Labour has taken advantage of Scotland’s resources for decades.
In the 1970s, Labour considered using the discovery of North Sea oil to establish a national wealth fund.
Instead, the benefits of oil to Scotland’s economy were downplayed in an attempt to suppress the nationalist movement.
Ultimately, Labour failed to establish a national wealth fund, while Thatcher’s privatisation meant oil revenues flowed straight into Westminster’s pocket.
John Healey has now admitted that a wealth fund established then would be worth over £1 trillion today.
We’ve had enough of Labour taking advantage of Scotland’s resources.
Every single penny of revenue from Jackdaw must go into a Future Wealth Fund for Scotland.
It’s Scotland’s energy, beneath Scotland’s waters, and Scotland’s industry expertise that make Jackdaw possible.
I wonder why Westminster is so scared of Scotland becoming independent?

I have 2 grandchildren who want to be paramedics.
The one who lives in England has to pay £7000 a year. The one in Scotland pays nothing and gets £10000 a year income.
That's what our SNP government has done for us. 🏴

Decades of Westminster mismanagement of the Union.
But it was never a Union but more of an extraction of Scotland's resources
🇳🇴 Norway’s national wealth fund: £2 trillion.
🏴 Scotland’s national wealth fund under Westminster control: £0.
Norway has invested its energy wealth for the benefit of current and future generations, helping to support its public finances. Whilst Westminster has squandered this opportunity for Scotland.

In 2014 North Sea reserves were framed as a fiscal liability with only 5 years left?
Miraculously, today they are exploited as a national asset!!
A study in statecraft LIES. Framing Scottish resources as a declining asset to suppress self-determination.

Pooling and Sharing...looks like a one way street to me. It’s our wealth & England are helping themselves to it. Too late to reclaim what they’ve already looted, but we can ensure we keep future revenues in Scotland. Independence isn’t really a choice, it’s an economic necessity.

Here's the Brit nationalist 'Better Together' oil tycoon Ian Wood on TV 2014 telling Scots 'we have some oil in the shale and rocks, but it's not economically exploitable'. BBC Scotland said all oil gone by 2019. In 2023 'UK' is dependent on Scotland's huge reserves #YouYesYet?

Kinda mad how much of England tells Scotland we are a drain and can fuck off. Yet look at them coming for more north sea oil when they are fucking skint.

A reminder to @Helen_Whately and other politicians hell bent on cutting critical services and support, that treating welfare reform as nothing more than a cost-saving exercise has very real human consequences.
In 2010, Scottish poet Paul Reekie took his own life, aged 48.
He left no suicide note.
Instead, on his desk were two letters. One informing him that his incapacity benefit had been stopped. The other informing him that his housing benefit had been stopped.
His GP subsequently raised his death as a warning about the consequences of welfare reforms.
This is what gets lost when politicians reduce disability, illness and poverty to numbers on a spreadsheet.
We're talking about people who depend on this support to survive. People already facing enormous challenges, who are then pushed further into poverty, insecurity and desperation by decisions made in Westminster.
Of course we should all want a welfare system that works better. But reform should be about improving people's lives, providing meaningful support and addressing the reasons people need help in the first place.
That means creating genuine opportunities for those who can work, removing the barriers that prevent them from doing so, and ensuring that those who can't work have the security, dignity and support they need to live fulfilling lives.
The measure of success can't simply be how much money the Treasury saves. It must be how many lives we improve, how many opportunities we create, and what happens to the people whose support is taken away.
The human cost of getting that wrong is irreversible.

They don’t like the party Scotland has elected so British nationalists in Westminster want to bypass Holyrood . They will now spend money that was supposed to go to Holyrood on a plan from an unelected Brit Nat prime minister from a party Scots rejected.

Helen Whately has spent the past few days promoting a fictional divide between disabled people and “hardworking taxpayers”.
First, she shared a carefully constructed £27,400 benefit figure that combines Universal Credit, housing support and enhanced PIP, as though rent and disability-related costs were disposable income.
Then she suggested Labour MPs only resisted PIP cuts because claimants outnumbered their majorities. What she didn’t mention was that this applies to a higher proportion of Conservative and Reform MPs, and her own majority is just 1,469.
Disabled people are workers, taxpayers, carers and voters. We are not “Benefits Street”, and we will not be reduced to figures on a political spreadsheet.
