TESTOSTERONE 101 - optimizing it for men:
90% of men are low nowadays, here's the foundations to not be one of them.
DIET FOR TESTOSTERONE:
◈ Avoid excessive seed oil intake - animal studies suggest high-PUFA diets can impair testicular function
◈ Eat enough dietary fat - very low-fat diets may reduce testosterone
◈ Include saturated fat sources like eggs, dairy, coconut oil or meat as tolerated
◈ Eat sufficient carbohydrates - they support training, energy availability and may help limit cortisol elevation
◈ Maintain insulin sensitivity - insulin resistance drives with lower testosterone
◈ Avoid chronic calorie restriction - low energy availability can suppress reproductive hormones
◈ Get adequate protein, but avoid letting it crowd out total calories, carbs and fats
◈ Optimize body composition - higher body fat levels increase aromatization from testosterone to estrogen.
KEY NUTRIENTS:
◈ Vitamin A - supports testicular cell differentiation and sperm production
◈ Vitamin D - supports normal reproductive function; correcting deficiency is important
◈ Zinc - essential for testosterone production and male fertility, especially when deficient
◈ Magnesium - supports energy metabolism and numerous enzymatic processes
◈ Vitamin K2 - has preliminary evidence for effects on steroidogenesis, mainly from non-human research
◈ Vitamin E - antioxidant protection that may help protect reproductive tissues from oxidative stress
Adequate intake matters most, but some studies do show that gigadosing can increase T further for some nutrients.
LIFESTYLE FACTORS:
◈ Sleep - maintain a consistent schedule and get sufficient sleep
◈ Circadian rhythm - keep sleep and wake times regular (night shift tanks T)
◈ Weight training - resistance training supports body composition and metabolic health
◈ Energy availability - avoid prolonged under-eating, especially with high training volume
◈ Stress management - chronic stress signaling can suppress reproductive function
◈ Goal achievement - competition, winning and achieving goals can boost it
◈ Red & near-infrared light - early research suggests possible reproductive benefits, but evidence remains limited
METABOLIC & HORMONAL FACTORS:
◈ Insulin resistance - associated with lower testosterone, particularly alongside obesity and metabolic disease
◈ Thyroid dysfunction - hypothyroidism can impair reproductive hormones and sperm quality
◈ High prolactin - can suppress testosterone and libido
◈ Gut health - chronic illness and inflammation may contribute to reproductive dysfunction
◈ Endocrine disruptors - reduce unnecessary exposure to certain chemicals in plastics and personal-care products where practical
TESTING TIP:
If you have symptoms of low testosterone, measure morning total testosterone on two separate days + free testosterone, SHBG, LH, FSH, prolactin and thyroid function depending on the results and symptoms.
"Normal" is not normal by lab ranges (they say >250 is normal, it's not), >600 ng/dL is a better target, with SHBG <50 nmol/L.
THE BIG PICTURE:
Healthy testosterone depends on more than one supplement or food. Energy availability, sleep, metabolic health, nutrient sufficiency and normal testicular and pituitary function all matter.
The goal is to create the conditions for healthy hormone production - not to chase higher numbers at the expense of overall health.

119 years old, cooks with tallow & doesn’t fear the sun 😋
Toss the seed oils & get outside tomorrow
i met the oldest person in the world today.
here’s what he told me about how to live
a long, healthy life (tldr at the end):
josé flores was born on July 11, 1907, he is 119 years old.
“what's the secret to living 119 years?”, i asked him…
“trabajo!” (work)
up until a few years ago, José was still on his farm, planting crops and chopping brush with a machete.
in Japan, they call this Ikigai (生き甲斐), a word meaning “a reason for being.” It is well known to be associated with longevity across many cultures. (pmid 19539820)
his lifestyle defies most mainstream longevity ideas...
-he doesn't fear the sun. He works in it daily.
-he eats meat every single day: beef, fish, or chicken, & organs like heart and liver. nothing from the animal is wasted.
(large population studies corroborate the strong, consistent association between animal food consumption and longevity. (pmid 35228814))
-he eats local foods & doesn’t fear natural sugars. Fruit, vegetables, milk, and honey.
-he cooks with animal fats and adds these to staples like rice and beans. lard, tallow, and butter.
he doesn’t fear saturated fat, nor do most in this nicoya region of costa rica.
-he doesn't drink coffee (!) , but he loves young coconut water & agua dulce- a juice made from sugar cane.
-he plays dominoes every day with his family and visitors to keep his mind sharp.
the formula for maxing out your genetic longevity potential doesn’t have to be complex or cost thousands of dollars:
i. eat unprocessed food.
single ingredient foods (meat, plants, with no ingredient labels) for >95% of meals.
ii. find a purpose, and work toward it daily.
iii. get outside. don't fear the sun.
moderate exposure is associated with longevity in many studies (PMID 26992108)
iv. stay close to your people.
the people you care about are critical to the formula. Protect that community.
a large study from Harvard found that meaningful community was the strongest predictor of longevity. (PMID 31495897)
v. don't take life too seriously. Laugh as much as possible.
everyone I have met in my exploration of longevity (ikaria, sardinia, nicoya, switzerland…) who was aging well had an easy sense of humor and smiled + laughed often.
tldr:
longevity doesn’t have to be as complicated as it’s made out to be.
high food quality with animal foods
moderate sunlight
movement
purpose
community
eat food for humans, live like a human, & thrive.
we all have a genetic longevity potential, this is how you maximize it.
lol too real 😂

Soybean oil in our fat cells & then we rub it on our skin in the lotion too 🙃
Go check your body lotion label
Your fat used to be mostly animal. Now it’s mostly soybean.
In 1960, about 13% of American adults were obese. Today it’s ~40%. Severe obesity went from under 1% to nearly 10%.
That’s the quantity. The composition changed even more quietly.
A 2015 review of U.S. adipose tissue samples found linoleic acid (the main fat in seed oils) rose from ~9% of stored fat in 1959 to ~21.5% by 2008 — a 136% increase. It tracked dietary linoleic acid intake almost perfectly as soybean oil flooded the food supply.
Your grandparents’ fat cells were built from butter, lard, and tallow. Yours are built from the industrial oils that replaced them.
Those oils are more prone to oxidation, more integrated into cell membranes, and part of the same dietary environment that also delivered the refined carbs and ultra-processed calories that expanded the total fat mass.
More fat. Different fat. Same timeframe as the obesity epidemic.
They forgot to mention to rub beef tallow all over your body 😀
The new Dietary Guidelines say cook with butter or beef tallow, eat full fat dairy, and prioritize protein at every meal, red meat included.
Then they keep the 10% cap on saturated fat. Two sentences later: "More high-quality research is needed to determine which types of dietary fats best support long-term health."
So the cap on saturated fat stays while they admit the science isn't settled.
They also wrote that people with certain chronic diseases "may experience improved health outcomes when following a lower carbohydrate diet." I guess that's a start?
Meat is a health food. Carbs are optional & not ideal. The guidelines are finally drifting towards truth.
Don't wait for them to finish...
Wait till they get the “fragrance” out of the lotion too 😂

Let them sleep, get them outside & feed them real food. Show them how to run a business, not just follow orders
Soy paste, oils and binders out of a nozzle and they still get to call it steak 😳
Know your rancher
An Israeli company just put “3D-printed steak” on shelves in the Northeast.
It’s called Perfecta.
It is not meat.
It is not cultivated meat.
It is soy and wheat protein paste, oils, and binders, run through a machine that layers two different pastes to fake muscle and marbling.
They call the process Fused Paste Layering.
The printer builds the shape. The ingredients are still ultra-processed plant material.
Real steak comes from a cow.
This comes from a nozzle.
Same marketing. Different source.
Phase 4 is literally how we started 😂
Read the labels in our bathroom & threw it all out
Phase 8 deodorant though…
women have 8 phases:
1. partying, on birth control, eating whatever
2. girl boss
3. diagnosed with IBS, PCOS, infertility
4. reading ingredient labels, realizing everything is poison, eating salads
5. pescatarian
6. quits birth control, why the f**k are seed oils in everything
7. quits job, gets married
8. disappears from society, buys chickens, makes own deoderant (it doesnt work)
where you at?
And people are still rubbing it on their skin every day in their lotion 🙃
It all compounds
The oil doesn't stay in the bottle, and it doesn't stay in the bloodstream either. It ends up in a person's fat tissue. Over the last half century, the linoleic acid content of Americans' body fat rose by 136%, and it tracked the rise in seed oil intake. What fat cells are built from affects how they behave, and I think seed oils push fat cells to grow bigger rather than adding new ones. Bigger fat cells are the ones that become insulin resistant and inflamed, so cutting seed oils changes what a person's body is made of.
