Doctors are being urged to factor in chronic skin inflammation as a cardiovascular 🫀 red 📫 flag, with new commentary calling for heightened vigilance around psoriasis and other dermatologic conditions that carry systemic inflammatory burden.
Psoriasis is now recognised as a risk-enhancing factor for cardiovascular disease, yet traditional prediction tools often miss the mark – particularly in moderate-to-severe cases, according to dermatologist Dr Annika Smith and cardiologist Professor @clara_chow , from the @WARC_USYD , Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.

Stay safe this summer: protect your #skin from the sun
A wide-brimmed hat is a stylish way to beat the sun.
It shields your face, neck, and ears which are often neglected when applying sunscreen.
Stay cool & protected

Stay hydrated this summer!
Drinking plenty of water is key to keeping your skin hydrated from the inside out. Proper hydration helps maintain skin elasticity and suppleness, which is especially important during the summer months when sun exposure can lead to dehydration.
The sun can cause skin damage, premature aging & even skin cancer.
Wear sunscreen (SPF 50+), reapply every 2 hours, seek shade, wear a broad-brimmed hat, protect your eyes with sun glasses, wear sun protective clothing that covers your back, shoulders arms & legs & stay hydrated.
Excited to announce that our very own @AliAzimi0 has received the @SydCanPtners Seed Grant to validate a novel metastatic risk tool for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. Congrats @AliAzimi0
