His Majesty The Kabaka does not bestow the title of SIR, because the title of Sir belongs to the British tradition. The Highest honor that the Kabaka bestows is “EKITIIBWA KY’AMAFUMU N’ENGABO” The honor of the spears and the shield.
There are very few people who have received this greatest Buganda honor since 1993 when His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Fredrick Muwenda Mutebi II ascended to the Throne.
They include;
Dr. Michael B. Nsimbi
Omuk Joseph P. Musoke
Hon. Baraki Kirya
Captain Ronald Owen
Major Richard Carr-Gomm
Mr Martin Flegg
His Eminence Cardinal Emmanuel Nsubuga
Prince Badiru Mbuga Kakungulu
Bishop Dr. Dustan Nsubuga
The late Major Joash Katende
The late Captain George Maalo
The late Rev. Polycarp Kakooza
Owek. Joyce Mpanga
The late Christopher Sebadduka and
Owek George Kakoma, among others.
In 2009, Ssaabasajja graciously awarded this great honor to another number of people who fought during the 1966 crisis, together with those who took care of Sir Edward Walugembe Muteesa II when he was in exile, at a function organized at Kasambya Lugusuulu in Mawogola. Among those honored were;
Prince Kitayimbwa Kabumbuli Mumiransanafu Lady Nabakooza Angerina
Owek Kabajjo and
Omuk Dan Kaamanyi.
And in the same way, recently in 2017, while opening the 25th Buganda Lukiiko, His Majesty graciously bestowed this Honor of the Amafumu n’Engabo upon various people who have excelled in their service to Buganda. They were:
Owek. Joseph Mulwanyammuli Ssemwogerere, the former Katikkiro of Buganda
Owek Godfrey Kaaya Kavuma,
Prince Rev. Daniel Kajumba
The late James Mulwana
The late Rosaria Kyoteeka
The late John Ssebaana Kizito
as well the late Yvonne Namaganda, who was a pupil at Buddo Junior School who died in a fire that gutted the school dormitory as she was trying to rescue her friends.
The rest are “Abasiime ba Kabaka” as His Majesty appreciated them and announced their names in recognition of their excellent and innovative service era nakyo kyakitiibwa nnyo.

PUBLIC STATEMENT TO UGANDA POLICE, UCC, BRUNO K, AND DESEPARATE MUSANA (PRESSURE)
A young man known as Pressure Musana continues to use TikTok to insult and abuse His Majesty the Kabaka, the Buganda Royals and Buganda Administration.
He was recently arrested and taken to court, then released without clear accountability for his acts against our culture. After his release, he has continued the same insults.
Now we see TikTok hosts, including Bruno K, organizing Live fundraisings and collecting money for him after these insults.
Therefore we state:
1. To this desperate young man Pressure Musana to Stop the abuse against the Kabaka immediately! Your location is ready provided!
2. To Bruno K and all hosts fundraising for him: Clarify to the public your agenda. Are you raising money to reward and support attacks against Buganda's King? If not you must immediately come out clear if your not one of those behind the assaults against His Majesty ASAP!
3. To Uganda Police and CID Cyber Unit: We respectfully ask you to investigate this repeated abuse and ensure the law on hate speech and offensive communication is enforced. We only need to hear the young desperate man is in your custody or else the group of young Baganda youths are ready to take action and his location is ready provided, so our very first role is to safe guard the Nnamulondo!
4. To Uganda Communications Commission (UCC): As the regulator of communications, we ask you to intervene. This TikToker is using a communications platform under your mandate to spread hate against a cultural institution. We request that UCC works with TikTok and Police to stop this misuse and hold the accounts accountable.
We are peaceful, law abiding citizens of Buganda. And please don’t trigger us to cross the lines
Enough is enough.
Abazzukulu ba Buganda are ready to take action ! @PoliceUg @UCC_Official @bruno_KUg
In 1980s, during the NRA bush war, Commander HRH Ronald Muwenda Mutebi Kabaka visited the frontlines. His journey into the country was via the Kigali-Kabale-Kasese-Fort Portal route.
Writer John Nagenda, who had traveled with him all the way from London, recalls that even in the middle of war, the Prince took a moment to greet and show compassion to captured and injured enemy soldiers. Nagenda admits he himself did not have that kind of bravery.
The then Ssabataka (future Kabaka) was to grace rallies that M7 held, one of them being at Masaka Liberation Square.
Many Baganda 98% had refused to support Museveni guerrilla war in Buganda, It was the intervention of (Ssabataka) HRH Prince Ronnie Mutebi on the front lines that changed everything.
His Majesty’s presence at the frontlines, coming from abroad to join the struggle, and his ability to grace and legitimize the rallies, gave the NRA the moral authority, the Buganda support, and the momentum it desperately needed.
Without His Majesty Kabaka's intervention, the bush war would not have been won when it was won.
We must remember Baganda and Buganda have sacrificed a lot for a stable Uganda since colonial times, losing our people and shedding blood for this nation then hate in return.
This 1879 photo shows two queens of Ssekabaka Ssuuna II and their maidservants at his palace in Nakasero.
Ssuuna II was the 29th Kabaka of Buganda who reigned from 1832 to 1856. He was a powerful king remembered for having 148 wives. Like all Buganda kings, he had many palaces Mulago and Nakasero included. His main palace was at Wamala Kyadondo. where he was buried and where Wamala Tombs is today. Nakasero was one of his other palaces.
When the British colonialists invaded Buganda, they first settled in Old Kampala. They later shifted their administration to Nakasero Hill because it was higher and more strategic for defence.
The British colonial authorities decided to transfer their administrative offices and government residences across the Nakivubo River to Nakasero Hill. To protect their new headquarters, the British military built Nakasero Fort in the 1890s, utilizing its defensive high ground to withstand assaults during regional conflicts.
On that same hill where Ssuuna's palace used to be, the British built a new house, the official residence for their top officer in Buganda, the British Resident for Buganda. They called it Nakasero State Lodge.
That house is what we now know today as State House, Nakasero the official residence of the President of Uganda ( British modern governor) present days.
So the same hill has moved from being a palace for Ssuuna's queens, to a house for the British colonial Resident, to State House Today.
ERIAS LUKWAGO: THE TRUE SON OF BUGANDA - BUGANDA IS LOSING ITS SENSIBLE SONS
As we pray for him, we must tell the truth. Buganda is losing its most sensible leaders one by one, and Lukwago is one of the last of that golden generation.
THE TRUE SON OF BUGANDA
Erias Lukwago Ssalongo was born on May 11, 1970, in Kabungo, Masaka now Kalungu District deep inside Buganda. He is of the Nkima Clan (Jjajja wa Buganda) He is a Salongo. He is not from the new breed of politicians who change parties for money.
He is a lawyer by profession Makerere University Law degree, Law Development Centre, and a specialist in constitutional law and human rights since 1998. He used law to defend the voiceless, not the powerful.
Buganda has no authority in the 1995 Constitution and since Obote abrogated the 1962 constitution. The Kingdom was restored in 1993 only as a cultural institution. This is the wound that still bleeds inside Baganda hearts.
While many Baganda MPs kept quiet to keep their jobs, Lukwago stood:
On Federo and Ebyaffe, As MP Kampala Central (2006-2011) and Shadow Minister for Justice, he demanded federalism and the full return of Buganda's 9,000 square miles.
On Kampala on Buganda Land, Kampala sits on Buganda land. As Lord Mayor for 15 years (2011-2026), he fought the KCCA Act that gave central government power over Buganda's capital. He called it "riding an unruly horse" because he was defending market vendors, bibanja holders, and ordinary Baganda.
On the Kabaka: When Mengo was attacked, he defended the institution, arguing that Buganda's demand for federalism is a constitutional right, not tribalism.
HE STOOD WITH BUGANDA
This is what makes Lukwago different and why Buganda loves him.
Today, the Junta has planted a new breed of fake opposition politicians. Their job is simple: attack Buganda every day, insult the Kabaka, abuse Katikkiro Mayiga, call Buganda's federal demand tribal, and divide Baganda in the name of "struggle."
They are paid to make Buganda look bad, to make our youth hate Mengo Adminstration, to say Buganda is the problem for junta’s long stay in power.
In all that noise, Lukwago never joined them. While they were attacking Mengo for money, he stood firm with Buganda and his Kabaka.
He never insulted the Kabaka for likes on TikTok or any socials. He never attacked Katikkiro to please State House. He knew that without Buganda, there is no Uganda. He knew that the Kingdom is our identity.
That is why the Kabaka's subjects respect him. He is a Salongo who knows that you cannot fight for justice in Uganda while you are fighting Buganda. True justice must start with respecting Buganda.
BUGANDA IS LOSING SUCH SENSIBLE LEADERS - LIKE HAJJI HUSSEIN KYANJO
This is where the pain is deepest. We lost Hajji Hussein Kyanjo, and now we may lose Lukwago the same way.
Kyanjo and Lukwago are the same school: Both were principled JEEMA&DP giants from Buganda. Both refused ministerial bribes. Both were loved by the common person.
And both paid with their bodies for opposing the Junta.
Hajji Kyanjo went to Parliament a healthy man. He came out poisoned. He lived for years with a colostomy bag until he died. The state never investigated.
Now Lukwago same script. Arrested from his home in Wakaliga on June 15 by armed SFC, charged with misprision of treason, denied bail four times, kept in Luzira for over 60 days without trial, denied treatment abroad despite a medical report recommending India, now collapsed and rushed to Mulago.
IF BUGANDA HAD AUTONOMY, WE WOULD BE FAR
If Buganda had autonomy - Federo - we would be very far with leaders like Lukwago and Kyanjo. They would not be wasting their best years in Luzira and Mulago. They would be building Buganda as Prime Ministers and Attorney Generals of Buganda.
Buganda has the land, the capital, the economy, and the brains. What we lack is political power, because the Junta knows if Buganda gets autonomy, it will no longer be controlled.
RELEASE HIM!!
We are praying for Salongo Erias Lukwago after he was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital in critical condition on Monday, October 19, 2026. His family confirmed he is in critical condition. He has spinal complications, breathing difficulties, and pain from an old artificial disc operation that doctors said needs review in India.
AL DEMAND: RELEASE HIM IMMEDIATELY
We pray for healing, but we also demand action.
We demand the IMMEDIATE AND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE of Erias Lukwago on medical grounds.
Let it be warned: If Erias Lukwago dies in the hands of the dictator's government, in Luzira or in Mulago under guard, it will be very dangerous.
Dangerous for the country. Dangerous for Buganda. Dangerous for this regime. You cannot finish all our sensible sons and expect us to keep quiet. You cannot finish those who stand with Buganda and the Kabaka while promoting those who insult Buganda on a daily basis.
If he dies, his blood will be on your hands.
FREE ERIAS LUKWAGO NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

"If civilization is judged by the amount of diversity a community or society is able to accommodate, the Baganda are the most civilized".
It's more than the language rather the whole culture, totems and norms are fascinating & wonderful.
Writen by a British Explorer John Roscoe the British missionary, anthropologist and explorer who lived 12 years in Buganda.
His book THE BAGANDA (1923) first published 1911, then revised 1923.
Roscoe was different from other explorers of that time. While most Europeans were calling Africans "primitive," he was amazed by Baganda in Buganda territory because of the;
1. More than 52 Clans with different totems yet they all lived under one Kabaka without fighting each other. That is the diversity he meant.
2. The great Buganda Lukiiko system a parliament with representation from every clan, 300 years before British parliament came.
3. Language and etiquette, every clan has its own taboos but shares one language Luganda.
4. Empisa the manners and respect that held it all together. A system of greeting, kneeling, speech and taboos that taught every Muganda how to live with others without disrespecting their culture and clan system or totem.
Other explorers said similar things, Sir Harry Johnston called Baganda "the Japanese of Africa" and Sir Winston Churchill in 1907 called them "polite, intelligent, and highly civilized" but Roscoe's 1923 quote is the most famous.
The Baganda: an account of their native customs and beliefs
Their Royal Highnesses Prince Edward Mbogo and Princess Sarah Ndagire the grandchildren of Sir Edward Muteesa II, the 35th Kabaka of Buganda.
They are the children of HRH Prince David Kintu Wasajja the younger brother of His Majesty Ssaabasajja Kabaka Ronald Fredrick Kimera Muwenda Mutebi II, and Omuzaana Marion Nankya.
Their Royal Highnesses Prince Edward Mbogo and Princess Sarah Ndagire are the niece and nephew of the reigning monarch of Buganda, His Majesty Ssaabasajja Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Why the name Mbogo?
HRH Prince Edward Mbogo was born in January 2014 at Nakasero hospital Kampala (Kyadondo)the same hospital as his sister Princess Sarah Ndagire was born in 2016, and his name was chosen to honor two great ancestors:
1. Sir Edward Walugembe Luwangula Muteesa ll his late great-grandfather, the 35th Kabaka of Buganda.
2. HRH Prince Nuuhu Mbogo Kyabasinga the brother to Kabaka Muteesa ll, the renowned Prince of Buganda and leader of Islam Islam in B(Uganda)
Who was Prince Nuuhu Mbogo?
Prince Nuuhu Mbogo was the son of Ssekabaka Ssuuna II Kalema and the younger brother of Ssekabaka Muteesa I. He was the uncle of Ssekabaka Mwanga II and the great-grand uncle of Ssekabaka Sir Edward Muteesa II.
When Christianity and Islam clashed in Buganda, Prince Mbogo became the most respected leader of the Baganda Muslims. He was so influential that the British even considered making him Kabaka. He refused to fight his brothers for the throne and instead became a pillar of peace, faith, and education for all Baganda. Today, Mbogo is a name synonymous with Islamic leadership and royalty in Buganda, with schools and mosques named after him.
They are not just grandchildren of Ssekabaka Muteesa ll and great grandchildren of Ssekabaka Daudi Chwa ll. They are the living bridge between Sir Edward Muteesa II and Prince Nuuhu Mbogo.
Wangaala Buganda nnyaffe!
