not written, published or endorsed by me," Gillick went silent. He did not respond to repeated requests for comment. AIG also went silent, declining to comment on the progress of its internal investigation or even say whether its head office was satisfied with how its management in Dublin was handling the situation.
To be clear. AIG's confirmation today that Mr Gillick is no longer employed with the company does not clarify whether he resigned or was dismissed as a consequence of the internal investigation. Nevertheless, it is good to see AIG engaging so positively with the Jewish community in Ireland and taking its concerns seriously. Now, having buried their heads in the sand for two months, will the media follow suit? Will the likes of @IrishTimes and @rtenews finally cover this story?
AIG confirms John Gillick no longer with company following the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland's complaint concerning extensive antisemitic material published through @JohnnyGpops.
The material included descriptions of Jews as “evil” and “human scum” and calls for Jews to be thrown out of Ireland.
This case became important to the Jewish community far beyond the actions of one individual.
People need to know that antisemitism of this kind is given due weight.
We are relieved and grateful that AIG treated our complaint seriously and acted following its own review.
We appreciate AIG’s engagement and its unequivocal condemnation of antisemitism.

Wow, you’re very ignorant.
Where to begin?
They are not “Jewish-only” schools. Most mainstream Jewish schools in the UK admit non-Jewish pupils when undersubscribed. King David in Birmingham has had a majority-Muslim intake.
"Does any other demographic do this?" Yes, you idiot. Nearly a third of state schools in England are faith schools, and 98% of those are Church of England or Catholic. 28% of English primary pupils attend one. Jewish schools number about 136 in a faith sector of more than 6,000.
"Why has the government facilitated this?" Because, you bigoted dullard, state-funded church schools have existed since 1902 and were formalized by the 1944 Education Act. Jewish schools were folded into the same framework decades later.
And your 70% is a total figure hiding two populations. Outside the Haredi (ultra-orthodox) community, only 43% of Jewish children attend Jewish schools. The figure is driven by Haredi birth rates, not a community-wide retreat from integration.
Try reading a newspaper now and then. Or better yet, try talking to Jews, if you can tolerate their presence.

Good try but nick picking in effect.
They do not come close to undermining the report as a whole.
The criticisms here raised are real on a few narrow points how one survey statistic was headlined, one imprecise citation of the JPR parent study, and an overstatement that the UN had adopted the IHRA definition They do not, however, invalidate the report’s core findings or recommendations for these reasons:
The report rests on a broad evidence base far beyond the small Jewish subsample in the UCAS survey 92 out of >5,000, which the report itself flags for caution.
This includes CST’s recorded school related antisemitic incidents (still roughly double pre-2023 levels in 2025), multiple independent teacher surveys ;Teacher Tapp of ~10,000 teachers, NASUWT data showing high rates of workplace antisemitism among Jewish teachers, UCL data on Holocaust education classrooms, a call for evidence, school visits, and other parent data. The problem of under recognition and under reporting is documented across these sources, not dependent on the three in five figure.
Most of the 27 recommendations are practical and operational: clearer training for staff, better systems for recording and responding to incidents, treating antisemitism as a distinct safeguarding concern, stronger guidance on political impartiality, and support for schools dealing with complex cases. These address documented gaps , lack of confidence in recognising antisemitism, inconsistent recording, low reporting rates that appear across the wider evidence, not just one contested statistic. The government accepted them all.
The terms of reference point is fair as a matter of framing the review was not commissioned as a prevalence study but gathering and presenting evidence of the scale of the problem is standard and relevant for a practical review focused on prevention and response. The JPR miscitation and the UN/IHRA overstatement are specific inaccuracies that should be corrected, but they are secondary supporting claims rather than the foundation of the recommendations.!!!!
In short, the verified problems are limited to presentation, one secondary citation, and the international status of IHRA. They do not erase the multi source evidence of antisemitism in English schools and colleges or the operational case for improved training, recording, and response.

“Buried on page 30"? It's the opening of a section titled "Trends in antisemitism." It's in the table of contents.
And that section says there are three ways to measure antisemitism: British attitudes, Jewish experiences, and recorded incidents. You screenshotted the first and skipped the other two.
The "stable" finding is about adult opinion polling—e.g., 3% of British adults say they'd be less open to having Jewish friends. That number hasn't moved. Fine. Attitudes are stable. Behaviour is not.
CST logged 1,662 antisemitic incidents in 2022. Then 4,298 in 2023, 3,556 in 2024, 3,700 in 2025. The monthly average before 7 October 2023 was 154. In 2025 it was 308. Double. Incidents involving schools and schoolchildren: 98 in 2022, 204 last year. Also double.
As for "it's only anti-Israel sentiment": 53% of those incidents referenced Israel or the war. That's the point. Nobody is logging op-eds about Netanyahu as hate crimes. They're logging Jewish kids being told to "free Palestine," blamed for Gaza, or given a Hitler salute in the corridor. When a 13-year-old is targeted for being Jewish, the fact that the abuser was thinking about Israel doesn't make it moral clarity. It makes it the mechanism.
The same page you clipped also notes that 25% of British adults—49% of 18-to-24s—say they're uncomfortable even spending time with people who openly support Israel. Most British Jews are attached to Israel in some form. Read that sentence again and tell me which direction the hatred is moving.
Meanwhile, in the lived-experience data you skipped: 59% of Jewish students surveyed reported antisemitism, 20% of all students witnessed it, half of Jewish teachers experienced it at work in the past year, and roughly half of incidents are never reported.
So no, the report doesn't say antisemitism isn't a problem. It says adults who'd disown a Jewish friend remain a small minority—while the people actually targeting Jews have doubled their output and found a new vocabulary.
Learn to read, idiots.
Look at this idiot.

If you need to see how far the left has fallen into a sewer of antisemitism, just look how they react towards a report written on the antisemitism Jewish schoolchildren experience in British schools.
An appalling disgrace that no other community would be expected to tolerate.
This post is a textbook case of the disinformation circulating about the UK antisemitism report—and of how amateur pundits spread it.
She claims only 29 of 5,000 students reported experiencing antisemitism.
Wrong denominator. It's 29 of the 70 Jewish students who answered that question—41% saying they were personally targeted, plus 18 more who witnessed it. Dividing Jewish kids' experiences by a mostly non-Jewish total is like measuring racist abuse of Black pupils against the entire school roll.
And across all respondents, 827 said they'd witnessed antisemitism.
Nor do the report's recommendations rest on that survey. They rest on CST's 204 incidents targeting schools in 2025, two JPR studies, Teacher Tapp's survey of ~10,000 teachers, the NEU and NASUWT surveys, 587 call-for-evidence responses, and 84 written submissions. Take the student survey away and the evidence base doesn't change.
This is what happens when bad-faith amateurs cosplay as policy analysts.
Replying to @markofbrooklyn
If I thought that this report was done in good faith I'd be very concerned but it hasn't. 29 out of 5000 kids in this self-selected sample said they'd experienced antisemitism. That doesn't warrant the measures now being taken - particularly the adoption of the IHRA definition

I think everyone saw today that there are a lot of British and Irish leftists who feel that abusing, bullying, and violently assaulting Jewish school children is not only justified, but laudable.
These are the same people who call everyone else "Nazis." Sick.
If your government adopts a policy to protect Jewish children from harassment, and your first instinct is to cast it as a sinister Zionist plot, you haven't exposed a conspiracy — you've exposed yourself as part of the UK's antisemitism problem.
