I used to think solar was the best way to make electricity, but I was wrong. 🧵

How much will it cost? And when can we get it?  These are the two questions Oklo Senior Vice President and Head of Business Development @BrianGitt hears most often from customers looking to advanced nuclear to meet growing power demand. Fuel is central to both answers. Even the most advanced reactor can't deliver affordable power on schedule without a reliable, cost-effective fuel supply. That's why Oklo is developing fuel recycling and fabrication capabilities. Recycling can recover more energy from used fuel, create a domestic fuel source, and reduce dependence on new mining and enrichment. All of this can support our Aurora powerhouse deployments and the broader nuclear industry as we build toward a more abundant, affordable domestic fuel supply. For Oklo, fuel strategy is deployment strategy. Brian explains why in his latest op-ed for @RealClearEnergy. Read more: realclearenergy.org/articles…

Moses didn't wander the desert for 40 years so we could worship energy scarcity.

A thirsty crow finds water in a pitcher. His beak can’t reach it. He drops pebbles, one by one, till the water rises enough to drink. We find energy in atoms. We build nuclear plants, one by one, till power rises enough for prosperity. More for people. Less from nature.

The race to superintelligence is becoming a race to build power plants. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang predicts AI reasoning could require a billionfold increase in computing power—and warns that energy and permitting are major bottlenecks. We'd better get our energy policy right.

America sits on a massive untapped energy resource. Used nuclear fuel still contains roughly 95% of its original energy. Recycling it could cut nuclear fuel costs by as much as 80%. We shouldn’t let that energy go to waste.

India is going ALL IN on nuclear power. It plans to expand its nuclear capacity more than 11× to reach 100 GW by 2047. A new law opens the door for private companies to build, own, and operate nuclear reactors.

I used to believe three things about energy. I was wrong on all three. • Using less energy is good • Wind and solar are the best solution • And that believing this made me a good person Here’s what changed my mind:

1/ America’s next economic boom has a power problem. AI, data centers, and advanced manufacturing are driving massive electricity demand. The real question: where will that reliable energy come from? 🧵 👇@BrianGitt @oklo

Arizona just repealed its renewable mandate after $2.3B in surcharges on customers. Utilities were forced into politically mandated solar contracts for 20 yrs in one of the sunniest places on Earth. If solar is the cheapest power, why did bills go up? bit.ly/470zwH6

Nations rise and fall based on their ability to harness and project energy. Germany shut down reliable nuclear power and tried to replace it with intermittent wind and solar.
This is what economic suicide looks like;

Virginia hosts the largest concentration of data centers on Earth. Electricity demand has surged. Yet residents still pay below-average electricity prices. So why are data centers getting the blame?
