On Friday, @UsaRidge purchased a very special farm that I'm thrilled to now announce. I love everything about this 450-acre farm, but most of all I love how it will provide a perfect miniature demonstration of our Charter Community model. 🧵

Thank you Senator, this is a massive issue impacting QOL in rural TN Advances in AI, automation and telehealth can go a LONG way in making rural hospitals economically efficient. Small funding pushes into innovation could have big impact on this front.
Every Tennessean deserves access to world-class healthcare, no matter their zip code. As governor, I'll continue to fight to strengthen rural hospitals and make certain our rural communities are never left behind.

Listen, @VoteMarsha is going to win by double digits. But it’s important that we run up the margins big time, for morale purposes.

Our next Governor will be a bit more of a fighter, and that’s probably what we need right now.
Here in Tennessee, if you rape or molest our babies, you should be given the death penalty.

Glad to see this piece from @WNGdotorg featuring my friend @Byzness. I wish every developer took his approach; maintain farmland & existing communities instead of displacing them. As usual, @freire_emma's reporting & prose is top shelf. Give a read. wng.org/articles/returning-t…

James Lindsay spent yesterday spiraling and cursing out Mollie Hemingway, the nicest person in the world, and Joel Berry’s takeaway from all that is that I’m apparently an atheist? Really? Joel, this is going to sting a little, but you are too dumb for this line of work. That probably sounds mean, but I don’t intend it to be mean. It’s just the truth. The people you’ve chosen to be around keep you around because they need someone to step on rakes for them. And bless your heart, you do it with such gusto it’s almost endearing. But in the Eastbound & Down that is your career, you’re Stevie. Best of luck with that.
I’m sorry, but I still appreciate James Lindsay and always will. To the extent that he appears paranoid, it’s because we are in an environment of paranoia induced by Machiavellian infiltrators who lie about their beliefs and intentions. It’s John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ playing out in the movement. He knows that I think he can be too trigger-happy and make enemies unnecessarily, but everyone has an important role in this movement. Some of us are coalition builders, and some are here to sniff out infection. And there is a real infection taking root. I do believe there is a very dark, anti-Christ, anti-American movement trying to take over the Right. Much of it has weird crossover with Claremont, for some reason. It has infiltrated even the beloved Federalist. Sean Davis in particular seems to have lost all hope in God and in our American way. The whole network behaves like a cult. Many of its favored political philosophers, from Schmitt to Evola, are Nazis or occultists themselves. They are Machiavellian in their methods. They are elitists in the worst way. Now, I have no problem with these people voting with me; any help in defeating the Left is welcome. But I don’t want them defining the American Right, because I firmly believe they are antithetical to everything the American Right should stand for. And they will destroy the American Right. And I'm not saying everyone in this network is bad; in fact, I think most of them are good, well-meaning people, and many of them are simply defending their friends against “James the belligerent pugilist” on the internet. I know many of them, and I know they aren't villains. And I know Lindsay's way sometimes has the effect of pushing away the good people who could be won over. Right now, it feels like Invasion of the Body Snatchers or John Carpenter's 'The Thing'. People we know, love, and respect keep getting taken over. These esoteric political philosophers have real power. Carl Schmitt in particular has a darkly spiritual way of rewiring people's brains. Invasion of the Body Snatchers was originally conceived as an allegory for Communist infiltration. When one of the few remaining humans is saying, "your neighbor is really an alien!" of course, that person will look crazy. Machiavellians create an environment of paranoia, which sometimes leads to innocent people being accused of getting "taken over." They count on that, because it helps them discredit the one person who is on to them. But that doesn't change the fact that people like James Lindsay are onto something here, and I wish good people on the Right would engage with it seriously instead of circling the wagons as if this were some high school clique. Pray urgently for our nation and for the movement to save it.

Yup. In entertainment, and in viral clips on social media, the average person is exposed to insane levels of depictions of violence. But somehow, a public execution is what crosses the line by desensitizing people to violence?
I don't buy the the idea that a public execution of someone like Nidal Hasan is "desensitizing" us to "violence." It's the opposite, really. Let me explain I agree that we are "desensitized," but to evil, not justice. We are desensitized to: 1) State-approved barbaric violence that happens behind closed doors (abortion of the unborn and the mutilation of minors via "gender reassignment surgery") 2) Random, evil acts of violent injustice (the murders of Iryna Zarutska, Charlie Kirk, etc.) 3) News media propaganda whose sole purpose is to get Americans to sympathize with the most heinous villains among us (Lindsay Clancy, Christa Pike) As a society, we essentially *never* witness the just, righteous, and legitimate use of state power to punish murderers using the death penalty. Not all "violence" is the same. As modern Americans, we are simultaneously shielded from (again, abortion) and also flooded with truly unjust, dehumanizing violence at levels never before encountered in human history While at the same time, we don't witness or experience the chilling, impartial, righteous application of "violence'" by the state against those who deserve it. And thus we don't, as a people, experience the salutary effects of seeing just sentences carried out. We live in an age of deep moral confusion about the value of human life and what justice really is. Witnessing a murderous traitor who killed 13 of our soldiers on our home soil receive cold, impartial, final justice might actually be good for us. It really might. It will awaken our senses to what justice demands for evil. Teach us to better value human life. Warn those who would consider doing similar acts. Our ancestors used to know this. They weren't barbarians - we are.

If we’re going to do death sentences at all, they should generally be done publicly. Amongst hunters there’s a common disdain for people who wince at the thought of shooting Bambi, but are happy to buy meat at the grocery store. Public executions are kind of like that. Many Americans want criminals to be “taken care of,” but it has to be done far away, in a clinical manner, where we don’t have to confront the reality of what occurs. You may tell yourself that the modern approach is nicer, and more merciful. But really, you prefer it because it doesn’t make you feel as uncomfortable. In the old American way doing things, the criminal often had a chance to give last words. Perhaps ask people forgiveness, or say a final, desperate prayer. Often a minister would attend, and say - without irony - “May God have mercy on your soul.” It was a public ritual that respected the gravity of sending a soul to eternity. It gave satisfaction to directly aggrieved parties. It gave broader reassurance in the rule of law. And yes, it deterred would-be criminals. Which approach seems more humane?

With RidgeRunner, Josh has proved a model for building a community around a vision of elevated rural living and an American way of life. Such vision-aligned communities have shaped America since its founding, and they remain critical outlets for shared ambition and purposeful association. I’m excited for Josh to share our approach at the @ns conference.
