Tumours exhibit dynamically changing microenvironments which cells sense and respond to. This has become the core of @Danielle_Vahala's research; investigating the extracellular matrix and its role in tumour dissemination using highly tuneable biomaterials and spheroid culture.
Even more excitingly, collaboration between Assistant Professor @nano_jenn and @IanLChin has enabled a much closer look into peptide-cell interactions through use of gold nano-particle technology.

CRISPR-Cas-based technologies have greatly expanded our knowledge of diseases, their genetic components, and the development of targeted therapies. Notably, these technologies allow researchers to permanently edit the genetic code, or temporarily switch genes on/off.

Whilst @Seb_Amos uses hydrogels to recreate the tumour microenvironment to study the mechanics that drive cancer metastasis.
BioZone PhD candidates @Seb_Amos, @Danielle_Vahala, Sam and Eric had a fantastic time participating in the @UWAPSA Research Week Sundowner! They spoke about the BioZone program and all things research and innovation with students, staff and industry professionals.

Too many kids waiting too long for ear health services. Working to fix this with great teams at @WCVID @telethonkids @WAHealth @uwanews – at Perth, Western Australia
Aboriginal kids have a high rate of chronic ear infections - yet they may have to wait up to 2.5 years to see a specialist. The Telethon Kids Ear Portal program aims to reduce wait times by involving community-based Aboriginal health workers in assessments bit.ly/2QGWpXk
