The opening ceremony of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) was held on Oct 18 in Yerevan, capital of Armenia. The conference runs from Oct 19 to 30 under the theme "Taking Action for Nature."
China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) has been selected for the CBD COP17 "Taking Action for Nature" thematic exhibition, Business Practices in China. The case highlights the world's first technological breakthrough in natural reproduction of the endangered Chinese sturgeon under controlled conditions.
So far, CTG has taken part in three consecutive CBD COPs.
At CBD COP16 in 2024, three of its cases were selected, showcasing its efforts in biodiversity conservation and green development at home and abroad. At CBD COP15 in 2022, its case on biodiversity conservation was included in Business Biodiversity Conservation Cases.
Looking ahead, CTG will continue to promote innovative practices and contribute to global biodiversity conservation.
Quality starts with attention to every detail.
During the manufacturing of equipment for Unit 9 at Brazil’s Jupiá Hydroelectric Power Plant, technicians checked the shaft dimensions of each wicket gate and witnessed the runner leakage test, verifying critical parameters and test results to ensure quality before installation and operation.
CTGI has officially released its 2025 Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Report!

At CTG LatAm’s Baranoa Phase II and III Solar Projects in Colombia, slope protection and drainage are essential to construction quality and safety.
To mitigate erosion risks from heavy rainfall during the rainy season, the project team worked with supervision and construction teams to carry out on-site inspections, checking slope protection, surface treatment, and drainage facilities to identify potential issues and strengthen erosion prevention measures.
Letting clean energy and nature grow side by side.
At the Perogordo PV Plant (Daylight), the CTG Europe team uses physical methods to manage vegetation, reducing the need for chemical herbicides. Suitable native plants are also grown along the plant’s boundaries, creating ecological buffer zones and giving the surrounding natural environment more space to thrive.
Through continuous monitoring and careful management, the project is helping clean energy generation and biodiversity conservation coexist on the same land.
At CTG LatAm’s Kinich Solar Project in Mexico, the team worked together to repair tracking structures, replace cables and further optimize TCU parameters, helping the equipment operate more stably and efficiently.
Every maintenance task and parameter adjustment helps keep the equipment in good condition and ensure a steady supply of clean electricity.
One inspection each year helps keep clean energy running reliably while making sustainability part of everyday project operations.
CTG LatAm’s Baranoa PV Project in Colombia recently passed its annual environmental inspection by Corporación Autónoma Regional del Atlántico (CRA), with all obligations under its environmental permits found to be compliant.
Meanwhile, the project team continues to strengthen security and O&M, from optimizing its CCTV system to improving spare parts management — helping keep daily operations safe, efficient and reliable.
When solar power meets sheep, a new way of using land is taking shape.
CTG Europe is exploring the sustainable “Solar Grazing” model, allowing sheep to graze around solar power plants. By naturally keeping vegetation under control, the sheep can reduce the need for mechanical mowing while creating a more natural habitat for birds and wildlife. @CTG_Europe
Achievement unlocked: 15 years of CTGI!
From hydropower plants to wind and solar farms, from project sites to global teams, CTGI has worked hand in hand with partners around the world to bring clean energy into everyday life.
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone whose hard work, trust and shared growth have shaped this journey. Here’s to the road ahead—and to continuing to work together for cleaner energy and a better life! @CTGAAL @CTG_Europe
Located on the Paraná River between Andradina and Castilho (SP) and Três Lagoas (MS), the Jupiá Hydroelectric Power Plant is a key source of clean electricity in the region.
Can you guess how many people its average annual power generation can meet the electricity needs of?
A. Around 1 million people
B. Around 2.3 million people
C. Around 5 million people
Take your guess!
—
Answer: Around 2.3 million people
With an installed capacity of 1,551.2 MW, the Jupiá Hydroelectric Power Plant generated around 6.773 billion kWh of electricity in 2025 — enough to meet the average electricity needs of a city with around 2.3 million people.
Behind every turning turbine is the careful work carried out on site.
At CTG Europe’s Flores Wind Farms, teams move between turbines, carrying out equipment inspections and routine maintenance while keeping a close eye on every detail. Their daily work helps keep each turbine operating safely and reliably. @CTG_Europe
13 years of operation at the Garibaldi Hydropower Station!
Located between Abdon Batista and Cerro Negro in Santa Catarina, Brazil, the Garibaldi Hydropower Station has four generating units with a total installed capacity of 191.9 MW — enough to meet the electricity needs of a city of around 255,000 people.
Beyond power generation, the station continues to support environmental and community initiatives, including local agriculture and businesses, contributing to shared development.
Recently, CTG Brasil and the New Development Bank (NDB) began cooperation on the Serra da Palmeira Wind Complex in Brazil, with financing to support the project’s development and operation.
From China to Brazil, teams across different locations worked closely to address the project’s needs and successfully secure financing, supporting the project through its development and operation.
Connecting with more partners and hearing perspectives from different markets.
Recently, CTGI were invited to an investment promotion agency event and the 5th anniversary of the China-Europe Business Council in Xiamen, China, where we met representatives from organizations and companies across different sectors.
During the events, we shared our experience in global clean energy investment and exchanged views with guests on topics including China-Europe industrial cooperation and digital transformation.
