Put it this way: before Aaron Glenn became Jets head coach, he literally told the Saints front office tell you what, I will come if Loomis is gone. And they didn't want to do that, so they missed out on him, they missed out on Johnson, and they missed out on Eric Bieniemy
The scariest thing is that Ben Johnson was their #1 choice and he didn’t even pick up the phone when they called.

Why would the state pay for this? Especially after getting fleeced by LIV Golf.
No idea who benefits enough to justify "significant money" to upgrade a facility that's often empty during actual racing calendar, just to attract an event with 1.4 million TV viewers last year.
This is a real possibility "if" Churchill Downs and the state of Louisiana are willing to step up and make it happen. Would need significant $$$ to upgrade the facility and add temporary seating for @BreedersCup. But it can happen. See: Lone Star Park, 2004.
