Pretty much. As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers. SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue. That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

Good morning, The government intends to continue treating hard working aspirational British people who actually pay ~£100,000 per annum in taxes like criminals. The incentive mechanism they have set will be in addition to the existing cliff edge at £100,000 earnings, meaning most of the country doesn't aspire to earn more than £99,999 - certainly if they aspire to building a family. That one limits ambition and disincentivises having children. The new one is the next level up. £200,000 per annum, first on HMRC's letter list, is the next soft cliff edge - and means you will get harassed by a government official who you don't know, never get to reference, and who holds your personal details and assets on file. In France, a tax official was charged with passing digital asset investors' personal details to organised crime, in a country that has had a string of kidnappings of digital asset holders. Sincerely, there was recently a case of a kidnapping in the UK involving boiling water and bollocks - it's fair to worry about the safety of your future family members when information is leaked. The government in the UK has relentlessly pushed away young talent by ripping away the incentives. I've seen it first hand over the last 6-8 years in our industry, people in their late 20's and early 30's feeling like they have no choice but to head overseas 'if I stay and perform, I'll get crucified by tax and costs of living. If I have a bad year, I can't afford the house. But if I move to Dubai and perform, I keep it all - and if I have bad year - at least I'm not bankrupt'. And the state also incentivises asset holders and productive people to leave the country - I know people who left the country the day before the last budget and they tend not to come back quickly. BUT the really, really insidious part of this is inflation. Take the £100,000 cliff edge that was set in 2010 and has never moved. With inflation since then, it is actually the equivalent of about £155,000 today. Every year it stays frozen, more ordinary families get caught, and the trajectory is that one day £200,000 will be the equivalent of £50,000. It's certainly not 'wealthy' and it will be worth less and less over time. Little bit like the £150 annual allowance per head for staff entertainment (seriously) 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️ As Ronald Reagan said, the scariest words in the English language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help you'. If you choose to stay in Britain, you're going to have to choose to fight to fix it. Have a great day. 🫡

HMRC can take it from your bank account. The bank can freeze it because a payment “looked like a scam”. The Bank of England can print more of it. None of them can do any of that to Bitcoin.

This is at the same time they are telling us war is about to break out (for some inscrutable reason). But also at the same time telling us that we are a "Britain with belief again. People with hope again." None of this makes any sense.

If I met a Russian in a pub I’d probably get on with them. They probably don't want this war any more than I do. Wars get fought because the people who decide aren’t the people who pay. Printing money is how you skip asking. Take the printer away, and a lot of this could end.

I don't often agree with the FT, particularly on Bitcoin (My teeth still aren't worth millions) but @tejparikh90 raises some important points here. IMO Britain cannot tax and regulate its way to prosperity. We need to start talking about growing the economic pie, rather than endlessly dividing it. The Laffer Curve illustrates something politicians often overlook. Higher tax rates do not automatically mean higher tax receipts. At some point, the behavioural response outweighs the increase in rates. People invest less, defer gains, restructure or leave. Capital is mobile. Increasingly so. Entrepreneurs, investors and businesses have choices about where they live, operate and deploy capital. Britain isn't just competing on tax rates. It's competing on simplicity, certainty and opportunity. We should be attracting capital, not discouraging it. As an accountant, I see how unnecessarily complicated our tax system has become. More rules. More reporting. More compliance. More costs. Every pound and hour spent navigating unnecessary bureaucracy is a resource that cannot be invested in productive activity. And taxation is only part of the problem. Planning restrictions, infrastructure delays, expensive energy and regulatory complexity all affect investment and productivity. Cutting taxes alone won't solve these problems. Structural reform matters. We also need to distinguish between raising tax receipts today and building a sustainable tax base for tomorrow. A tax increase might raise revenue immediately while discouraging future investment. That trade-off matters enormously for CGT, entrepreneurship and business formation. Britain needs a serious conversation about what government should do, what it should cost and how we create the conditions for prosperity and growth. Simpler taxes. Predictable rules. Less unnecessary bureaucracy. More productive investment. Growth must be part of the strategy, not an afterthought.
THREAD (1/7) Britain’s Budget on Wednesday is expected to be low-key. After recent chaos, that is no bad thing. But escaping the country’s economic drift will require something far bolder: a dose of shock therapy. My latest column for @FT: as.ft.com/r/aa18babc-96c7-4f…

When your business model depends on disguising price manipulation as a cleaning fee, you're not a hospitality entrepreneur. You're a landlord running a bait and switch with fresh towels.

Recruitment is one of the only industries in the world where you're paid on how good you are and you progress on how good you are. There are no limits on age, no limits on qualifications and no limits on what you can earn. I chose to come into the industry young and committed to give absolutely everything for 12 months before deciding if it was for me. The end of that first 12 months is the story I share here. It gave me an early belief that you pick up the phone to anyone if you've got a reason that benefits them, and good things happen for both sides. Still the same today. Want to do business with Elon Musk? Go find a senior exec at NASA and let Elon know you might have a good person for SpaceX. Or find Sam Altman's top guy who wants to leave and let Elon know you've got a good candidate for Grok. You can open any door in this industry with the right excuse. B HODL UPDATE @bitcoinhodlco | AQSE: $HODL | OTCQB: $BHODF | FRA: $F5S Our first public node now has nearly $750,000 USD of capacity (9.26 BTC) across 79 channels. It has moved up to 70th globally by channel count (from 85th last week) and 88th globally by capacity (from 89th). It also ranks 9th in the world for growth on 1ML. Capacity has grown by a considerable dollar value in a week. A larger, better-connected node means more businesses, developers and AI agents can route payments through our reliable, well-managed Lightning infrastructure, and the network as a whole gets stronger. And we earn more routing fees. Connect to BHODL Public 01 here: lightning.bhodl.com/ Corporate: Audited Accounts and Annual Report The company is focused on preparing its audited accounts and annual report, and this has taken up much of the management team's time this week. We will update shareholders in due course and look forward to sharing our results with you. Business Development: Two Significant Meetings We held two significant business development meetings this week. The first grew out of our discussions in Oslo and Nashville. The second was a face-to-face meeting in London with a key contact in the sector. We can't disclose further details at this time, but we hope interesting new partnerships will emerge from these discussions. Watch this space. Policy: UK–US Cross-Border Policy Working Group On Thursday, I attended the launch webinar of the UK–US Cross-Border Policy Working Group, a joint initiative from CryptoUK and The Digital Chamber. The working group brings together industry leaders, policymakers and regulatory experts to strengthen collaboration between two of the world's leading digital asset markets. The panel discussion covered how transatlantic dialogue and cooperation can support innovation, market development and cross-border growth as both countries shape their regulatory approaches. As a UK-listed company with growing US relationships, B HODL will keep engaging closely with policy on both sides of the Atlantic. Thank you to all shareholders for your continued support.
