Friday Support #Recovery #Addiction - The power of change
This coming March will be 10 years for me completely FREE from any alcohol / drugs and theres not a single day that i don't practise gratitude for my recovery because its THE most special thing i have ever done.
I chat daily to ppl about addiction / recovery and i am so passionate to break the stigma that comes with the word 'addict'
Addiction doesn't discriminate - the very best most loving person can develop an addiction which can totally change their behaviour!
That was me! In this picture my life was consumed with drinking and using drugs , i was losing all the things i loved and as much as i tried to stop ....I couldn't.
What was once 'social' became utter torture and incredibly anti social .. Paranoid misery, smashing trust and losing all the things i loved. Yet i still couldn't stop! I absolutely hated myself!
I was in and out of recovery services but my addiction convinced me that if i stopped drinking/using then i would have no social life, no mates, no personality, would be stuck in the house bored and couldn't go anywhere!
Thing is that was what my life was like in addiction ...
So made a final decision to change - to put my recovery 1st and to work hard at my recovery
Its still to this day THE best decision i have ever made
Please if your struggling, the fun has stopped yet you cant stop ... Then reach out to a support network because its very hard on your own
Life truly starts when you stop!

RURAL IRELAND DESERVES BETTER. Over the weekend, I returned to Boyle, a town I called home for many years, to host a conference. Afterwards, I walked around and was saddened to see so many closed shops, boarded-up windows and empty premises.
Boyle is a beautiful town, but its high street is being hollowed out. Where is the Government’s plan to save our small businesses before it’s too late?
The draconian COVID measures devastated many small businesses. Six years later, those that survived are still struggling. Yet where is the meaningful support?
I understand there are plans for an Aldi in Boyle. It may create some jobs, but what about the independent businesses already fighting to survive? Across the country, small traders are struggling to compete hi with big chains and online giants like Amazon.
Think local. Shop local. Support local. Because if we don’t, these businesses simply won’t survive.
Do we really want our beautiful Irish towns to become rows of empty units, bookies, vape shops and mobile phone repair shops, losing the character that makes them special?
I spoke to a woman visiting from Australia who couldn’t find a steak for dinner in Boyle. Plenty of choice for Indian and Chinese cuisine- but nowhere serving traditional Irish fare. What does that say about the state of our town and the experience we offer visitors?
Our towns deserve better. Our small businesses deserve better. The Government must act before it’s too late.

Successive British governments and prime ministers placed all our country’s bets on a side which had no cards. This has cost us our economy and our liberty and won us eternal enmity across the world. The media encouraged it every step of the way. Who will be held accountable for this disaster?

It looks as if President Trump and President Putin might have averted an imminent worldwide diesel crisis with its resultant catastrophic effects on our economy and living standards.
Russia are to release 300 000 tonnes of diesel immediately onto world markets with another 500 000 tonnes for November.
All this from the country we have been firing our Storm-shadow missiles at from Ukraine for the last 3 years and our leaders tell us are about to invade us at any moment.
Wake up people
BREAKING: Donald Trump has thanked Vladimir Putin for providing "the American and global marketplace" with '300,000 tons of diesel'.
