Pretty easily, actually. This is a total UX design fail. When shown an unexpected text-heavy dialog like this, users look for how to get past it quickly. This dialog says in clear bold text, “Hold the brake pedal and tap activate”. The text explaining why you’re seeing this and that it will cause damage is in a light gray don’t that many will just skip past. I think they owe this guy the repairs and need to fix this dialog.
This guy must of been very tired or something, because how do you see this popup and go "yup, looks good to me."

This is a terrible thing for Bernie (or whoever runs this account) to get so very wrong.
Corporate greed is Microsoft making $134 billion in profits last year, receiving $19 billion in tax breaks under Trump, paying a lower federal income tax rate than a nurse and getting rid of 60,000 workers. “Corporations will create jobs if they get tax breaks” is a total scam.

Oh M365… never change.

But seriously… please do test your UI sometime.

Republicans ranking "honesty", "responsibility", and "integrity" so high is flip-the-table-over ridiculous. Utterly confounding poll all around. I guess Republicans not thinking we need service or kindness tracks.
New Gallup poll asks "which values the country most needs today?" Out of a list of 12 values, Republicans put "patriotism" #1, for Dems it ranks dead last - by a lot. Dems say "equality" is most needed, Republicans rank it 11th out of 12.

Setting up a new AWS account in 2026 is a real convoluted mess. I guess it’s not just Microsoft that has a terrible onboarding story these days. Apparently depending which entry point you start with, you can end up with a “Project” thing or without one - and in the latter case, you get stuck with no way to create one. And the mess between your AWS account, Builder account, IAM, IAM Identity Center, and AWS Activate is making my head spin.

This is a lie. Here is the exact text from the filing, where they specifically ask to stop certification. The Attorney General of the United States is a bald face liar.
The Department of Justice does not seek to stop any ballot from being cast or to stop the certification of Alaska's election. This litigation seeks to ensure that after Alaskans cast their ballots, they are preserved in a manner so that only Alaska's governing officials have the information necessary to make a determination as to whether Alaskan voters were confused or mislead. The lawsuit was written by Justice Department attorneys and the Department did not coordinate with any campaign or candidate, but rather relied solely on federal law.

This whole thread is great, but this part made me laugh (“it’s funny cause it’s true”).

there are times where astra/sol really shine in an idiot savant kinda way with wild technical chops. but i can leave claude for 12 hours and it comes back with great results. codex has written its 1 millionth unit test and shaved its 10,000th Yak, and has a critical bug

My problem with this is the attitude of the teacher saying “yeah a lot of things will start working for a few days” is retrospective in a world where a lot of people did a lot of work to prevent the worse outcomes from happening. Now, if Dario thought the world was going to end or something, that’s different. But if he was just recognizing the actual worst case scenarios and nervous that not enough was being done - that’s not all that unreasonable.
Dario Amodei was so worried about Y2K that his high school teacher still remembers it decades later. He’s been a doomer for much longer than I thought!

Hey @msft4startups, I tried signing up for your offer with a new MSA account (strange I can't use my company's new M365 Business account for this). However, the account setup flow apparently failed and left me with a regular pay-as-you-go Azure account. It has no credits, no Startups dashboard, etc. Can you help?

As a startup founder trying to onboard my new company to the Microsoft 365 ecosystem I could not be more disappointed. Just figuring out where to even begin the sign-up flow was surprisingly difficult. When I tried going through the main site, one of the first steps asks me for my “work or school” email. I don’t have that. That why I’m here, M365, so I can have one of those. Okay, ignore that and use my personal email, as ChatGPT recommended. Fine. But wait, now it says that email is already associated with an M365 tenant (it is, because my personal email is technically its own 10+ year old M365 Business account). Ugh. I guess this is a weird situation? But Microsoft put me in it. I deciphered the options and took a gamble that the one I picked would do the right thing. It did, so points for that I guess? I go through the rest of the flow and get the account set up, which sets up a default [company].onmicrosoft.com domain. That’s fine if awkward, and the UI was miserable. It then directed me to install Microsoft Authenticator which I already have. A few confusing bounces back and forth and I got past that and was signed in. Not delightful but solvable. Eventually my account was set up, and I landed on the M365 Admin page. Now maybe it’s a Throwback Thursday thing, but this website in a mobile browser is surprisingly bad. There’s “bad for 2025 before a coding agent could fix this in an hour” bad, and then there’s “bad for 2010 when people know the iPhone is a thing” bad. This is the latter. It at least suggested a good first action of setting up my custom domain. In an atrocious UX that I can’t even get to again to show how bad it is, it explained the TXT record I needed to add to confirm ownership of the domain. Easy enough. I added it, and told it so, and it gave an error that said it could take 10 minutes or more for the DNS record to propagate - this delay wasn’t surprising, but the awful UX was. So I waited, and after 15 minutes or so I tried again. But instead of an error, the page just… broke. I tried starting over, but now the whole custom domain portion of the M365 Admin portal just won’t even load. See attached video. No, it isn’t a bad connection. It’s just a broken website. The website that is the onboarding funnel for what is supposed to be a huge established company’s key SaaS offering. I don’t know if Google’s offering is any better, but I guess I’ll find out shortly.

Eventually I figured out that it was only broken in this particular way when going through the recommended action thing. Going a different way, it was broken in a different way where it kept looping back to the same page repeatedly, until suddenly it didn’t! When I went to make a video of that, it decided that on the fifth try it should get serious and actually worked. Still a terrible UI, but it got to the MX record part and now I have email. I just don’t understand how this isn’t the most optimized, streamlined onboarding around. Instead, it was the exact opposite and SO not confidence inspiring. I know M365 should be a trustworthy email, cloud storage, and productivity app solution. But if I experienced something like this with a new startup’s onboarding flow I’d have been gone in a second, never mind after hours of the flow being totally busted. Someone there really needs to get their act together.

I can say with certainty that this Gartner claim is indeed nonsense. Dealing with compute availability challenges, and maximizing what we could get out of the capacity we had, took up a very large chunk of my time over my last year at Microsoft.
“At the moment, we have more compute capacity than we have demand [...]” Ok @Gartner_inc, this is nonsense. We are *massively* compute constrained. Our portfolio companies are struggling to find capacity. Full article here: cnbc.com/2026/10/19/gartner-…

In 2010, Gartner predicted that Windows Phone would overtake iOS market share by 2015. I don’t know anyone who takes these analysts seriously at least for emerging tech.
Whatever Gartner says related to AI or any modern technology, the opposite is true Remember this is the company that listed IBM and AWS as the top coding harnesses a few months ago: above Cursor, Anthropic and never mentioned OpenAI lol I am surprised anyone pays for Gartner

None of us knows what Anthropic’s future looks like, but I’d rather own their stock than any of the other companies here.
Could Anthropic be the first major AI bubble to burst?

Each of these is facing existential disruption right now. While it would be great to see some adapt, I wouldn’t be comfortable picking any to confidently predict will do it.

I hit my Claude Max 20x quota for the first time last Sunday, with it resetting on Monday night. I had a banked reset expiring so I made some effort to make good use of it this week, and thanks to that I’m using two weeks worth of quota in one week. Between Monday at 9pm and Thursday at 2pm I had used 53% of the week’s quota. I hit 100% yesterday afternoon. How did I do that? At 2:30pm I had Ultracode mode (multi-agent extra high effort) do a bunch of research and planning based on a brief I gave it about an architectural overhaul I wanted to do with my prototype. It spun up several sub-agents and went for 4.5 hours researching, making 4 independent proposals, and then having 3 judges review them to pick an approach. Then it created its first draft of a discussion doc and had 7 critics + a triage judge review it, then iterated on that a few times before providing it to me. When that process was done around 7pm, another 10% of my quota had been used (some smaller independent threads probably accounted for 1-2% of that). The Ultracode thread then iterated with me and on Codex feedback through the evening, and then at 9pm it had the project coordinator kickoff 4 top-level regular High effort threads that worked through the night on phase 0 investigations and spikes, and together with the Ultracode thread had the RFC draft ready at 4AM. It then began working on Codex feedback. I then spent Friday day refining that plan and having it test some more variations of a few pieces, and I hit my weekly quota in the afternoon. I immediately used the banked reset they gave us last month to reset it back to zero. It iterated on more Codex feedback until 12:40AM. I was up way too late with friends last night so before I went to bed at 3AM I answered its last questions and it committed the RFC and kicked off new project-level threads to start implementation. Initially two and now three of them, and they’re still working on the core track of the plan. It’ll be another couple days (hopefully not much more) before the RFC is fully implemented. Right now my post-reset quota is 37% used, but thankfully the banked reset didn’t change my weekly reset time so Monday night it will go back to zero again, probably just in time so I don’t get blocked.
I really don’t understand how some people burn through multiple Claude/Codex subscriptions while I can barely max out one $100 plan I’m working on 3-4 projects, rendering videos, and running multiple agents simultaneously - all on Opus 5.5 High What the hell are you guys doing to burn through that many tokens? Am I missing something? 😂
