I was delighted to present my #BioImageAnalysis work at #ACMM27 earlier this month. Extremely humbled to receive the John Farrant Prize for the best student talk in Biological/Medical Sciences.
Very excited to release this project soon! #Microscopy #ImageJ @YuSukChoi @UWAresearch
Last week, I had a fantastic time discussing all things mechanobiology at #ISMB2022 in Sydney. Such a great experience to listen to and share our work with leaders in the field!

Welcome to our new @ANZSCDB state rep for Western Australia! Dr @YuSukChoi aims to develop biomimetic hydrogels to study mechanical interaction between cells and their microenvironment. Image credit @Seb_Amos
My research focuses on the mechanical challenges that cancer cells must navigate to spread successfully, a process known as metastasis. I study changes to cancer cell adhesion and the mechanical conditioning that might enhance and protect them on their deadly journey.
Hydrogels are used to mimic the mechanical and chemical properties of tissues which allow for cells to be studied in more representative and translatable environments.

@UWAresearch
To study the initial steps of the metastatic cascade, I use hydrogels to mimic normal and cancerous microenvironments in 3D. This allows me to investigate how tumour growth, escape and local invasion are mechanically linked.

We're back! Meet the BioZone cohort!
Here at BioZone, we seek innovative solutions that address the increasing complexity of local and global challenges as well as 'wicked problems'. These problems require transformative change in the way we learn, think and interact.
