Manometry is well tolerated and safe, though intolerance was more common in <18 and >80 yr old patients. Effects of demographics, psych hx, and prior foregut surg on tolerability were evaluated as well!

Finally an article to help council your patients on tolerability and safety of esophageal manometry.
Manometry is well-tolerated (89.9%) in >5,000 pts. Intolerance was more common in <18 and >80 yrs.
No serious complications were seen.

Right: ask pt if they want to talk about it, try med, see psychiatrist?
Psych consults/antidepressants are helpful. . . but discuss options w/pt first.
