@HakiKNCHR Commissioner Prof. Marion Mutugi, EBS (2R) joined the Kenya Religious Leaders Forum Stakeholders’ Convention, bringing together key stakeholders to advance a democratic, credible and peaceful 2027 General Election.
The engagement highlighted the critical role of religious leaders as the moral conscious of the nation. Religious Leaders were challenged to encourage and support agencies such as IEBC, Police service, ODPP, NCIC as well as KNCHR to jealously guard their independence thus efficiently deliver on their mandates without fear or favour before, during and after the 2027 elections.

Democratic space is rarely lost all at once — it slips away quietly, one compromise at a time, and the antidote is participation: we secure peace by showing up, asking the hard questions, and standing up for our country.

Land rights and climate justice are inseparable.
Across Africa, communities are increasingly being asked to host climate and development projects on their lands. Meaningful participation, access to information and informed decision-making are essential to ensuring these projects deliver benefits without undermining rights and livelihoods.
In this video, Khavetsa Lucheveleli of KCCB-CJPD shares her reflections from the Land and Climate Convening organised by @Misereor and @PowerShftAfrica, highlighting the importance of community awareness, capacity strengthening and local agency in climate action.
For climate solutions to be just and sustainable, communities must not only be consulted, they must be empowered to shape decisions that affect their land, their livelihoods and future generations.

From Information to Early Action
Electoral violence is often preceded by warning signs such as intimidation, inflammatory rhetoric, disruption of political activities, localized tensions and public-order concerns.
Today’s orientation equipped ELOG convenors with practical tools to identify, document and verify these early-warning indicators before they escalate into violence.
Participants explored risk classification frameworks, source assessment, incident verification standards, digital reporting tools, GPS-enabled deployment integrity and escalation procedures.
This adaptive monitoring model enables ELOG to move beyond incident reporting and toward proactive risk identification, helping generate timely information that can support preventive action and strengthen electoral peace.

“If I Die…”
Last year, during the 25th anniversary of Fr. John Kaiser’s death, the Catholic Diocese of Ngong reprinted his book, ‘If I Die’, keeping alive his witness and his unwavering pursuit of truth and justice.
As Bishop John Oballa Owaa said:
“In honour of Fr Kaiser’s unwavering pursuit of truth and justice, for the peasants who are yet to be compensated or returned to their farms, I dedicate the reprinting of this book on the 25th anniversary of his death.”
26 years on, his words and witness continue to challenge us: justice delayed must not become justice denied.

Remembering Fr. Kaiser in the pages of history.
Today’s Daily Nation carries an obituary commemorating the life and witness of Rev. Fr. John Anthony Kaiser (MHM) on the 26th anniversary of his death.
His story belongs not only to the Church. It is part of Kenya’s wider story of the struggle for justice, human rights, dignity and truth.
We remember. We reflect. We recommit.

Building a Just, Peaceful and United Kenya: Upholding Equity and Human Dignity.
This is more than a theme for today’s commemoration. It is a call to each of us to confront injustice, defend human dignity and work for a Kenya where every person can live with dignity and hope.
#RememberingKaiser
Fr. Kaiser (MHM) did not remain silent in the face of injustice. He stood with the poor, the displaced and the oppressed and spoke courageously for their rights.
26 years later, his witness challenges us:
What are we doing to build Kenya where equity and human dignity are upheld?
#RememberingKaiser
🙏🏽 Let us pray.
Today, across Dioceses and Parishes in Kenya, we remember Fr. John A. Kaiser and all human rights defenders and champions of justice who have given themselves in the pursuit of a more just society.
May our prayer become action.
Justice. Peace. Human Dignity.
#RememberingKaiser
