✿ How I Hit YouTube Monetization in a Month ✿ A lot of people are stressed about the new regulations right now, so I wanted to share some real advice from my own experience. FIND YOUR NICHE • Be specific, not just "gaming." Think exact series and recurring title structures you can use! • For me, it's stuff like "Eggie reacts" or "Eggie suffers through X game." • You want a series people will subscribe FOR, with a vibe that stays consistent every time. (This can also change over time so don't worry if your content shifts! Let your channel grow with you! TITLES MATTER A TON • I live in vidIQ for mine! (There is a free and paid version but I believe for titles you just need the free version extension!) • If your title scores 90+, you're good to go. • SEO is incredibly important when it comes to titles (SEO is Search Engine Optimization, if you're not sure what this is I highly recommend looking it up!) • Title structure I use is "Hook title HERE?! | Eggie Reacts to Blah" for example; the hook gathers interest while the tail end helps with SEO! DESCRIPTIONS AND TAGS • Pack your description full of keywords and relevant hashtags! (I put hashtags at the bottom of the description personally!) • Shorts > no more than 2 - 3 hashtags in the title but I recommend at least 2 with one of them being #/shorts! (VidIQ is also AMAZING for this!) • Tags are NOT the same as hashtags. Tags are for misspellings and search terms. • Example tags for a VTuber: "vtuber," "vtubers," "envtuber," "vtuber en," "english vtuber," even a common misspelling of your own name (I'll throw in "Eggy" or "Eggy Weggy" for example). FIND OUTLIERS IN YOUR NICHE • vidIQ shows you which videos in a keyword are overperforming. • Piggybacking off a trending outlier can genuinely boost your views because people are already searching for it! • Example: when the Lego scandal was blowing up, everyone making videos about it got insane views because it was relevant and people wanted it. • This is a GREAT method for reaction videos or commentary content, really anything that involves knowing what other creators are talking about! REACTIONS ARE AN EASY WIN - BUT MAKE IT REAL! • Not necessary, but a really easy way to farm monetization! • You don't have to stick to meme/comedy content. Body cam reactions, gacha update reactions, your favorite TLC shows, Reddit posts, whatever you want. • You're a content creator with an avatar. You don't have to follow "vtuber norms" just because you're a vtuber. • Reaction videos make it really easy to show your personality and it gives a really easy stream to long form pipeline! Just make sure you're making more commentary than the occasional laugh and not using the ENTIRE OG content so you don't get slapped by Youtube's copyright system! • BONUS: Things that get copyrighted on Youtube can be repurposed for Patreon as well! Patreon gives you another level of monetization plus somewhere to put copyrighted videos, ad-free videos, behind the scenes content, digital goodies, and more! PACKAGING IS THE REAL KEY • Thumbnail, title, description, tags, all of it. • If your packaging is good and your content isn't ass, you're generally going to be okay!! THUMBNAIL TIPS • I use Affinity Designer for my Thumbnails! (It's free!) • No more than 3 elements for less visual noise • High contrast on each element (IT MAKES SUCH A DIFFERENCE) • Big expression of your branded OC, either your Vtuber or some sort of chibi or something! • You want it to make someone FEEL something and entice them to click. Too busy = harder to read = lower CTR, and CTR is everything!! CHECK YOUR ANALYTICS • Learn how to actually read your data, it's SO important!! • Google it, there are tons of breakdowns out there on how YouTube data works, it just takes some research! VidIQ can help with this too! • It's not a race, just focus on being better every video and you'll be okay <3 That's most of the advice I've got.
